The reason the float tab was bent was to increase the amount of fuel in the bowl. Mine was that way and the previous owner said he did that to try to richen up the fuel mix. Honda's run lean from the factory. I got a jet kit for mine and it made a world of difference. It now starts easier and has much better throttle response.
I have a 2005 CRF 230 F as well the hood that’s on the main jet that you took off either I lost mine or doesn’t have it. Is that a possibility? How important is it if I don’t have it anymore and lost it
Thank you. More than likely what is happening is your float is getting stuck. And this can occur when the carburetor is in need of cleaning. Debris might have also gotten into the carburetor from the tank and not allowing the float needle to seat all the way in to shut off the fuel coming into the carburetor. So I would start with a good cleaning and possibly install an inline filter between the tank and the carburetor.
OTRVM thank you sir I clean it and it looks like it went away but the seal is loose I order a new one hopefully that stops the leaking because now it started a little leak from the good thing that is under it too
My bike (pit bike) was running great today, then it just died, like out of gas or no spark, totally dead, and the kick start suddenly became way too easy. I have spark for sure, and starting fluid didn't help, put my finger in the spark plug hole while pushing down the kick and get compression. Ideas? New bike? shrugs....
Thanks Great useful info! I bought a 2012 CRF230F. Seems there’s a small leak of gas out overflow. Idles fine. Are the most likely causes the main jet/needle , debris or improper float setting?
More than likely the float is sticking or the level is off. Someone might have cleaned it prior to selling it but bent the tab on the float needle thus changing the level. Thanks for the support.
Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve only had fuel injected road bikes before. Does the centrifugal oil filter make a distinctive noise? Other than a bit of fuel leaking & possibly a bit sluggish mid to upper revs the bike seems to work well.
@@willmcgregor7184 Some noises common to dirt bikes especially ones ridden hard could be clutch chatter. while its idling pull in the clutch and see if the sound changes. Also you can hear top end noise too. Levels can vary depending on the bike, age, time ridden, ect.
Mine starts just fine, just won't idle with the choke off. I heat up the motor. Turn the choke off and it instantly dies. I've messed with the idle control as much as possible and still no luck.
Yeah I hear you. Pretty typical of the pilot circuit being clogged/varnished/obstructed. You will need to clean the entire circuit. Including removing the welch plug and taking out the air/fuel mixture screw for idle. Hope this helps.
Two comments: When checking your float level, put a short piece of fuel hose on the carb, and blow through it as you move the float, when you hear the air blowing sound stop, you will know when your valve closes. A little bit of vaseline on the inside of the jntake and air box tubes will help the carb slide back in easier.
I am sorry to hear that. A lot of ATV/UTV/Motorcycle carbs can be a pain to fit back in. I have not had my hands on a CRF230F in a long time. I wish I could give you some aid in the matter.
My crf230 won't start with start button I have to bump start it. I bought a new battery but to luck. I still have to bump start it. Got any ideas why it's not starting with the start button.
Same thing happened to me. We took it to a small motors mechanic and he reckons the wires were corroded some where from the battery to the start button.
Thanks for the vid. Helped me clean up my carb in my 230. Runs great now.
Very well done video. Perfect camera angles and your instruction is dead on. Thanks so much.
At 5:26 did anybody else catch his little vroom sound. Haha lol
Great and easy to follow. Got my bike tuned up just right in a matter of a couple hours.
I know it's an old video, but I really enjoyed it 👍👍

What year is your bike and which jets ended up being the ticket?
what parts do you clean once you have it taken apart?

my 2003 crf 230f wont start :(, its turning over, but not engaging, any tips?
wait, you're a mobile tech that will perform routine maintenance in the driveway of your customer. Wish you were in central NJ.
Hey bro I have a crf 230 2004 and it leaks al lot of gas in to the drain hose why is that ? Is my carb dirty ? Best video out there btw

Thanks Again
so how can i change the amount of air on the carburetor
Great content
Where does the fuel line at the bottom of the carb connect to?
the little one that comes off the bottom is an overflow. just goes down through the rear shock linkage

I'm having this problem as well. How did you resolve this problem?

I can’t get the cable that goes on the top of the carb to fit in the slot. It just won’t fit.

Where is the best way to get someone doing it for me?
Does anyone know where to find the kind of spring shown at 11:35 , mine shot across the garage and can’t find it.

Good evening. Thank you for your question. Tomorrow I will post a video for electrical troubleshooting of the starting circuit for your bike.
Same thing happened to me. We took it to a small motors mechanic and he reckons the wires were corroded some where from the battery to the start button.
I just posted the video for. I hope it helps some.
Miguel Camacho easy replace it with a new one am buy new electrical system that’s what I did an it starts like new
@@simsatvrepair1255 I'll have to the wires don't look to good.
Good video, thanks
MY 2007 ROAD MODEL HAS A DIFFERENT CARB,,,
