Peter Nero earned the respect of musicians on both the jazz and classical sides of the biz in the 1950s thru the 2000s. My mother often spoke of going to see him at the famed Red Hill Inn in Pennsauken New Jersey. Wasn’t really a jazz hound, but she loved Peter’s playing. Of course he went on to conduct the Philly pops for many years. Joe Cusatis’ brushwork is pretty scary here.
I still have a be bop nesting kit by Modern Drum Shop… and absolutely loving it! I remember giving Joe a bit of a headache to find the Gretsch red sparkle finish that I wanted.
I think you’re talking about his various “Patterns” for the drumset books. These books are still available through Alfred Music via Amazon and other bookstores.
I remember back in 67, my Dad had Joe at his Drum Clinic. He brought the house down. Such a great Drummer and Gentleman.
Fav version of "Cute" ever!

Wow, wicked clean are these guys.
Never heard of them, I think, but I have now.
Thanks Maestro!
Enjoyable!
JOE CUSATIS, he wrote such a fantastic book about "Cross Sticking on the drum Set", IS IT still available somewhere ?
