Been using a nested scene with all my overlays in it but I would have to add to every scene and I couldn't exclude specific overlays from scenes or change global filters THIS IS PERFECT please keep making these cover tutorials
Great vid as always. Being able to apply global filters looks really clean, loads of potential. Looking forward to the plugin hall of fame vid coming next week too.
This is the only tutorial on youtube that actually explains the program source. Thank you I've been trying to figure out how it make it work for weeks.
I'd love to see a video from you of what kind of setup you'd do if you had to start from scratch in 2024. I feel like this could be interesting to see from all the things you've shown over the years, what you'd keep and what you'd cut or what you've replaced with a new plugin like this one
Ya know, it's not often that i see a video that just makes me think "well this changes everything". Thanks Nutty! (also the gameboy vid was awesome, i'll go watch it again now)
This is a great plugin. I used to do this but put everything in a separate scene and just add that scene everywhere. Worked fine. All this saves me is adding a new scene source to ever scene but it's nice to not have to remember that anymore! And being able to have multiple DSKs for various stuff is really nifty.
DAMMIT Nutty, you made that Brilliant Ad segment incredibly entertaining! I watched the whole thing. Oh and the whole video, but the Ad was super funny!
Thanks for this video. While I dd see a video for the DSK plugin ages ago, I appreciate your video as it reframed it in a different way that made so much more sense to me. I'm not saying the other one was bad; this one just hit me a bit better as for use cases, notably a point to use "global filters". I was getting ready to set up a filter pack of some vintage video effects with a newly-released filter, but was wondering how to implement it. This video really helped seal that deal. Thanks again! RUclipsrs like you and countless others I could name who do a lot of streaming-related material in general and OBS-related material in particular are treasures!
This video is EXACTLY what I was looking for for my channel points. I was using some janky solution with source mirrors in order to apply filters globally, but I’m definitely going to check this plugin out now!
OMG, where have you been dude???????????????????? wtf??/ i been trying to figure this EXACT OBS feature thing out for months.... i am so subbed... it sucks i can only subscribe once...
Not even kidding, I’ve been trying to figure out a better was the have global sources for the last week! I have all these custom redeems copied onto every scene and it’s SUCH a pain when getting them all connected! Gonna install this plugin ASAP! I hope it will work well with Lumia!
@@djsusan00 yeah I just currently have a nested scene I put everywhere with the common stuff (overlays to show etc) so this will make this exact case easier!
@@zDamascus is DSK really most effective and cpu-friendly than add a nested scene inside a main scene? i have this exact same situation and kinda lazy to do the testing myself
Great question! I'll make a short about this. TL;DR just right click any source/scene you want and make a windowed of fullscreen projection. That projection will stick even between transitions.
Is there a reason why you dont use just one Move Value filter with the blur and set tge Next Move setting to Reverse?? I feel like its a bit more effecient but would like to know why you chose that method? Great video btw!
how do i get my downkstream keyer vertical and horizontal . I was trying to get them to sync and show my image or media on the veritcal and horizontal at the same time ??? Any advise would help me ..
This was great as I am too lazy to add a flyer to all my scenes. Since you have to control the on and off from the global scene it might not get a lot of use.
Is there a way to make global sources move to different spots when switching scenes? Say that I have my chatbox as a global source on the left side of the screen. Would it be possible to make it move to the right side of the screen when changing scenes?
Who wants nutty nutty to do a OBS tour or streaming setup tour? If you want him to do that, reply to this comment or like it! Not trying to get likes only trying to get votes
So I know I'm a naive noob when it comes to OBS plugins and things, but I'm confused as to how this is much different than Nested Scenes. I kinda get it from the Filters angle, but it's just not clicking in my brain when I think about alerts and other things that someone might want on all their scenes... 🤔
If you just want to put sources on every scene, it's more or less the same. But yeah, if you want global filters, this is pretty much the only way you'll get them.
@@nuttylmaoGotcha gotcha... Your videos are always so full of information and lay out a lot of possibilities, my brain is just too simple to think of anything cool on my own. 😆 So my lack of creativity gets me all confused on things like this! 🙃
I understand there are some things DSK does that nested scenes doesn't, but is there anything nested scenes does that this doesn't? In other words, can we stop doing nested scenes entirely now?
Not true. You cannot create global filters with nested scenes, and transitioning between DSK's would be much more of a headache with nested scenes. They have their place, but they do not replace Downstream Keyer.
Similar but nested scenes do not allow you to add global filters. They also make it different to do transitions if you are switching between "global scenes". It sounds like a weird use case, but they use it for lower thirds all the time in the broadcast industry.
I knew there had to be some sort of a Global scene plugin somewhere especially by the talented Exceldro. And now I know why I didn't find it. The plugin name is weird tbh
Maybe, this would be cool to use the instant replay with replay buffer on that one. But you can add filters to scenes as well. And one scary thing is that if tomorrow obs does a change that breaks this plugin and the god exeldro is not updating it anymore its a messy situation to revert back. @@nuttylmao Ill have to have a look on whats the difference on managing the nested scenes. The only thing i saw is that it affects on top of the transitions. If anyone looks for that its great, but im not looking for that. The way im doing to add for eg the blur on everything : create a master nested scene with all the objects inside it, also those objects have also nested scenes on it: For eg nested scene for alerts/animations Nested scene for a camera, to reuse it several times. etc. I think all the effects there are prety much covered except the blur afecting the transition. The output source seems a great source tho. but the other deck stuff, i dont know. But keep this videos coming! love them, its my way to keep myself up to date on this stuff!
....I forgot about the ability to do the [DSK 2] 2nd global thing... This will ease my Stream Deck programming LUL @nuttylmao Do you find that exiting folders or moving from one page to another on your stream deck delays the next stream deck input? I have 5 and have plenty of power and everything programmed correctly - and yet just entering a popup folder (DSK!) hitting the button, and then exiting out, that the next input on that same Stream Deck will take 5+ seconds to register... Elgato sucks - and also, I'll be right back, I gotta get my Teleprompter they just dropped at the door.
Not right now but I did encounter that a long, long time ago. I believe switching USB ports around made it work suddenly. I would guess it's a bandwidth thing.
Nah, you can clone an entire scene and save it as one source already. Nested scenes have been around and this seems more complicated than just nesting scenes.
Yes, but depending on the kind of effect you're trying to achieve, that might be what you want. e.g. If you are applying a filter that you want on the entire screen, you probably want it to apply to transitions too. You can use nested scenes if you want your "global sources" to appear *under* your transitions.

Man! I can't believe you are just now discovering this plugin! But I did learn a couple more things about it from your video here.
I've been using DSK pretty much since Exeldro first published it and I just learned several features I didn't even know it had. Very useful video!
There's even more features that I didn't have time to get to in the video haha but this should be the most important stuff.
