- Is George Lucas' Star Wars the product of time travel plagiarism? Wow. In honor of May the Fourth, we present to you a very true accounting of the history of the Star Wars movies. All the characters you know and love-- Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, Rey and Kylo Ren, Han Solo and Chewbacca, The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, Porkins and Baby Admiral Akbar, Yoda, Darth Vader, Rey, Boba Fett, Baby Baby Yoda (an even younger one) -- were they all created by someone else? In the future? And then a bunch of sci-fi stuff happened and George Lucas pretended to write Star Wars? Wow.

Confession: we're time travelers ourselves, and came back in time after stealing this premise from a great youtube sketch duo who we can't name for legal reasons.
So tell us, what would you time-travel-plagiarize if you had the chance?
Winner gets sent back in time.
(And psst, if you'd like to see some deleted scenes from this sketch, a director's commentary and more-- or if you just wanna help us keep making this kind of stuff--check out our patreon: www.patreon.com/chrisandjack )
The bible
But I would write that anyone who wants to get into heaven must celebrate the existence of dinosaurs on July Sixth
And must consume dino nuggets to celebrate this momentous occasion
Lord of the Rings for sure
PS you might want to edit the patreon link above to not have the ) as part of it
It'd have to be something I can remember from memory... so probably I'd write all the greatest pop hits before they get written so I get the royalties.
i would plagiarize a game like skyrim and call of duty or just "borrow" harry potter
What would I plagiarize? Grays Sports Almanac, Complete Sports Statistics, 1950-2000.
Just kidding. I would only get kind of rich at first, because if the same person kept winning, they would definitely shut down gambling entirely. And even if they didn't, who would bet on something when they're almost always going to lose to the same guy?
I would steal Jurassic Park, and make sure it was released on July 6th, 1993 instead of June 9, 1993. I don't care if it was on a Tuesday after the 4th of July holiday weekend!
Describing the varying quality of Star Wars media as being the result of a time traveler's imperfect recollections of a better franchise is honestly pretty accurate
* cries in Thrawn trilogy *
It explains why the subversive subtext was so ahead of its time that it was largely removed in editing, although that had mostly to do with the bad pacing of the expository dialogue.
The irony of this is that IRL, George was accused of stealing ideas from Dune and Star Wars sidelining the original Dune franchise.
Makes sense. Lol
Yeah makes sense
When time travel becomes a thing, I'm totally coming back to steal this skit idea.
Well, sorry to bring bad news, but that's your skit. All of them are yours. In two weeks you would've come up with the idea for youtube show with different comedy bits, but... Well... Not in this timeline🥲
@@sora_mugenDammit! Lol
when time travel becomes a thing I'm gonna steal this skit then in a different timeline steal this comment except its your channel and completely break space time to where we both get deleted
In the original Kenneth Bell movie, they fell into a trash incinerator rather than a compactor, but in the mid 70s, Towering Inferno was so popular that George felt he had to change it and created the iconic trash compactor scene in the process.
That’s totally understandable. Plus, I remember from my Time Adjustment & Manipulation class in third grade that the incinerator scene was modeled a little bit on the wood chipper scene in Fargo, obviously with some creative license on the part of King Bell of Earth.
Jack fits...strangely well as George Lucas.
Yeah, turns out a white chinstrap beard is really transformative.
“Probably not as crazy as my thing but go ahead” such a perfect line read
@@oregonjohnson the song and the wipe… perfect
@@ChrisandJackRogue Santa was truly a masterpiece of fake facial hair

i love the implication that writing starwars but like really good basically makes you a full dictator with none of the moral downsides of being a dictator, it's so specific
Also I’m positive it’s literally the plot of a stranger in a strange land accept the polycule never addressed the downsides of being in essentially a cult orgry
@@tbuckley2031you’re telling me Hollywood glamorized degeneracy and didn’t talk about the downsides, I’d be so shocked if I didn’t have a brain
@@tbuckley2031Also this would have to have an author self-insert that is not into the polycule cult orgy but also he wrote himself to be involved in it so it sort of reads as a cnc fetish.
@@tbuckley2031Also except this doesn’t include an author’s self-insert OC who is coerced into the cult orgy
@@tbuckley2031 i mean, its *a* plot point in stranger in a strange land that they formed a sex cult. not the entire plot. the entire plot is actually even weirder
I like the idea that george didnt steal star wars just invented a holograph projector and picked on poor chris just to mess with him
"Fuck that guy in particular" - George 'Plaid Shirts Are High Fashion' Lucas
Classic Georgie!
Same here
It literally just dawned on me today that George Lucas saw a time machine, decided to travel back in time to make Star Wars, and didn’t check his facts. Like, he didn’t buy a dvd of it or anything, he just said ‘why not?’ And did it. He didn’t even watch it first, he raw dogged it from memory
The one is petty theft, the other would be organised crime.
@@steffenbendel6031that's not organized crime
Can't believe they actually got George Lucas to show up again after he clogged every toilet in the office last time. Brave of Chris and Jack, especially considering the hefty hazmat bill he stuck them with.
what?
@@RedCaioY'know, it's a well known fact
"your guess Is as good as mine. A little better actually" amazing line
It was mine
YOU'RE TELLING ME GEORGE LUCAS COULD HAVE PREVENTED 9/11 BUT HE CHOSE TO MAKE ATTACK OF THE CLONES INSTEAD?!?!
He prevented 9/12, 9/13, and 9/14 from Ken’s timeline. Shame he missed one though.
He saw that one episode from family guy
He actually prevented 9/11 in September of 2000. He thought he was in the clear until 1 year later and it happened anyway.
Oh, no, he indirectly caused it.
You see, star wars was originally meant to come out around this time. But obviously, George made it early, which lead to a convoluted string of events, that resulted in 9/11
No, 9/11 was a Georgie original
"premieres in 2 hours". Too bad I'm not a time traveller.
I mean, you are... just in one direction.
@@ajbeals5391
Wait!! He was in One Direction??? Which timeline?
@@timopper5488The one where Cocomelon was a supercar manufacturer instead of a RUclips channel compiling children's sing along songs.
Weird, but the movie "Yesterday" was incepted very similarly. Jack Barth, a non-accomplished writer thought to himself once, that he would probably not be able to attain massive success even if he wrote Star Wars. Someone has been traveling in time.
Yesterday was a great film.
@@bable6314it is a great tribute to the Beatles.
It's a mediocre film.
July Sixth Park, a classic Georgie original. All in due time, of course.
i kinda wanna celebrate July Sixth Park from now on tbh
I love how the semi-accurate George Lucas “accent” just kinda progressively disappears lol
I love that you technically did release this on international Star Wars Day as it is technically that for half the world at the time of writing this
Of course. So this video was released both in the future AND the past!
That Star Wars screen swipe caught me off guard and made me burst out laughing.
You’re not going to believe this, but I always had this weird feeling like Chris wrote Star Wars.
I appreciate the Mistborn trilogy on the bookshelf when George sits down 👏
And Name of the Wind!
I wish I could enjoy the series as much as others but it’s hard nonetheless
@@Iyforthiswhy is it so? I enjoyed both very much
“Infinite temporal freedom in the palm of my hands” is a sick line!!!
Kinda "stolen"/copied from Spiderman 2 (the original Sam Raimi version),
"The power of the sun in the palm of my hand"
@@jimmyh2137 sorry to break it to you, George Lucas wrote this too! just not in our timeline
I love that the Failure to Launch script ends up being basically like giving Kenneth a lottery ticket that doesn’t win.
2:28 i kinda like how much it fixes to put the prequels first, 3 decent movies building to a really strong second trilogy, and presumably chris never sold off to disney so his starwars wouldve stopped at 6, in which case the entire franchise would probably be remembered as really good
Exactly. And you know all the people in our current timeline who, even after the Disney sequel trilogy came out were saying that there’s only six Star Wars movies? Well, those people are from Sir Kenneth Bell’s timeline! (He gets knighted by robot Queen Elizabeth in 2043.)
The video mentions the ST exists in Kenneth’s timeline but with way more foreshadowing for Palpatine’s return.
@@Tuckerscreator
Oh that’s right. Which is why the sequel trilogy is so much better in Kenneth’s timeline! It’s almost as if the vision of one person instead of a hodge-podge of hired-gun writers and directors would make a superior film series.
Is this communal gaslighting? The prequels were not considered decent movies before the sequels came along (and i like them)
@@TheEnecca n now they are, times change womp womp
Makes as much sense as anything. Memory problems could explain the differences in quality between the original trilogy and the prequels.
I knew it. I've always looked at Chris and thought "I bet the world would have been amazing if he wrote Star Wars...if only."
5:35 great Palpatine moment
Y'know, for the longest time I felt I had all these sketches just building up inside of me, all about like satirising heist films and spy films, maybe one about the idea of reliving a day over and over again (that one felt like it would be really popular)...
Jack as George Lucas is so inspired 😂
Spoiler alert! George modeled his look after Jack’s in the year 2052 in the timeline where this RUclips video first appeared.
I have legit thought about doing something like this if I could time travel
so in another future you did do this but they time traveled and did it before you could do it
@@24601st lmao
If I could time travel, I would take the opportunity to re write a hated show in this timeline.
This is one of your best sketches honestly
Hopefully he doesn't try to strangle baby George Lucas in the crib. That could create a Force Ghost Paradox Pandemic.
absolute banger. Hilarious premise, great execution. Neat rope bridge art too, things huge
1:40 I see Mistborn on the shelf! Cool to see another SanderFan.
Any reality with Chris and Jack is the best timeline.
This made me realize just how much George Lucas sounds like Dr. Evil
i like that he didn't take a recording back with him.
but he had a script of the other one
Man this was a really good idea, y’all have outdone yourselves this time, every upload is just constantly ingenious with the pacing and the script. Seriously I love y’all’s content and y’all make my day every time.
How are these guys not HUGE? I just stumbled across their channel and am blown away by how good their content is. Subscribed.
How are they so consistentently funny?
Amazing video guys, absolutely hilarious, and great callbacks for us longtime fans
This was delightful
You guys continue to make high-quality content. Thank you. This channel is one of the best out there by far. Much love 🤣💚
After watching a ton of videos, I just now learned that Jack voiced Sokka. Amazing VA and amazing videos!
The thing that really gets me about this are the screenwipes
2:31 So in Kenneth's original it was "Luke, I am your father" instead of "No, I am your father".
This is an excellent explanaion of why if you write down Star Wars plots on paper they all sound great until you get into the actual dialogue and execution. They're being poorly recalled by an opportunistic hack stealing from someone with actual talent.
This is masterpiece! As always! Love you guys!
This is a banger. Jack is perfect as George.
I'm glad others can't get over Jack's character observation and performance as George... Uncanny
Ummm.... they kinda forgot George Lucas also did Indiana Jones.
Hell yeah I got here to see an amazing George Lucas impression
This was fantastically well made!
This makes more sense given the fact that Frank Herbert always said Star Wars was a ripoff of Dune. So the fact that Kenneth would finalize the idea for Star Wars right now when the Dune movies are at the peak of their popularity is just perfect timing.
Missed opportunity at the end credits, written and directed by Chris and Jack.
Should have crossed that out to say George Lucas.
1:50 The holiday special? An anomaly of time.
This single-handedly is the best video ever. Jack is the perfect George Lucas and I need more of it.
"Failure to launch" actually made $130 million on a $50 million budget. So very successful.
This concept is literally so smart, like why does it make so much sense? It’s great, I could watch a whole series with this premise
0:28 southern new Canada?
*we did it*
*we conquer it all*
Awesome sketch! The after credits joke is my favorite. Makes me wish I was from George Lucas's original timeline.
Tbf at least this george did a good work making a movie with old tech when the original was done in 2024
No the original was written in 2027, so the film probably would have been done much later.
@@subaru4920 Ohh you are right, so he probably was doing something from the late 2030s at least
What an absolutely unforgivable thing to do to a person, good lord. Stealing their life's work? Impossibly selfish and evil
I guess the real starwars was inside us all along
Crazy, I was going to write this sketch in four years.
You guys are easily the highest quality skit writers on the platform. It's insane that you manage to reach the same astronomically high level of quality every time. You guys are astounding.
The lighting into "Do it" is great.
I had never thought of IP and time travel before. What an original idea!
OR IS IT!?
In the cesspit that is youtube sketch comedy, your videos never fail to amaze me! Always funny, always smart and original. Thanks!
Some of the answers are completely different than the short. Not just shortened, absolutely fully different
George is just fucking with Jack. Aint no way a movie that wasn't a reboot or sequel would get funding to become a big blockbuster in 2027.
WAITTTT DID CHRIS MAKE JULY 6TH PARK IN THE J6P SKITS TIMELINE AND THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THAT SERIES HERE BECAUSE OF WHAT GEORGE LUCAS SAID?!?!?!?! I KIND OF NEED A CONFIRMATION NOW BECAUSE THIS IS MY HEADCANON NOW!
I liked seeing the Mistborn Trilogy on his shelf. Good taste in reading material!
Now i want to know who was casted in the "original" movies.
Considering how casting happens in the modern day it probably was a bunch of big name actors who really didn’t need to be in a best selling movie franchise
“Do it” must be a Georgie original line too
"July 6th Park" might sound like "Jurassic Park" but July 6th is already a movie holiday. "Sixth of July" = "it's True Lies"
The idea that we are all actually, genuinely in the worst timeline because of time travel and greed and pretty poor memory on the part of a series of time pirates?
Yeah. Honestly. That kind of tracks.
"Yeah, in my timeline we had this amazing president who ran on Hope & Change. He really transformed the country with incredible bold policies & kickstarted a 2nd American golden age, but like WAY better than the first. Anyway, everybody loved him so I figured I would just go back & run on all those policies.
Turns out I didn't actually know how he achieved any of those things behind the scenes & then I got bogged down with this whole birth certificate thing 'cause I haven't been born yet so I didn't actually get around to passing any of the cool stuff the other guy did...
Still widely beloved though. Crazy, right?"
Man, I would love it if Kenneth could come through with the original original cut and make things right. Give us the future cuts!
I'm so glad I found your channel
y’all are killing me with the wipes 😂❤
My favorite part is the deterministic twist. Star Wars was IS bound to happen in every past, present and future
“The holiday special?
“The what? I didn’t hear you”
Oh, man, I cannot tell you how loudly I cackled at your end-credits scene. Way to throw that in!
Goddammit. Now if time travel gets invented, we will never know who made what
Chris and Jack came back to tell me i actually came up with the idea for this video 😔
But wait if at least multiple Star Wars movies came out before this interaction, and this interaction ended with George Lucas being born, how would the movies be credited to George???
This... was beautiful
This concept honestly makes me sad, the fact that he stole the guy’s entire life in this short
The screen fade cut in the middle was perfect
The choice of wipes in this video are chef kiss. Also a Georgie original.
This is AWESOMEE I love this so much XD Thanks for this, I've subscribed now!
You two are awesome actors ^^
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker is the novelization of the 1977 film Star Wars, ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster, but credited to George Lucas.
Just noticed the classic screen wipe transitions 😂
Just great! Now I'll spend the rest of my existence obsessing over the concept of a polyhorde!😂😏🥵😡
Thanks for another fun time, guys.
Loved the J6P call back.
“Make it as your own”
“This is Alien”
“Oh fuck Ridley Scott is a time traveler too?”
Has anyone else noticed that if you shorten Chris' character's name, you get Ken O.B. (Kenobi)? If that's intended, that's a really clever easter egg!
Idk whose house y’all are filming at, but at 2:27 I can see the Mistborn trilogy on the bookshelf. I’m currently reading it(on the third book) and I’m really enjoying it. Don’t know why I spotted that.
…Also great video btw!
That last little bumpy dumpidi
The wipe transition though XD
July Sixth Park callback? That’s a Georgie
Bruh, imagine the old movies with today’s technology, wonder if it’d manage to be better or just miss out on that unique feel the old movies have due the limits of the time.
This video was funny, but I'm hoping it wasn't like a weird criticism towards George Lucas.
Claiming he takes the credit for everybody else's work, because he doesn't.
In any interview he's in, he's constantly name dropping everyone else who helped him.
