MP2002-334 Former President Truman Recalls the Berlin Airlift

In this Screen Gems outtake, former president Harry S. Truman discusses the situation leading up to the Berlin Airlift. He recalls that the Russians had blocked supply routes by road, rail, and water, and the only option left was to bring supplies to Berlin by air. They assembled as many planes as they could to deliver food, coal, and other supplies to Berlin, and within 11 months a plane was landing there every 63 seconds. Eventually the Russians realized they were not going to win this round and gave up on the blockade.
