11:55 curious on how exactly to hold the dart. Having such a different result from the way I've held the dart. I've used two fingers, three fingers, holding the dart closer to the tip, farther back as well. How tight a grip as well. When the actual release from my fingers should happen, eye level? You make it so easy, but uve been practicing on my stance balance and follow thru, thank you for those tips, does help. Just wish I knew more on how to hold the darts. I have seen so much Videos and especially in my mother language. But this is the best Tutorial ever and it helps me to get better. Greetings from germany
Great video. My problem is that my darts go all over the place, or barely make it to the board. I just started playing a few months ago, but had given it up bc I’m not very consistent. I’m always moving around the line. I have a poor stance. I lean forward and move my arm from the position and have to start all over again for the next dart. I’m a heavier person. So it’s hard for me to keep a straight 90 degree angle. Mine is usually off to the side. After watching your videos and listening to your tips I’m going to keep them in mind from now on when I go out to the bar and practice on my own instead of trying to play wildcard cricket with my group of friends. I only hope to improve the more I practice until I might have the courage to join their game. Thanks for the amazing info!

My problem with lining the hand straight and starting the aim in front of your eye is, that every time in the middle of the throw you lose sight with triple 20, because your hand holding the darts flicks in front of your eye and you lose contact with the board and I absolutely hate it and can't hit anything then. So I aim and throw my darts more like from the right side next to my eye. But overall, this video is very correct and educational.
You have made me a much better dart player and Have really made a diff. with my mind set and now i am having fun and it has carried over to my life as well You are the man thanks for your awesomness

"Practice makes it permanent", well said Sir. Looking forward to implementing your techniques and mindset. Had to laugh about your love-hate relationship with darts, as I find myself in that fight all the time.
Good video man. I've been playing for about 10 years before covid I was rated a 16 (dartslive rating) and hit the biggest slump ever dropped all the way to a 12. I started hesitating my throw. So I took a break for 2 years. (Covid helped with not being able to play) any way I just started again. And your aim, pull back , follow though. Is the only thing helping my hesitation. I think of it as (A-B-C) a being my aim. B being pullback and C being follow though.. anyway thanks for sharing some great videos
Can't disagree with anything here - some great tips! Here's something to consider - holding the dart out further gives you more room for error but conversely, it also gives your brain more time to adjust that error. A short backswing has to be spot on every time otherwise it'll compromise the throw, but I guess that could be said about any throw. Different strokes for different folks at the end of the day. If there was one best way, then the pros would all be doing the same thing. Fundamentals are key but so is finding your comfort and style. Your calves are also crazy toned.
Good advice , clearly shown . I go to bits in some bar matches despite being practicing before all matches . It is a head game for sure ! I love darts though , so I carry on playing even after decades . All the best from the UK . Ps those soft tips make a noise on landing in the dart that would annoy me I have to say . Lol
Awesome content, and great advice. Sometimes I throw on one spot, and sometimes I feel I'm not able to aim 😭 can you please make a video how to target /aim right? 🙏 Thank you very much 👍
Alignment on the line is a good start. A consistent follow through helps. Finishing with your fingertips or wrist down is something to focus on. Finally, throw THROUGH the number. Don't try an put touch on it. That's what I would say. Best of luck, Timo
Some of the comments are so negative, I thank you for making this video. You are doing a great job, keep up the helpful hints and dont let a couple of a**holes ruin your day. And. You do have nice calves. Much love from SantaRosa Ca
You've only got to see his throw when he using his technique properly and his darts go pretty much where he wants them. So it works for him. He adds enough options for people to adapt it to them as well. I'm side foot on the line and try not to lean as I find when centrally grounded my darts go better. If like he says I've pinched in excess of 5 inches I don't need to lean. I changed to side foot on because my old stance agrivated my back. Siatica. 😑 His movement's all in his arm and he talks about reducing what can go wrong. I don't see any problem with any of that.
When it comes to practicing your aim, what would you recommend? I’ve been working on my consistency, and been playing 20 bulls. The bull seems the hardest to hit so not sure if I should be taking a different approach. By the way, love the Iron Man flag.
Always nice too see your video ( from france ;) ) notice you usualy use more than 3 dart for your train, do you use all same darts or they are diferent set ? A fan from france
Good video m8 i really enjoyed that. Iv been standing with my toe pointed but I think I might change and go more your style and see how it goes. How about a wee video on the way you grip the darts and the different ways and which is better? Oh and why do you keep putting your fingers on lips, do you not like you fingers dry? Keep up the good work m8 all the way from Belfast Ireland 🎯🇮🇪
I'll do a grip video soon. I lick my fingers for grip... I need a little friction ... I've heard people use wax on their fingers to help. Thanks for watching from the great country of Ireland!
I use a hard wax , not all the time , but the pot of wax is there ready . The wax does not actually increase the grip I believe . What it does though is provide a more constant grip ; it kind of dries up any sweeting , it gives a more consistent dart release . Maybe it is all in my head , but whatever helps I certainly will take ! Hope that helps someone . Cheers .
New player here still trying to figure out my throw/technique....your technique is very robotic meaning your set up/release etc is very consistent, amazing. Is that the universal way among good players? Thanks!
@@IronmanDarts thanks. My comfortable "good" throws my arm position tends to be slightly out to the right and high (right handed) instead of dead on straight position. Idk if I should continue my unorthodox style or force myself to throw the traditional way. Again I'm brand new but darts have been enjoyable and I'm slowly improving! I think. Ha.
I have been playing darts for about 38 years now and have made several changes to my stance and throw over the years. I was just wondering why you don't stand on both of your feet when you throw. You are basically standing on 1 foot? I think your stance would be much more stable if you were to stand on both feet. You have a very stable throw, You are not moving anything but your arm and that is great. You do not have an excessive forward lean and that is also good, but I think if you stood on both of your feet and kept both feet flat on the floor you would have and even better solid stance and throwing from a solid stable stance can only help your accuracy. Stand in your dart Stance and have your wife or a friend give you a little push and see how stable you are? Then stand with your front foot the same in position to the throw line with both feet flat on the floor about shoulder width apart. Then lean slightly forward toward the board with about 60% on your weight on your forward foot and 40% on tour back foot. you should have a strait vertical line up the front of your body from your ankle to your hip and to your armpit. Have your wife give you another little push and feel the difference in your stability in that new stance. Give it a try. and feel the difference. This stance has helped me to have a more accurate throw. I just found your videos today. I just watched your throw like Peter Wright video. I think you are spot in with working on your follow through, great advice for anyone working on throwing darts. I was a stabby thrower like you were stopping my arm short of fallow through. When I started to follow through my stray 1's and 5' improved a lot. I think I was stopping my arm short because I was getting pain in my elbow at the bottom of my Biceps. I was stopping my arm to try not to hyperextend my elbow, thinking that was causing the pain in my elbow. In fact that was the cause of the pain. It was the shock on my biceps tendon from constantly stropping my arm from naturally following through on the shot. Once I started to actually follow through the pain has been gone. Did you ever get any pin in your elbow at the bottom of your Biceps when you were not following through and stopping your arm short? and did it stop when you started to follow through? Any way that is about enough for now. Great content so far, well made videos and great edits and camera angles. Try that stance and get pushed a few times and you will see what I mean. keep both feet flat on the floor you might loose an inch or two in lean, but the stability in your stance will more than make up for it. I am going to the board now to try your tip on the slow pull back and see how it works for my throw. I have a relaxed throw now but the slow pull back might be exactly what my throw needs. I will give it a try and let you know how I make out. Try that solid stance out and see how it works for you. It might be good content for another video. CHEERS from Canada!! & SHOOT E'm STRAIT!!! Sorry for the long comment, but I just cant stop myself sometimes when talking about darts.
@@TechnologyAndHome Stand up strait and don't lean forward Keep a strait line from your ankle to your hip and to your armpit and you should not be having pain in your back with this stance. It is a neutral stance so should not put too much pressure on your back unless you are trying to lean way out forward. CHEERS!!
I put my weight on my leading foot too . I find I am perfectly balanced and stable through three throws . Using my weight on two feet gives me back ache in no time at all ! Keep your non throwing hand still and try not to move anything other than your throwing arm . Try to reduce movement from the shoulder to the elbow , use the fore arm and wrist to generate power . Some elbow movement is bound to happen though . Become a machine , a robot , as much as possible for consistent throwing . Do what I say , not what I do mind ! Good luck .
question. when you said the darts have spinners on them. is that because of deflection? what kind of darts do you use? hell of a nice group by the way.
Sir, how can I get rid of the lack of my throw..because when I'm playing I have time to throw but the difficulty can be released when I dart..I hope you can answer my long -standing problem with my throw thanks more power in your channel. .
That sounds like dartitis which if you have that you have my sympathy. Darts is a very mental game. I've seen a guy who has dartitis who can throw darts till he thinks about it then he struggles to release them. It's a horrible thing to see because he's a good thrower and it makes him angry and frustrated... However check out Worldwide Darts on RUclips as he says he had dartitis and he doesn't like grippy darts. That might be the thing??? You might need a set of darts that when you do the motion of throwing they come out of your hand whether you want them to or not. Then you con your brain because it can't make you hold onto them. Obviously put a big board behind your dart board so if you do hang onto them a bit you don't damage anything. Then don't worry where they go just concentrate on your action. Basically take every negative thought out of your mind and see what happens??? It might be worth dropping Worldwide a message as well to see if he has any tips. The problem is what works for one doesn't work for others so be prepared to adapt things to suit yourself. Hope that helps in some way.
@@IronmanDarts It's not bad, but I think you are not above 80 3da steel tip 501, which is OK. But I am also at that level and have been there for years.
@@IronmanDarts haha I got luck and scored one on ebay for $300 new. On dart websites there $350 but sold out so now been seeing them go for 500 on Amazon and ebay which is crazy ain't worth 500
Follow through is very important but it comes naturally in the end you can't really force a follow through it's just about being limp and relaxed not tense 👌
Can't find my grip, release or anything else anymore, after two years of averaging 85. Ive completely forgotten how to throw darts. Any ideas on how to get it back. I believe the term used is DARTITIS!!!😂👍🏼 Seriously though, I'm almost ready to quit because I'm screwing my team. The more I throw, the worse it gets.😢🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Have you considered a raised oche? It's simple to do and once you play on a raised oche you will never wanna go back. Thanks for making dart videos I wish it would catch on more in America. Also play steel tip nah to each their own but cricket and plastic tip sucks.
I probably have the worst stance ever… like I’m shooting free throws. 😂 just started playing this fall but standing one leg forward I’m not very consistent at all.
This is my very first time playing darts. Always asking the players how they do it or am I the only who's hand eye coordination sucks? I will be aiming for the black/white of the 20 and end up hitting everything else but the 20. Not even to talk about the big double closing on a 301/501 or 701. Is there any hope for this girl, ever?
Darts is something I found people are either good or there not. Non complex grips being something you can replicate every time. A dart and weight that also compliments your throw style. People that throw darts toward the front of the barrel shouldn’t use a center or rear balanced dart and vise versa. That’s the biggest flaw I see is players not using the correct dart for there throw.
Unlike other video tutorials, I love the fact that your video shows different angles so I can have a better understanding of the different aspects of your stance and follow through!
Cheers mate!

I appreciate the comment.
I stand like he does in the video, tried standing flat on both feet and it killed my back
@@TechnologyAndHome Stand up strait and don't lean forward Keep a strait line from your ankle to your hip and to your armpit and you should not be having pain in your back with this stance.
Good luck .
Those are some sick calves bro !!!
Ha
The "guide dart" is referred to as the MARKER.👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
What size darts you throwing?
size? I have 23 gram Steel Tip barrels. All my equipment can be found in description.
question. when you said the darts have spinners on them. is that because of deflection? what kind of darts do you use? hell of a nice group by the way.
Yes and I don’t know the brand.
Sir, how can I get rid of the lack of my throw..because when I'm playing I have time to throw but the difficulty can be released when I dart..I hope you can answer my long -standing problem with my throw thanks more power in your channel. .
I love to help but can you be more specific or reword your question?
Any help on why 90% of my misses are left. 3.8 cricket, 33 PPD 01 player in soft tip
Those are SOLID numbers already. I’m not sure unless I saw you throw.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it.
Did you say your heel should be inline with the bull?
I’d have to Relisten
Whats your 3 dart avg?
It depends... Soft Tip or Steel Tip? Cricket or '01? Online play, League Play, Tournaments, etc. Did you find the video helpful?
@@IronmanDarts It's not bad, but I think you are not above 80 3da steel tip 501, which is OK. But I am also at that level and have been there for years.
Correct, I’m not even at 70 in Steel Tip.
Have you tried the nexus board yet
Nope, wanna send me one?! LOL
@@IronmanDarts haha I got luck and scored one on ebay for $300 new. On dart websites there $350 but sold out so now been seeing them go for 500 on Amazon and ebay which is crazy ain't worth 500
Very nice board if you can find one for retail price. No bounce outs best soft tip board I have played on
Follow through is very important but it comes naturally in the end you can't really force a follow through it's just about being limp and relaxed not tense 👌
Ok
What darts you use?
Don’t know the brand, sorry.
I'm playing darts 3 years and I'm crap so I'm here
You’re always Welcome here!
85 average in 01 in Soft Tip?
Have you considered a raised oche? It's simple to do and once you play on a raised oche you will never wanna go back. Thanks for making dart videos I wish it would catch on more in America. Also play steel tip nah to each their own but cricket and plastic tip sucks.
Interesting idea.. I haven't considered a raised oche.
are aiming with both eyes open?
???
@@IronmanDarts Many pistol shooters aim with one eye closed. When you aim you dart just before your backswing, do you close one eye, then open both?
@@randallkadish5663 oh, I have both eyes open and I'm left eye dominate.
@@IronmanDarts I am also left eye dominant so I throw darts and shoot lefty even though I am right handed.
Damn, someone never skips leg day.
Now make a video about calf training :D
I did on my fitness channel 💪
I probably have the worst stance ever… like I’m shooting free throws. 😂 just started playing this fall but standing one leg forward I’m not very consistent at all.
Find what works for you and make it your own.
Amazing tutorials. Amazing calves. This guy is the total fucking package. Cheers!!
Glad you like the dart content.
Calves 10/10 💪🏻
LOL
This is my very first time playing darts. Always asking the players how they do it or am I the only who's hand eye coordination sucks? I will be aiming for the black/white of the 20 and end up hitting everything else but the 20. Not even to talk about the big double closing on a 301/501 or 701. Is there any hope for this girl, ever?
Yes! Work on one thing at a time... record your throw and watch your mechanics and watch how the pros throw.
Interesting take.
Hey man , what happened your channel , I love your videos dude don’t give up keep going it’s great , I just want to know what happened
Taking time to reevaluate.
O dear me 😂 stuff like this does make me laugh
How so?
hehe..i think you better play Steeldart...becauso you nailed the board to hard. It must be damaged realy soon...
I don't throw very hard anymore :-)
Omg daddy 🔥
???
😃👍
Thank you!
This is no dart 🎉😂
What?
Michael smith move foward after his 3rd throw, dosnt matter, the dart is flying, you can do flip if you want....u know nothing about darts
Thanks you. Very insightful.
Bro you know nothing about darts . I can beat you challenge me 😉
Ok, thanks for watching.
Why are your calves so huge
Consistent Training and Genetics
That has to be the worst dartboard I have ever seen😊
Sorry to hear that.
Wtf!! Why is he using a kids dartboard!! Get a real one and "play" darts...you dont "shoot" darts
Sounds like this is your first visit to my channel. Welcome.
Thanks for sharing
