    Hi Adam, Now I'm very happy to have happened to meet your lecture, when I'm browsing out some complicated
    words in internet. I felt the same feeling when I happened to meet with "TED" the other day, I'm 70 already, but I'm confident to improve my English drastically by your lecture.

    This stuff is tricky for a non native speaker. I was playing a video game when I heard: "I'll let 'em climb on one another." So I thought to myself: wasn't that supposed to be "climb on themselves?" Yeah, I was wrong. Thank you for the lesson, dear teacher.

    Hello Teacher Adam! I hope you're doing great! Thank you for your helpful and interesting lessons. On the other hand, I wonder if you could have the chance to explain me what is the rule with the Genitive 's. I've read rules about it but they just make me to get confused. For instance, I do not know if is okay "The princess's golden ball fell into a well" or "The princess' golden ball fell into a well". Thank you in advanced. :)

  • @admortor

    Hi teacher Adam. :)
    I have a question:
    "They used to show love to each other"
    "They used to show love to one another" Do I need "to" here?

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 лет назад +1

      +Alejandro Moreno Yes, because "show" already has a direct object: "love." The reciprocals "each other" and "one another" are therefore INDIRECT objects requiring the use of "to" because the rule is that when the indirect object follows the direct object, "to" is required to mark the indirect object. When the indirect object precedes the direct object, "to" is not required ("They show each other love").

    I have a question. Video subtitles in English are made by you or are the automatic captions from youtube? Because sometimes, the automatic caption is wrong and not everything that is spoken is understood because it is too fast or the word is unknown.

    Oh! How I love your videos Adam! I wonder if you could explain the differences between "Think" and "Reckon". Could you?

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 лет назад

      +Yorgelis Esis "Reckon" as a synonym for "think" is not considered standard English. It's a usage that is mainly confined to rural dialects.

    • @Yatiquéteimportasaberminombre
      @Yatiquéteimportasaberminombre 8 лет назад

      Thank you very much for having me explained +Lee Cox

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 лет назад

      Yorgelis Esis You're welcome.
      By the way, the better way to phrase your sentence is "Thank you very much for explaining it to me." You left out the direct object ("it"), and putting it back into the sentence requires the indirect object ("me") to be moved to the end of the sentence and preceded by the preposition "to," because direct-object pronouns always go before indirect-object pronouns.

    Thanks

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 8 лет назад

      +Fabricio Reis No. It's "each other" for the subject/object and "each other's" for the possessive because the reciprocal pronoun "each other" is considered singular, not plural.
