    Good review, thank you. Just bought this for a steal with 3K screen i7 2.90GHz /8GB RAM,500GB HD, 15" Screen, Windows 8.1 Pro. Last of the Mohicans indeed :)

    Trackpoint is my #1 requirement in a laptop, it pisses me off that they took away the buttons and I just bought one of these online used and didn't notice. Thanks for the review and for showing the previous generation of this laptop which is probably what I'm going to buy now and sell the T540P that I just bought.

      You can swap that trackpad for the old kind very easily, and they cost $15. So need to swap out the whole laptop, just swap in the trackpad. Google it, there are a ton of guides.

      @@yablokosmonaut571 - Yes sir, I saw a lot of information about that online and that's exactly what I ended up doing. My laptop had some warranty remaining and it needed some issues addressed before it expired so the warranty outfit agreed to do the swap for me while it's there...looking forward to getting back with 3 buttons soon.

      It didn't copy, is the ADATA SU800 512GB 2.5 inch SATA III on Amazon recommended? Not sure what brand of RAM you were installing. Hoping you can provide. Thanks.

      Hi, about RAM I just look on spec, I don’t care about brand, it’s just letters. SSD is a bit different tho, cheap drives do fail in a bad way. I like to go with crucial, adata or intel.

    can i ask how you paid for this laptop? because i think what you did is really smart! I'm ready to pay 1000-1200$ for a laptop like that with an i7 processor and then add the upgrades when i can afford it!

    I bought the Lenovo t540p Core i7. i am with 576mb of Intel HD 4600 Dedicated Video, i want to know if how to increase Intel HD 4600 Dedicated Video Memory up to 1gb?

    • @techteststutorialsHD

      Unfortunatly there is nothing you can do, iGPU shares VRAM with system. It’s rather slow.

    Hi, when you were disassembling the service cover in the video it looked really easy, but I'm having issues - i can't seem to put it back on properly - on the left edge where there is that oval shaped thing (looks like a hole on the service cover, near left screw), it won't go down - is there a trick to it?
    Let me know soon!! Thanks!

    • @techteststutorialsHD
      @techteststutorialsHD  8 лет назад

      I'm not sure if I understand the issue correctly, but from mine experience, sometimes when the flap is held both by screws and small clips, it feels awkward to hear that loud clicking while you screw in. When you are sure that everything is aligned properly this sound is normal. The clips will close first once the screw is in 3/4 of its way. Some times you need to screw in a bit and the press gently the flap, till you will feel it clips, and then screw all the way down. Just be sure that everything fits as it should.

    • @Jeca299
      @Jeca299 8 лет назад

      Thank you so much, after days of suffering it's back in!! Another related question, how would you suggest taking off the wireless service cover? I unscrewed the screw, and prised it a bit open a few cms down with a flat screwdriver, but how can i unlock the other clips further down?

    • @techteststutorialsHD
      @techteststutorialsHD  8 лет назад

      Usually you shouldn't use screwdriver for prying, it's better to use a guitar pick or plastic prying tool or credit card.... something plastic that will not damage the cover, patience is always required too... Once you will open a few covers you will have experience to use metal tools too. Just take your time, be sure that you know where all screws and clips are. Good luck!

      Thanks for the tips :) Also, to access the cooling fan do I need to remove the optical drive & palm rest/keyboard? And then pry it open around the edges of the laptop?

      Well it was a year ago since I've opened this laptop for the last time, and I don't have one right now, so I can't tell you that, sorry.

      Sure if you’re on budget. But swap the screen for IPS, be nice to your eyes :-) If not you could hunt a nice L580 and get better battery life and more modern cpu.
