    This female police officer is smart enough and educated enough to understand that DJ is smarter and more educated about the law than she is. And she does not seem to feel threatened or triggered by that. Good on her. Most police officers in the UK could learn a lot from her attitude.

      Completely agree with you I only recently started watching DJ Audits but if he doesn't know something he goes out of his way to learn it examples are insurance, or a video which had a flight restriction to an area that only applied to helicopters. He also talks to everyone with respect so long as they do the same seems like a top lad.
      I do think in time the law around drones will change though because having a number (not necessarily a real one) on a drone can be done by anyone as its something the owner put onto them and without being able to check means you cannot find unlicensed drones or even know if the person you are asking owns said drone. I understand people want to maintain there privacy but I do think the police should be allowed to confirm everything is above board as I imagen they could be used to great effect casing out places to rob which is what everyone who spit there dummy's at DJ and other Auditors is probably concerned about and overeacting.

    Knowledge is key. You have the sense to determine your legal restraints by checking road marking. Fence Signage and combined business access. Additionally adding in information from drone assist. Your professional approach to staff who approach you to come to a conclusion to benefit both parties is spot on. You have covered all your bases before the Police arrived. Then the police weren't sure of boundaries or the law according to drone size. I'm pleased you weren't arrested. Well done I've learnt all this from you.

    I'm glad you made the point about so called "Stop and Account". You should probably also point out that the Police CANNOT use your refusal to talk to them or you walking away as a reason to arrest or detain you unless they have reasonable suspicion that you are, or about to, commit a crime (in which case Stop and account would not have been appropriate in the first place). RUclips auditors generally engage just for the footage, but could have (and should have) walked away if exercising/demonstrating rights was the real intention.

    • @aimerw
      @aimerw 4 месяца назад +1

      @@learntooilpaint I know what you mean. The issue I have is that _with the current climate_ of funding issues, does it make sense to send two police officers to a situation where they have no idea if there is any law to have been broken? Not just if a person has broken a law, but if there is even a law to break? Obviously, investigation _of a crime_ is often required - but investigation of a non-crime?
      I've been assaulted in public unprovoked (not even said a word to the offender) - had my nose broken - in the middle of the day walking past a busy highway with witnesses that came to help immediately afterwards. The police were called on a phone by a passerby who handed the phone over to myself, not minding the blood that got all over it. The only thing the police did was to tell me to carry on heading home and keep my nose pinched. No police were sent to attend the crime area or recover witness statements or get video footage from the nearby businesses. _Clearly, I should have been flying a drone at the time._
      EDIT: The police officers at the end of the video clarify they were called because DJ _may_ attempt to enter the restricted areas of the site - this is even more absurd! The place is like Fort Knox. At no point did DJ make any attempt to do that, nor mention any desire to do so. In fact, he was quite clear what and why he was in the area (which he did not need to do at all) and headed further away than likely necessary, while not attempting to hide in any way. This would be like me calling the police because someone walks past my house and I am worried they may try to enter. Why did the police choose to attend such a non-incident?

    It's refreshing to see a UK perspective on this sort of audit/video. There's so many USA one's around but a UK police force's way of dealing with it is very different so, as I'm in the UK, it's nice to see how it works here. I've not seen many, if any, US versions with a drone - I wonder how they'd react to that. I reckon the police did well here, as did DJ Audits. Nice explanations of actions (like walking away when not detained) but engaging and trying to find out boundaries rather than just being confrontational for the sake of getting content is a great approach to making useful videos which are pretty entertaining too.

I suspect that the Loomis van didn't back up to the shutters because the CCTV cameras could see you were filming it and obviously waiting till the van doors opened so you could miraculously vault over the very high, razor-wire topped double fences and nick 2 or 3 tons of polymer dosh.
