The first 2 lines set the tone… “never was a thug, just infatuated with guns” guns, metaphorically talking about rappin (and literally), “never was a gangsta, till I graduated to one” he wasn’t a gangsta, just a mc still he signed with Dr Dre… who was Dre with at the time? Death Row. Now Em has to step up and hold his own against everything that comes with that… some real street life people in that camp too. It’s one of those, “if you know, you know” type things. That whole west coast 90’s scene was legit.
