If those rams hadnt been shorn it would be a lot worse for their health than taking it off. They can get fly blow from the shit piling up around their bum, the wool growth takes away from the sheeps conditioning i.e skinny, bony sheep, sheep overheating in summer and too much wool can actually render a sheep immobile on a wet icy morning. They water in the wool freezes and its too heavy for the sheep to stand up. A very cruel way to die.. .
