The two Bulls from MVG at the end, seemed like a “challenge” towards Petersen for not taking out the 170.
True.. Van Gerwen does these things when he doesn't believe in the win anymore. He tries to tell things with his darts like.. "you didn't dare to go for the bull, I hit them twice in 1 visit". It's some kind of a sneak-diss.

It's definitely not unthinkable, but I think there is a more simple explanation. After the S20 he had 167 left. What do you do from 167 with two darts when the T20 is blocked? You can either try for 19s or try to hit 75 at the bull to to leave 82, which is a preffered finish over 81 which you get when hitting four 19s.
In other words, it might just have been his standard route in this situation...

The standard has gotten so high, really hard for any player to dominate like in the past but never count Mvg out

Congrats Devon u,ve made Africa proud.
He's admitted, the hunger for performing as he has in the past has diminished. And maybe some family stuff, just became a father for the 2nd time. Other things on his mind now and since he's financially independent, i don't blame him. But like this, he'll lose that #1 spot in no time.
Just love it to see MvG getting a$$whooped.

Nothing premature about anyone who talks about his form, his darts or whatever. Facts speak for themselves. He is not as dominant as he was, and is eminently beatable. His averages are not as consistent as they were, this too makes him more beatable. Add those to the fear factor that seems to have disappeared from most players when they play him, and you have the player you have now. Makes for much more enjoyable darts anyway.

No private problems. He's got a kid, he changed his darts and most importantly he admitted to not practicing a whole lot during the break.

The field has gotten better
The others have caught him up in terms of consistency on the averages. He's still the best on his day but that gulf is no longer and he has to be at his best to win.

I think MVG is one of those players that feeds off the crowd when he needs motivation. Even your local pub league player will tell you how different it is to shoot in a larger tournament (where everyone is watching) compared to single league match where it's just the two of you.

MVG going down 0-6...WTF ??? He's definitely in a very bad period...It happens to everyone of course, but it's very rare to see Mighty Mike lose like that... :(
What I don't get is the fact that MVG after every big match or tournament he wins, he says "the best players win when it counts" or "I'm still the best". Why can't he just say that he played well and move on
If everyone was like that, then it'd be as boring as Snooker. God help them when Ronnie finally has enough! We might as well just watch a couple of robots fire darts at the board if you want to remove personality from it. (The standard is so high these days, it's not far off what is happening tbh)

@@gonefishing3593 You also earn the right to be a bit of an arrogant tosspot when you've won what he has.... Same with my original example, Ronnie. Doubting yourself, when the pressure is on, generally only ends in failure, too. I'm a very humble guy normally, but I do love a bit of banter with the darts. It's all in good fun. I've seen him have a laugh about his record against Durrant at least. No true narcissist could do that at any rate.

Doraemon i think he was trying to go d19 d19 and missed the first dart so just decided to stick with 19s

Michael van Gerwens throw has changed a bit I think.... At the backlift of his arm the dart points a bit downwards, afterwards he is doing a little wrist flick to point the dart towards the target... His throw doesn't seem as flawless as it used to be
Wow was für eine Performance von Devon. Ihm gönne ich es total, gerade gegen MVG. Da hätte MVG aber mal ehrlich ordentlich gratulieren und Devons Leistung würdigen können. Und genau so ein Verhalten macht ihn einfach unsympathisch und lässt ihn arrogant erscheinen.
Er ist einer der besten Verlierer auf der Tour... Er wirkt immer fair zu seinen Gegner. Kann solche Aussagen nicht verstehen. Und Peter Wright ist ja immer ach so toll und fair. (Ist er auch meistens, aber manchmal eben nicht und MvG eigentlich immer.) Und ich bin KEIN MvG Fan, sondern meine Lieblingsspieler sind Rob Cross und Clemens. Aber sonst hast du Recht. ✌
@@Jojo-ri3fu Klar die Hand gibt er immer, mir geht es aber eher um die Würdigung des Gegners bei einer besonders tollen Leistung. Das er bei einem mega Checkout des Gegners mal abklatscht etc sieht man von MVG halt nicht. Aber schon ok, jeder sieht das halt anders und das ist auch ok so.
Can't seem to find mvgs interview after his loss. Seems he only does one when he wins now. He's amazing player but so are alot now the money is massive. He won't ever dominate again
@@hansolo2121 saying that Glen durrent couldn't beat him again is beyond a joke. Mvg is the best player on his best form but constancy is the key. And being humble is a good trait to have. Has a good win says he will dominate. Looses like in Premier league doesn't do a interview.

Petersen could have easily lost the first leg. Don't know why he targeted the D19 and then switched to 6, D16. That was a bit crazy.
Lol and yesterday he was trashtalking about how Glen Durrant will never beat him again when he plays like that and that he‘s back at his best.... now gets whitewashed by Petersen 😂 so fuckin well deserved 😁😁

MVG is playing bad. He's clearly not in the best form of his career. But wonder how much influence the pandemic and thus no crowds has. Some players are intimidated by a big crowd, some players thrive in those environments. I think MVG has problem focusing now that he is playing for just himself, he needs darts fans cheering or booing him.

@@sixtrumpetwarnings Not making excuses at all, he is playing bad. But with every player that looses their form there is a reason. A player who dominated the field for years does not suddenly forget how to play darts. There has to be a cause, and I don't think it's his new darts. I think MVG in top form can play well with literally any random set of darts.
And the lack of crowds is influencing players and teams, you see it everywhere. Liverpool was dominant the entire season, no crowds and they are playing bad, they clearly need the fans behind them.

Everyone thought mvg was back in dominant form he got smashed 6-0 by Petersen who doesn't even compete in majors
so far !!! He will play the Grand Prix next month and he also is playing the World Championship every year
Petersen is one of best players on the Pro Tour this year. Two Semis and a Final in the last five events, he has made huge leaps in class recently.
