love this comparison!!! and technique. think I’m forever a horizontal lol… monolids really are so versatile!! I look like a different person every time 😂
Youre right...as an asian dude...wow i havent seen an asian girl with a monolid for the longest time...every single one of em out there getting surgury....
@@jinsu0504you do realize a lot of asian girls naturally don’t have monolids, right? lmao it’s not always surgery. i’m east asian and never had monolids
I have korean monolids, horizontal is my go-to! It was difficult to find them beautiful since back when I was in school, everything revolved around double eyelids or hooded eyes. Happy to say that I'm very happy with my beautiful monolid eyes!
I love how makeup can cause our perception to shift! I'm not monolidded, but my eyes can look round, especially depending on my glasses, so seeing how to enlarge my eyes horizontally and potentially avoid too vertical of an eye look may be helpful.
I can't put into words how much you helped me! my eyes are almost monolids and I have very little space between my eyelid and my eyebrow, what makes my eyes look tiny! So what always helped me make my eyes bigger was vertical makeup, but i could never do it 😢 until now! thank you so much for the tips, really, they helped me a lot !
it's interesting how RUclips brings me to videos I needed to see! Been wanting to do makeup to make my eyes look bigger and brighter and then this! Will try this vertical one at the next social event!
I prefer vertical on myself because I want my eyes to look bigger and rounder but the horizontal looks so good on you! Both do, but yeah the horizontal looks sexier
That's great! My eyes are almond shaped, so I naturally go to horizontally, but they're heavily hooded, which makes the winged eyeliner a nightmare to draw. Being almond and hooded, I have a hard time making my eyes big and round when I'm cosplaying manga characters or Hatsune Miku. I'm gonna try your vertical side tricks to see if it helps!
As somone with double eyelids (or whatever you call it) I find monolids so beautiful and the makeup application always looks so seamless in a way that my lids would never allow
i have hooded asian eyes (almost monolid) and horizontal looks the best on me. But i still can't perfect the technique so sometimes it just looks smaller than bigger 😭
Hi Elaine - what do you recommend for hooded lids? When only use eyeliner on the outer corner bc when I line all the way across, my hooded lid covers the liner and it looks a bit weird; that said, I would still like to line all the way or the corners to have that more fox eyes look/try it out. Also, my left inner lid doesn’t really show, but my right inner corner lid shows a lot more so it looks very uneven. Looking forward to your recommendations! ❤
@@SwtAngel2 My most recent video is about my eyeliner so I feel like that’ll be able to help you! About the uneven eyes, you can try to cheat it with trying to balance that out with eyeshadow:) hope that answered ur questions💕
I would avoid putting too much eyeshadow and thick eyeliner on the top eyelid but emphasize more of the undereye with eyeshadow and eyelashes like ^ mentioned:)
it depends on what you want to deemphasize really. if you dont want the shortness of your face to be noticeable, do horizontal. if you dont want the wideness to be emphasized, then do vertical. vertical makeup is good for faces with longer faces particularly those with longer midfaces bcs then it takes the attention away from the middle of the face, towards the eyes and creating a shorter midface. i know bcs i have a long face and cat eyes look horrible on me bcs it makes my eyes look even smaller. horizontal however emphasizes the wideness of the face but it looks good and balanced with shorter faces.
Vertical eyes are more flattering on Elaine because her face is already square and broad. That's not a bad thing. Square faces are actually very common amongst fashion models because they're naturally sculpted. You just need to balance the proportions.

Ohhh, this is a way better way to put it. I was always thinking of Western vs. Asian makeup. This is much more descriptive!

Wow. This is a masterclass in how subtle tweaks can make an enormous difference! Thank you for sharing.
Horizontal >>> looks badasss!!
its like fox eye vs doe eye :0
Love that you do videos that don't have a lot of unnecessary information. You went right at the tutorial. THANK YOU!

ur so talented, im going to try horizontal
My asymmetrical face in a nutshell lol
Both look great, but I'm loving the horizontal in particular. Can't wait to try this.
Love this! I mostly do horizontal makeup for eyes because I find it the easiest but after watching this video, I can try out vertical!
i love how different you look. i may try this! i like the bedroom
eyes but maybe ill be vertical mostly
Straight to the point!! Love youu

You really help me for monolid eye makeup tips n tricks
Yayyy:) im gladd💓
Thx for the tips.
Vertical. I'm cute, not sexy ❤🕊️
Such a helpful video for a makeup noob like me lol XP
It's really helpful. Your explanation and tutorial very clear
Awwhhh thats the best thing to hear
Thank you 👏
Slams the save button
Idk why but I feel like you should try Wonhee from Illits makeup! You guys look very similar
What?! wow thank you hahah thats a first!
I think I used the vertical coz I can't do the winged eyeliner

I'm not Asian but thus will help me thank you ❤
Hi, what contour and highlight pallet do you use?
I use etude house contour powder and etude house’s old highlighter that got discontinued:(
What about those of us with monolids and brows that are much, much closer to our eyes? I have hardly any space above my eyes to put makeup.
Horizontal only. Edit Eva Green also does many looks just w the undereye area done
I would avoid putting too much eyeshadow and thick eyeliner on the top eyelid but emphasize more of the undereye with eyeshadow and eyelashes like ^ mentioned:)
i really love the vertical side but im not sure i can pull it off
Everybody has different eye/face shape so you should adjust the verticle look to what looks the best on you:)
what if you mix both so your eyes be bigger and longer?
@@catoftruth1044 that is exactly what i do hahahahah:) get the best of both worlds💘✨

If my face appears a bit short and wider, should I do vertical or horizontal eye makeup guys?
vertical

this is just how both of my eyes look like without makeup lol
Squinty eyes lol
I don't think she has squinty eyes. It's the monolids that makes it look smaller looking but eyes themselves are not "squinty"
ew racist
She probably looks better than you lol
