If my intuition is alright enough, the final line infers how part of the thought of him being in a timeloop was due to how much he just lets his life be repetitive.
This is one of my favorites. Now I want to cut together a version of groundhog day or edge of tomorrow where day one just repeats for 2 solid hours and trick people into watching it.

Most of them don't, but the studios only make movies about the ones that do. Mainly because it makes it easier for the audience to pick up on - it's basically a storytelling device. But yeah, none of the time loops I've ever been stuck in have had clear tells like that.

You're in a simulation already. Other people can differenciate days at least by doing some different things every day in free time.
