  • A lot of the issues come in these common area:
    - not brushing the floor properly
    - two legs not coming together at the right time/place
    - traveling on Jeté
I also point out the importance, once again, on using exercises at the barre to help students build the proper muscle memory.

Thank you Mr Du. While I understand that as an adult learner, I could never have the same muscle strength and flexibility as a professional dancer, the principles of using muscles remain the same :) I really appreciate your detailed and easy-to-understand video tutorials.

I’ve watched your shorts for a while and now watching the long form ones. I’m an adult getting back into ballet after doing it as a child, I also do salsa, bachata, and pole dancing. My goal is to get en pointe and so I want to make sure I don’t learn anything in the wrong way and I get every detail correct, especially after noticing that my teachers at the moment don’t make certain corrections that I want. I very much love your teaching style, you clearly know what you are doing, I love seeing your students very open to correction instead of getting frustrated that says a lot about you and them as well. ❤

The mechanics of assemblé and jeté were explained so well - very helpful :) I particularly found the idea of the legs joining acting as a '2nd thrust' in a jump. Thank you for putting out such good content :) A video with tips to increase the number and quality of fouetté turns could be really helpful

    • @Mwilke3789

I believe, (and this is what I teach) retire is the action of retracting the work foot up the leg and passe is the act of passing through the position. It can also mean the high knee is the position at which to are able to pass through to any high develope extension. For example right leg front in 5th, retire the leg up to the the passe position moving into a develope front. Often times teacher will just say passe/retire meaning the position of the working foot up at the knee, but technically a retire is the "road" and passe is the "roundabout" to the final "destination" (devant, a le second, derriere).
