    I actually prefer coated strings because of the feel so not for me

    Might have to try these out - though I'm already happy with how well their regular strings last! I figured the brightest strings were the coated ones, as having lots of people try them all day would in theory dull the non coated strings faster...

    I really wanted to love these, they felt like uncoated strings which I thought was fantastic! They'd clearly achieved their goal! Then, they proceeded to rust and wear in just a few days more than I get out of uncoated strings

      I don't know about you, man, but I'm usually changing my strings once a year and they never rust. Sure they go dead in time, but rust? Nope.

    The comments I read on demo videos of the D'A XT seem to indicate that people are missing one of the most critical potential benefits. By eliminating the oxidation that forms on the treble strings, the coating should DRAMATICALLY reduce fret wear. With regular strings, the layer of corrosion that forms (after a few days of use) is like sandpaper on your frets.

    That sales guy is pretty adamant that the tone is the same, when you can clearly hear they arent. Ive put these and NYXL back to back, same gauge , on a Gibson LP p90 Special. There was definitely a difference in feel. The XT dont feel as "plastic" as coated strings, but definitely moreso than NYXL. I dislike coated strings, but can deal with these if it means longer life and less corrosion.

    What im not into is the price...retailers charge outrageous difference with the “normal” sets...if im buying one regular at 45 (used to be 35 or less for NYXL), coated will be up to 60 in my country’s currency :/

    I used to hate coated strings. But I started using the D'Addario coated phosphor bronze, and loved them. I've recently started using their coated electric strings, too. They feel just the slightest bit "slick" to me, but in a good way. And the ones I've been using on the acoustics, I had one set last five years.

    • @sc12100
      @sc12100 3 года назад +1

      Im with you on that.
      I cant stand coated strings and really was never a fan of D'Addario. But I decided to try out the older EXP (Pre XT) coated strings. I cringed when i bought them and figured they'd be off my guitar in a day or two.
      They've been on my Martin HD28 for a couple weeks and sound really good - and I honestly cant tell they're a coated string.
      Not gonna lie - Im impressed

    "That one!", "No...", "That one!", "No...", (and for the hat-trick) "That one!", "No...". Andy's 1% of confidence was shattered under the "lab-like" conditions created by D'addario. Science!! I can't wait to try out those strings. Oh..and extra kudos to you for those confident assertions, after it stopped being fun, when choosing the guitar that had the XT strings.
