    Finally we got them together on stage and with this beautiful live performance.
    Along with RATATATA this was definitely one of the highlights at FOX_FEST and a lot of Japanese fans were looking for, I guess that cool slow pace city pop element gives some nostalgia and that's why many fans love it.
    In a recent interview, Tim and Scott talked about a new song in their upcoming album along with BM, let's see what they got but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be something real good like this one.
    I understand your concerns about this performance but like i said, this is a fans favorite (especially among Japanese) and they have no choice but to make this happen, also from my understanding Polyphia are not the type of band looking for flashy stage presence, they focus mainly on the instrumental execution, that's why we got the girls filling that space.
    Anyway always nice to see you around Joel. See you next time.🦊🤘🌅

    In the nineties, I watched a Madonna sound check from the FOH mix. It was all about Madonna and the two dancer-singers with her. The band was anonymous. To me, Babymetal is working the same, very successful formula. Everybody is anonymous except the star, so the management has complete control over costs. There’s a movie about a Sting tour where the gifted drummer, now well-known, wants a raise and the manager tells him that nobody in Sting’s audience could care less about him. Here, the bass player and drummer of Polyphia are being thrown away. Last I looked, they are also pretty good musicians.

    We finally got the live performance with both bands after the original release in 2019!! I absolutely love this song, and I think it's one of Babymetal's best "chill" songs. While not as "lively" as a typical Babymetal performance, this song is not meant to be. It is done in Polyphia's style, and they are one of my go to bands to throw some headphones on while reading/lounging. I bet you will enjoy this song much more in that setting versus comparing the stage presence to Ratatata.
    I do hope you check out some Polyphia as well, they are an eclectic instrumental band and incredible musicians. I bet you'll enjoy their music:
    *GOAT*
    *Playing God*
    *Ego Death ft. Steve Vai*
    Polyphia also mentioned recently they will be doing another collab with Babymetal, can't wait!
    🤘🦊

    Even Dragon Force played with minimal movement when performing with BABYMETAL 😅

      where would they have moved to anyway small stage with a literal choreo going on in between them like what was this guy on about

    Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I love the way how BABYMETAL edit the video. I witnessed this at the venue (2 times on Day-1 & 2). What a bliss!! Soothing and exquisite performance by 5 elegant figures in the center 😍. Classy support by our Kami Band on both sides (4 guitars in total) ❤. The applause at the end was much much much bigger than that recorded in this video.

    If they cut away from the choreo people will bitch about not seeing the band. If they focus on the band people will bitch about not seeing the choreo. This is a laid back, vibe song. And yeah you are going to get some fire for your criticisms of Tim and Scott. They are literally god level guitar players and what people want to see is them play guitar, not move.

    DO check out Polyphia if you haven't heard them before. "Playing God" was my introduction. As for Tim and Scotties' stage presence and moving around, well it's all in the fingers.

    You should look into Polyphia some more. Jim Henson is one of the best guitarists out there.

    I think the stage was small and so there wasn't alot of moving around. There really isn't a comparison with EC's collab. I thought it was good performance just lackluster. Su's vocals were great as usual. But these guys are guitar players and the song is what it is. Metali with Tom Morello would lend itself to more excitement and moving around. Great reaction as always.

    Surprised that you still disliked the editing of this video. Since it's WAAAAAY more chill than RATATATA and Kingslayer for example. We are never going to get a live musicvideo like this with a completely static camera shot so if that's what you want then you are going to be disappointed every time:D. Also kind of hard for Tim and Scott to walkaround on that tiny platform while babymetal is doing their choreo in the middle of it without bumping into them and ruining the show:D. Ofcourse then you can say that they should build a bigger platform but that is a completely different argument:D

    This is a beautiful performance and great collaboration. If you don’t know Polyphia, they are Prog-Metal. You might check out their video of Ego Death featuring Steve Vai, This was, if I’m not mistaken from the recent Fox Fest festival. Babymetal featured many artists they have worked with in the past. Go figure as it’s Babymetal’s festival. It can be difficult in the atmosphere to highlight (dance etc..) with all the groups they are working with. Personally, I like this performance and don’t mind the minimal interaction between the two bands.

    How can you call yourself a reactor and not know Polyphia? 😆You should check them out. They don't move a lot, its not their thing. What they do is play guitars like just about no one else. Tim Henson is widely regarded as one of the most innovative players out there. Check out Playing God or Ego Death.

    The song has its time now, it was released in 2019 in the Metal Galaxy album. Sadly they couldn't perform it until right now because of what was going on in the world. Like all Babymetal collabs, this song builds heavily on the spirit of the author they are collaborating with; in this case, it catches the very technical, breaking and innovative guitar technique and the chill spirit of Polyphia's music. For me it was always one of the least favorite songs of Babymetal, but it's ok.

      @@joelroadie Hmm not a big expert on them, but for example ABC was a big success for them past year. Later Koiai / LisaX covered the song in a pretty good version, it was the first time Kotono acted as their new singer. A very weird mesh of pop and the usual polyphia's progressive rock, that track.

    Would you be satisfied if they were to jump around on such a small stage? They're not Van Halen and this isn't that type of song. Your opinion is completely off the mark.

  • @yolandria

    In all honesty...I wouldn't call this song a true collab. It's more of a guest feature. I'm surprised they even made an appearance honestly. But it was a nice touch having the guys on stage. Only took them 5 years to make it. I would love to see Alissa make an appearance next for "Distortion".

    • @Tyyppl
      @Tyyppl 11 дней назад +3

      I mean that's exactly why the title says "featuring" while for RATATATA for example it just says BABYMETAL x Electric Callboy.

    I agree with the sentiment of "please just lock it off", I'd buy the Blurays if they had like a bonus disc with a locked off wide shot of the stage. I know editors can do a lot to build feeling into videos but I think it can distract from their choreo. And I'm not the type of dude who normally worries about things like choreo.

  • @robote7679
    @robote7679 11 дней назад +1

    I have to agree on the video editing. Way too much "lets cut like crazy to show how exciting it is". Personally I think this song is good but it feels kinda chunky. There is never a spot where-to me at least-a real groove gets moving and there's no way to favorably compare it to the chemistry and "I GOTTA move of Ratatatata! I think the Polyphia guys got 16 beats for their solos-which sounded really great. I would have given them 32 beats to let them stretch out a bit. I think you and I are going to have a minority view on this one though. Oh well. As the saying goes there's no accounting for taste.

    Last time I checked there is no requirement for guitarist to dance.
    As to Electric Cowboy, phatic juvenile act by men too old to pull it off.
