  • Just a quick video, talking about three band both Jason and I should like, I assume.
    Oh, and I forgot to mention that all those early Black Dog records were done with a TR-808, one I almost bought fron the band some 7 years ago, the one that he showed an emulation in his contest video. I still kick myself for being a little cheap on that one : it was 2K quids, but still a bargain when you see what it is now worth, not considering the history of that specific one! Sigh...
    Anyways, here is Jason's contest, cool dude, with labels and a record shop, and some great records, despite all that metal... ;-)

    Thanks for sharing! I will have to look into The Black Dog album. Sounds good and the Middle Eastern sounds are my kind of thing. Cheers!

      Be prepared though, that this is "ambient techno" from the early 90ies, so it can be a little rough around the edges.

    It’s nice to revisit the early 90s with that Black Dog Bytes album. I still listen to a lot of stuff from that era of Warp ( Electro-Soma, Incunabula, etc) You often speak of the LFO record as the platonic ideal of that particular sound, and I understand what you’re getting at. On an adjacent topic, I recently watched your Four Corners video on the history of electronic music, and have become totally obsessed with Bernard Parmegiani. What a genius! One tiny addendum: When you and 45rpm Audiophile were discussing contemporary innovators I’d probably put Aleksi Perälä’s name on that list. Anyways, I learn so much from your channel. It’s the best.

    • @StuntrockConfusion
      @StuntrockConfusion  3 года назад

      How nice Parmegiani has fallen on your right side! I will definitively talk more about him in the future. And Perälä indeed is worth discussing, even if of late, he's been IMHO exhausting his high concept.

    • @tomgriffiths9410
      @tomgriffiths9410 3 года назад

      @@StuntrockConfusion That’s for sure … I certainly don’t have the stamina to listen to all of Perälä’s releases properly. As for Parmegiani, I went ahead and bought his record on Discogs after listening to Pour En Finir Avec Le Pouvoir D'Orphée online.

    I’m too old for Napalm Death these days, but I can stand behind Loop and early Godflesh. Nice entry! Cheers

      Yes, 100% with you on Napalm Death. this was a present, so I don't part with it, but, tbh, anything straight up trash, metal etc, I have very little tolerance for it. Still looking for the exceptions ^^

      @@StuntrockConfusion the exceptions are out there. You’re just not ready, maybe it just won’t work for you. You won’t find it in the 90s metal anyway. It’s more about a feeling than a sound. But the sound get you the feeling. It’s about freedom, it’s about Bo Diddley and it’s about Louie Louie. Have a great evening!!

    Terrific description of Klinik. One of my favorites, especially the early work. The first album by Insekt (featuring EVW of Klinik) is worth investigating - it’s probably located somewhere in the shelves behind you!

    Hey Stunty! We should do a show sometime on our electronic records. Thanks for jumping on my contest! Loving these picks. That Klinik triple pack pick sounded great in the background. I know Noise Unit I have a single by them.

      Sure, let's do that, should be fun, the spectrum is so vast, bu twe should figure it out. I did a video with Mazzy and the Michaels about electronic music in March, but we focused more on defining, and older pioneer stuff, even if it bled a little on dance, ambient, industrial, etc. If you get a chance to watch it, I would be interested in your thoughts ^^ And again, congrats for reaching your goal so quickly!

    I love early Napalm Death. I actually don't have any Godflesh but need to get some. That sounded almost like early Swans in the background but with electronic drums. Maybe Gira should've had a Roland on drums. I have some of JK Flesh's recent Techno on LIES label. I don't have any Black Dog either. Sounds familiar from the 90s. Sounds a bit like Bandulu who were one of the first electronic bands I saw live at a rave in mid 90s

    Bonjour, vous avez bon goût, il n'est pas courant de trouver quelqu'un comme vous s'orientant vers Dirk Ivens & Marc Verhaegen et autres curiosités sérieusement analysées dans les méandres de youtube :) THE KLINK le duo s'est reformé pour une performance festive unique au BIM Festival en Belgique en 2003, un souvenir inoubliable. A propos de Noise Unit est né d'une collaboration entre Bill Leeb et Marc Verhaeghen de Klinik. Ensemble, ils ont produit les deux premiers albums. Le troisième album a redonné vie au projet, Rhys Fulber prenant naturellement le relais de Marc. Rhys Fulber en 1986 se lie d'amitié avec Bill Leeb, qui venait de quitter son ancien groupe Skinny Puppy en 1985 sous le pseudonyme Wilhelm Schroeder. Vos vidéos sont pertinentes.

      J'ai vu Klinik en live il y a plus de 25 ans, une reformation pour une tournée, un peu trop en mode fan à mon goût. Mais c'était pas mal, juste un peu trop orienté le côté dur de Klinik, alors que je préfère les morceaux plus nocturnes. L'albun Concrete Jungle et le single Broken meat de Dive me sont également chers. En espérant que vous soyez aussi receptif aux autres musiques que j'aborde!
