These guys, as well as Camo & Krooked, are truly at the top of the EDM scene right now, IMHO. Two pairs of artists just churning out banger after banger, really pushing the envelope in their respective sub-genres, consistently, unmatched and without fail. Koan Sound, especially, are really working some next-level magic when it comes to every single intricate detail with their sound production/textures/synths: they tickle cochlear hairs & nerves I didn't even know I had 🤯
I always listen to music with the analysts mind and when I hear something like this, where the craftmanship is top shelf, I just let go of that and immerse myself. This is something else. Very unique sound and composition. I really like how you keep the flow of instruments and changes so dynamic, but still maintaining the core intact. Very well done!

I know Im probably gonna get a lot of hate for this, but Ive gotta be honest. I havent really enjoyed most of what has come out related to the new LP. Maybe Im missing something about it, and if so I hope people will point it out. But a lot of it has just sounded melodramatic to the point of being pompous, especially the piano and violin. And just overall its been much more straightforward composition imo than Polychrome. It comes across as almost more of big budget movie soundtrack more than anything. Im not trying to put anyone down who enjoys it. But I just dont understand why I dont like it. Ive followed pretty much everything they have done since Funk Blaster came out, and every time it has felt like a step forward. Polychrome imo is a masterpiece that transcends genres. But this feels like a step back for me. Soundscapes they already explored 10 or more years ago. Sorry. :(
I think this LP is their best work to date. You should definitely give it a full listen in one go when you have the time to do it. If you weren't aware this Album is accompanied by a Novel (each track of the LP is a chapter of this story). That's why it feels cinematic at point and If you still don't like it maybe it's just not for you i guess, they have such a vast discography though :)

Plus, koan to me are definitely the masters of hard hitting snares... they hit the hardest right around ~200 hz and that is the key.
