I think I can understand in a way. My mom divorced my dad because of my dad’s mom. It was quite difficult for her always being under the control of her husband’s mom and her husband (my dad) didn’t really stand up for himself or her which kinda affected the relationship between them.

I bet he can do those things, all dads can do that. but you can't really say in public that during those times they were not on good terms so it's safe to reason those things. lol

For me when it comes about separation, be it either married, fiancé or a couple. There will always have 3 stories. Her story, his story, or the true story that neither both of them probably realized. Cause for me there’s no perfect person. We can said what we want to do for our loved ones, but there will always be circumstances or problems or whatever it is that will make you the bad person in front of your loved ones. We are human that knows what wrong and right, but we are also human who have emotions that we can never control it good in 100%. As a married person myself,I learned that it takes a lot of give and take also a lot of calm talks between the both. You can’t be the only one taking or giving cause once your loved ones collective emotions over all days marriage are through the roof, they will only wanted a divorce cause they knows being single is actually less stress. This is a fairly old video, and I rarely comment, but I think a lot of the judgment in the comments is uncalled for. His dating history is no one’s business but his and his partner’s… For those of you insulting his past in the comments, I’m assuming you have the perfect romantic history- met your soulmate right off the bat and married them, never making a single mistake or misjudgment. Bless you because you must be a saint! Just because his romantic life was made public doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Why are ya’ll so bitter over relationships that weren’t yours? It’s weird that you find it’s your place to “forgive him” and make harsh judgments about his entire identity based on one facet of his life.
The whole point of the show is to give insight into the “unorthodox” lives of older men, so it’s normal that his role as a single father would be touched upon as it’s a big part of his life and identity. If you think this is image making, I don’t doubt it, but from the beginning he’s not been given a choice as to what part of his personal life was exposed to the world. So, him trying to take control of the narrative and share his point of view isn’t something inherently bad.
His wife seems to be doing a wonderful job of raising their daughter and he clearly cares for her deeply. I hope he continues to become more confident in his involvement in her life and responsibilities as a father. Regardless, he and his wife have come to a coparenting agreement that works for the both of them.

I don't know the reasons for their separation and I don't want to know but, people get divorce for some of the stupid reasons that aren't grounds to split up a family. Often I hear from one , ' he/she doesn't make me happy anymore ' . Your partner isn't responsible for your happiness. They cannot control your emotional feelings even if they are bad people. Emotions for couples are like grief of a lost loved one , everyone griefs differently. If a couple is separated and they are in the mind-set to continue to raise their children with reasons and maintaining a friendly relationship then there in my humble opinion was never a good reason for divorce. ' In sickness and in health, for better or for worst ,for richer or poorer, till death do us part ' that is what is said . Not till I don't feel happy with my life because I think there will be better to come. Life is long and often I meet people who are much older than me who get divorce for silly reasons and it's one of their regrets.

I think he is a pretty basic good father, this is the minimun all fathers out there should be, if he want he can learn to be a even better father to his daugther in the future, being divorce dosen't allow you to become a bad father/mother.
