Cortosis armor and weapons disabling lightsabers has been canon since the 90's. Cad Bane uses Cortosis slugs to disable lightsabers in Clone Wars. (edit because I committed the sin of not checking wookieepedia first)
Nothing has been canon since the 80's besides the OT. Any and ALL material that isn't OT or PT or their novelizations is Legends. Cortosis' first CANON appearance since the Disney takeover was in 2014.

This episode was pretty awesome but skyman you seemed to have made your mind up not to enjoy it :( It even had Jedi Shish Kebab. Also complaining about the trees but we forget the immortal handrail on the DeathStar 2
agreed at this point he just seems to be disliking it cause he dislikes it and nitpicking. i literally had no dog in this fight. if anything i went in expecting junk and have a very anti disney feeling. hated obiwan, hated parts of ahsoka, hated the sequels. master Sol carried it for me. episode 1-2 were decent. episode 3 was really really bad. episode 4 nothing happened. but this was actually decent (except the bad dialogue and delivery from the sith) and the choreography was really good.
@@mikemcmike6427 Choreography was bad. Eight fully trained jedi versus one no name, and seven out of the eight are destroyed. Terrible set up for a fight.
@@literarystorm6412 it literally wasn’t. I each person had a unique fighting style and it looked good. Okay and? In the prequels you had multiple jedis including masters just stand there while Palpatine mowed them down. You disliking he’s OP doesn’t make the choreography bad. If they have a decent explanation I’ll accept it
@@literarystorm6412 I’m not? Believe me I’m the biggest Disney critic: hated the sequels, hated obiwan, hated solo. I don’t judge a company on their morality if I do I wouldn’t be able to buy any food from any big corporation or watch any tv or movies: I’m just calling a spade a spade: master Sol carried this entire show. Episode 3 and 4 were horrendous and 5 was actually surprisingly good
people who say this guy cant be sith must not know Star Wars or sith lore very well. the sith have been in hiding for a thousand years, not extinct, which was made explicitly clear in the phantom menace. and then qimir even says that now that hes been exposed, everyone whos seen him has to die. this makes complete sense.
I agree. Qimir did a pretty good job killing off all the key witnesses. Now Sol is going to go back to the Jedi with a disguised Mae who will probably cause more problems for Sol and he and/or Mae will get blamed for what happened because he left the planet without recovering the bodies of the other Jedi. The council will probably ask why he left the planet in a hurry if the Sith was defeated or why he abandoned the planet to the Sith threat. Then they'll accuse him of killing the other Jedi because they only started dying when he brought Osha along with him. Then Mae disguised as Osha does something stupid and proves the council's point.
Yea I really have no issues with there being a Sith because they're hiding and also the show isn't over. If he kills everyone like he said he will then the problem is solved lol. I do wish they made the show around Sol learning about Qimir and hunting him down without OSHA and Mae being the leads. I just feel like their story is boring but Everytime I see Sol I want more.
I get the feeling that Qimir isn't actually Sith. He doesn't seem to have the power or knowledge of the force to come close to being actual Sith. Now that's from the very little we know about him so.. I'd argue he's an "acolyte" to a larger and better known Sith of the time, Plagueis. I just don't think that Qimir is the real big bad here pulling all the strings. This is all just a plot to confuse the Jedi about the real Sith return coming. The Jedi will just cover this situation up to save face in the galaxy and inch closer to their demise. Just my opinion.
This doesn't make complete sense. Ki Adi Mundi knows there is an apprentice being trained by a master who is going around killing Jedi. That has Sith written all over it. And we ALL know he isn't gonna die.
@@francissellerdudetrue but the problem is the “just swinging like crazy” complaint is so off and hypocritical since that is what mindless prequel haters say about the prequels this episode deserves its props as the best choreography in disney starwars so far and some of the best choreography in general for starwars
hating every aspect of this show, refusing to acknowledge (even if it's admittedly few) the things it does right is wild for a prequel fan. those who grew up in the prequel era should be the most open to new concepts as they watched the older generations shit on the prequels/the thing they liked. to see that cycle of blind hate and dismissal continue is so depressing. the writing on this show has been awful but to nitpick and hyper analyze/scrutinize everything else because of the writing is so shitty. so many "fans" have lost their way.

@@cookiefantasybauer2143 Okay I don't want to defend Disney but let's not pretend like the previous light saber stabs have been anywhere near as fatal as in that scene lol
As a die hard Star wars fan, I actually think the fights in this show have been more weighted and realistic than most of the prequel fights. Let’s put our nostalgic biases aside…the prequel duels are visually amazing, but they look so much like choreographed dances. I mean countless times in the fights people are not aiming to kill each other, it’s like they’re just doing flashy moves for the sake of being flashy. I think the duels here have been so much more weighted than the prequels, which are very twirly and flippy for the sake of being flashy. Still great fights, but even in the best fights like Anakin and Obi Wan, there’s moves that are absolutely ridiculously unrealistic. In this episode of the Acolyte, there was an intensity that it was constantly life or death and the moves were very well choreographed while keeping it grounded.
I’ve noticed that to. People praise duel of the fates like a masterwork of choreography, but there are so many instances of stuff that makes zero sense. It’s still a great fight tho.
Absolutely 100%! In the OT, Luke x Vader (both duels) were more about the internalization of the characters. It wasn't meant to be flashy and shit. In the prequels, the story was subbed to have better choreographed duels. Obi Wan x Qui Gon vs Maul...there's no emotion there. 0 words are said the whole fight. Compare that to Vader baiting Luke in ROTJ. "Twin sista! And forcing him to snap. That's what it's about. I think Acolyte did a great job combining both elements of story telling while having an entertaining duel.
Well, since so many people keep pointing out that Ki-Adi Mundis age aint canon, ... Dooku flying aint canon either, cause it came from the 2D animated Clone Wars, wich already wasnt canon pre Disney, lol!
@@NinjaChris77 I would like to point out Vader glides in both Star Wars Battlefront 2 OG and the EA game as his jump. Its been around awhile never seen a issue with it.
Force users gliding has been a thing In the clone wars animated show, in old games, in the newest games. Why are star wars "fans" complaining about it now? We're talking about a show with space monks with powers, come the fuck on
@@BighossssThis whole show is negative. Actually, Disney is entirely negative..over a decade they still aren't close to making a profit on this trash.
I actually did like that they spent more time on combat instead of weird chants and bad dialogue and acting. But I really wish they did not kill of Jecki. Killing off a wookie jedi off screen will never be forgivable.
Jecki's death was necessary... A sith doesnt spare. As palpatine said "There is NO mercy...". She was a good character, but she had to go to hammer the point of what a sith acts like.
According to hardcore prequel fans only Nick Gillard from the prequels can do lightsaber fights. It's bullcrap and I'm glad prequel fans don't run Star Wars or else we wouldn't get what probably is one of the best fights in all of Star Wars even if the show is bad.
@@CometStar100 Nah, there is definitely an aspect of this entire fight that makes it fall on it's face almost immediately. I could care less how these fights look compared to prequel or original trilogy fights. The Sith leaves so many openings for retaliation that it's amazing that he survived 1v8 (10?) There were some cool aspects like mixing the Force with lightsaber combat, but overall the choreography was clumsy. That being said, I always appreciate them introducing different sword fighting styles into Lightsaber combat and I definitely liked the hidden dagger aspect.
I've never seen a more forced "hate" in my life. You complaining about the "impact" of the sabers or the movement of the choreography, when its some of the best lightsaber fighting we've had since the prequels. It's just sad that you can't even enjoy the good, fun moments this episode offers.
If you want to see good duels, just type “lightsaber duel” on RUclips. The goal of a series is to bring interest and depth to the fights. A good lightsaber duel without a good story isn't worth much. In any case, it's difficult to be satisfied with a good point with so much mediocrity next to it.

@ratiwatwatthanaphuti5158 The story was fine. The dialogue was mid, but definitely not inflated with inconsistencies, monotonous dribble, or contradictions. Additionally, it didn't destroy canon narrative.
I hated the first 4 episodes but this one was actually pretty great in my opinion. Qimer as the sith, yes thats disappointing BUT he also probably has the best portrayel of a Sith we have seen in live action, that dude showed no remorse and savagely killed those Jedi, this is the brutality we should expect from a Sith. Looking forward to seeing where his story goes. I also respect that they had the balls to kill Yord and Sols padawan here, i honestly expected the side jedi go be the only ones to die.
He doesnt have the eyes, and since they added cortosis to the show i know theres a reason, maybe he isnt full of hatred, maybe he is jjst a psycopath or... a Knight of Ren. He isnt exactly a sith
In the first episode Mae says to Trinity that a jedi only takes out their lightsaber if prepared to kill so I laughed alot this episode everytime Yord used his as a flashlight lol.
Hey man it saves space on your utility belt although it seems very dangerous. Touch someone with your "flashlight" and someone could lose a limb. Although apparently in Disney Star Wars lightsabers no longer dismember limb they just leave scratches
You know the greatest thing about that? Did Obi-wan kill anyone in the Mos Eisley Cantina? Literally the first time we actually see a Lightsaber in combat. Didn't think so.
as someone who only watched this episode and wasn't soured by the first 4, the fights in this episode were extremely good. Definitely the best in disney star wars and even better then some of the movie fights imo
I’m sighing and rolling my eyes at his sighing and eye rolls. Shame he’s not enjoying the show, or perhaps he’s just trying too hard to hate it (for the clicks!). The fight scenes, cinematography and dialogue in this episode were outstanding. Better time is spent watching Reel Rejects, Kyle Katarn, Blind Wave and Louise Julie for thoughtful and enthusiastic reactions to the show.
The 2 sisters are hole plot every time on screen, nothing makes sense around them. Sol and Qimir saved the episode but it's hardly crafted to be honest. Reminds me starfield story telling.

This reaction to the episode is the polar opposite of that where his criticism is so insincere. The OTT disdain, moaning, huffing and eye rolls throughout the episode (which was actually fantastic) is just so disingenuous. The prequels were absolutely panned when they came out but the kids who they were made for love those movies. The exact same thing is happening again. ironically enough some of these kids have become the haters that the original trilogy guys were. Im 100% sure that if this exact same episode came out but they said that George Lucas directed it and that Nick did the choreography that this guy would be singing it praises. At this point it's like watching a man-child throwing a tantrum. Also I don't understand how he can be disappointed by The Sith thing when we don't know how the story ends yet! Also when he talks about if this is meant to inspire people, does this man realize that this is just a moment of the story. Characters have to go through tribulations first...
Why is everyone upset about Sith existing. The Sith never went away, they went into hiding. The whole point of EP1 was the Jedi were morons for believing the Sith were gone. Sol needs to die and his secret is safe. No one is going to believe the witch sisters or Basil.
@@georgemoreira5198 No, Jedi were wrong, that was the revelation at the end of EP1. Darth Bane killed all the other Sith, made the Rule of Two and the Sith continued to exist in secret. I usually like what you have to say Skyman, and I may not always agree, but I think you're justification is typically there. This video though, you seem to be unreasonably nitpicky about things throughout the episode. There's plenty issues in this series but this episode, in my opinion, had more to celebrate than to critique. I hope you're not falling into the trap of "negativity sells".
Why is this creator looking for "logic" in a science "fiction?" Some of the "criticisms" he pointed out are just extreme nitpicking that even I am scratching my head about.
OK... blah blah blah... you just WANT to dislike these shows now. This episode and the fights are REALLY good... maybe have an open mind? I used to love this channel since you clearly LOVE Star Wars.... however... being mad/disappointed that they are not making exactly the story you wanted them to is not a fair way to critique. To be fair.... there are some cringe moments on this show... but overall it has been interesting and from what I can tell so far... they are looking to take the Legends material and weave it into the universe. To that point the helmet/bracer are made called Cortosis-weave armor (a Legends concept)... made from a mineral that can block, short out lightsabers and protect the wearer from mind trick/probes... etc. The sabers are not being cut in half (except the wookies at one point). I think that fans that believe "canon" is only some unknown immovable thing will ALWAYS be disappointed. I am intrigued to see where the show is heading... and what new layers to the lore and canon they are working to introduce. Give it a chance!
There is really no pleasing you is it? Unsurprising tbh with how much ignorance of star wars lore you’d demonstrated in the video. Just say ur casual and go to bed

12 minutes into his reaction and I'm just tired cuz you can tell he's so disinterested and pointing out things that aren't even relevant (like there should be fire on those cut trees instead of space) so I don't even know why he still keeps watching when he knows he's not gonna like it regardless of the outcome. 😩
Dont do reactions when you are determined to hate it from very beginning. There are alot of problems with Disney SW, but you "true" fans are now just determined to hate it no matter what. Rooling eyes on things you dont know like Cortosis shows really knowledge about lore and appreciation that makers wanna bring some Legends stuff to Canon. Now 1) Saying Fight is flat cos you have no emotional connection to characters is dump. Its your personal feeling and it does not affect choreo and fight composition itself 2) New show, new development.. If they spend more time to develop characters ppl will cry where is combat. When we recieve combat ppl cry where is character development 3) Funny to hate here things but actually same things in Prequles you love. Smilo here disseparing is shit, but Vader in EP5 againts Luke when he Dissapeared thats ok. 4)I do Love prequels but Phantom Menace Fight if you are objective had so many opening and empty spots aswell, so why you hate it here? 5) He said " People like you might call me Sith" He didnt say He is Sith.. He said that any other force user but a Jedi is a Sith to them. So whats your problem. 6) Mae killed Indara cos of trickery, she didnt beat her in fight. Lol... so Now a Jecki cant stand chance againts some non jedi assasin? 7) If you are a Jedi you can sense its not Mae. Dude, chill off. We have next episode. Plus He just lost all of his companions, ruthlessly killed. He almost felt to Dark side, he is out of Balance and you say - saying " he is a Jedi" he should know. 8) Yes, Kylo Ren theme... so maybe he will be just knight of Ren? 9)They said from what movies they took inspiration for t his episode. It was also horror movie. have no problem with it. 10) Saying its just swinging - Dude I respect Nick Gallard, but these guys who did this Fight know whet they are doing also. ANd Prequels Fight 1-3 Episodes where just the flashy fights. Cool, awesome, but only flashy. THis Fight in Acolyte were closer to any "real" fight than any of Prequels. Seems like y'all are 12 years old and grew up watching Disney star wars rather than real star wars. Like what kind of dumb argument is this? LMAO
People are hating on Lucasfilm under Disney but they are still Lucasfilm, the same entity which operated under George Lucas with literally the same employees, most of which stayed on after the Disney acquisition. Almost all creative decisions are made internally with only financials and other standard operating stuff really reported onto Disney via annual reports etc. And despite what some may try to convince you, they have given us some gems in the post George era - Rogue One, Mandalorian, Clone Wars S7 and many would include Andor. And just like Lucasfilm under GL gave us some all time duds in TPM & AOTC, they have given us some under Disney as well. Fans, well mainly those who grew up in the prequel era, like to act like the entire George Lucas era of Star Wars was filled with masterpiece after masterpiece, that he didn't put a foot wrong, they've literally tried to rewrite history because they likely were not even born to witness the enormous backlash he got after the first two prequels as well as the special edition changes he made to the OT. That was at least on a par with the backlash some of the current era movies/series are getting. It's just the nature of the business. Not a single long running franchise in movie/TV history has given us nothing but great products. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Look at franchises like the Terminator where the first two were great and all the rest have been poorly received, the Alien franchise is exactly the same, first two great, everything else rubbish, same with Predator. Hell, even the Godfather trilogy ended with a dud after the first two movies were two of the greatest ever made in the history of cinema. Literally no franchise is immune because it's SO DAMN HARD to keep that level of quality and to keep fans happy. In fact, it's impossible. But that is more of a reflection of people in general, we expect too much, we nitpick every little thing, we're hypercritical. It's so much better to go into a movie/series and try your best to find _good things_ to say about it rather than to try your hardest to find bad things to say, which people like Skyman, Star Wars Theory etc do. They just nitpick everything, even if what they are saying could easily be applied to the prequels. They are not only haters but hypocrites too.
Damn I wish I could take my view back, I didn't know you were gonna just hate watch this. Very forced complaints, and ignorance of what is going on just so you can hate on it smh
It's clear that you've joined the trend of nitpicking about everything. If Lucas made an identical episode, he would scream with joy. It's a pity because I liked watching you.
I don’t get how you can blame him for disliking the episode and his takes on the show. He’s completely right about it not having the energy and feel of what Star Wars used to have, sure he may be nitpicking about certain things but why shouldn’t he? It’s obvious the show runners don’t know Star Wars or care about it and are purposely throwing the fans under the bus. So why should he defend it? It’s an objectively bad series which fails at every part of creating a compelling story and Is filled with lore breaking parts. If anything he’s going easy on it with criticism.

I'm actually glad they went with Qimir as the Sith even if it was so obvious, even he joked to Mae about how obvious it was. I was so worried they were going to reveal one of the twins mother's as the Sith. Especially when Osha told Yord her mother had those abilities.
Sorry man, but it just seems like you came in with the thought you were gonna hate it and just continued without valid reason. First you say that there's no weight and it doesn't feel earned. After how incredible Jecki performed you just shrug it off saying that the show is trying to hard. I'm just so disappointed in you. You never gave it a chance, you wanted to hate just to hate. Go watch the things you like, instead of hating on other things.
I hate it when people still get angry at a show while an episode is actually freaking good just because the show gets a lot of hate because it wasn’t that good but when it is they still go that same route because it gets views I guess but still. It was cool.

people who say this guy cant be sith must not know Star Wars or sith lore very well. the sith have been in hiding for a thousand years, not extinct, which was made explicitly clear in the phantom menace. and then qimir even says that now that hes been exposed, everyone whos seen him has to die. this makes complete sense.
@@BamaHoopsBoi I think he’s Sith, but simply the Sith apprentice. I think there’s a Sith master (possibly tenebrous) that we haven’t seen yet

I'm happy you enjoyed it.
I felt nothing in this episode but apathy. This show is the nail in the coffin for Disney SW for me. I unsubscribed from D+.

OK... blah blah blah... you just WANT to dislike these shows now. There was a time I enjoyed your videos as a reactioner and be moved by your reaction. I'm gonna stop following you cause I also feel unbearable negativity from your videos. Goodbye and hope you enjoy something else.
12 minutes into his reaction and I'm just tired cuz you can tell he's so disinterested and pointing out things that aren't even relevant (like there should be fire on those cut trees instead of space) so I don't even know why he still keeps watching when he knows he's not gonna like it regardless of the outcome. 😩
Because thats how reaction channels work.
@@takura187this wasn’t a reaction, your reaction becomes disingenuous when you try this hard to hate on every second of the episode
Now
1) Saying Fight is flat cos you have no emotional connection to characters is dump. Its your personal feeling and it does not affect choreo and fight composition itself
2) New show, new development.. If they spend more time to develop characters ppl will cry where is combat. When we recieve combat ppl cry where is character development
3) Funny to hate here things but actually same things in Prequles you love.
Why the heck you have to hate everything?
Cos Starwars Fandom is indeed just one by butthurt crybaby.
At the beginning, we were right. Now fans lost it. Now is trendy to hate everything. And thats why Sw is doomed. You will brag about everything. Even the good things
I actually did enjoy how they weren’t afraid to kill the main characters off, and not make them camera immortal like Rey, been a while since we have seen some darker deaths
You should just stop your reaction to this show. I enjoy your channel, but all the negativity doesn't make for good content.
Disappointing reaction/review tbh. You don’t have to love or even like the show and it’s obviously not perfect. However this was by far the best episode yet, but you complained about every little detail. The choreography was also some of the best we’ve seen in live action star wars in a while. At this point you are hating just to hate. No fair criticisms at all.
“Fly-lo Ren’s flew off” 😂😂 I love your videos
This was depressing to watch, man. This episode was some of the best Star Wars content we've had, period, and you seem like you were determined to hate it no matter what. You're complaining about things that have been established for decades
Well not best starwars content “period” because that implies its better than the original saga eps 1-6 but yeah hes trippin it was the best jedi vs sith in disney starwars and i loved the episode and didnt even like most of the show
He wears rose colored glasses when it comes to the prequels.
I change what i said i rewatched the whole show and skipped episode 3 i love the show it could be better at some parts and the pacing is awful but its dope
This show is setting up Osha to kill Sol the last person that can reveal the Sith. Two witch sisters that have killed Jedi, no one would believe them about the Sith.
Interesting you believe he is Sith, he never said he was, just “Jedi would call me Sith” Take note of the beginning of kylos theme…the murder mystery begins origins I believe
@@TheMasterJedi Whether he is sith or not doesn't really matter, he could be similar to a nightbrother and controlled by Koril. Either way, Sol needs to die to keep everything secret.

First of all, stop acting like the prequel fights were that great because trust they do not hold up under scrutiny.
Yup. Prequel fights are the opposite of this, all emotion and very basic choreo, whereas this choreo is much better, but nowhere near the emotion because there's not been the time spent to feel for characters.
He's made up his mind though and just wants to pout his way through the show. He's basically become like the OG fans who shat on the prequels because they weren't real Star Wars. It's sad to see.
Nah the prequel fights were amazing this only beats a couple of them but that being said this was an amazing fight and goes into my top 6 duels ever
Exactly, a part from Duel of the Fates and the Mustafar duel there are so many fights in the prequels that are extremely goofy and poorly choreographed.
@@dxjjw wouldnt say they are goofy but i would say they werent great compared to those two, but atleast give credit to obi wan and ani vs dooku in revenge of the sith, although, my 2nd favorite jedi is mace windu i loved his fight with palps but it was way too short, not that great and the other 3 jedi dying was actually terrible writing regardless of it being a force scream blah blah blah
Y'all get angry when people don't like the acolyte and then you reason that the acolyte is good because the George Lucas star wars movies aren't even that great. Like do y'all even like star wars?
Do you and the other hate-tubers ever get tired of hating everything?
Come on now Fred, it’s okay to crack a smile
I hope you can find some happiness in your life dude 😅
Damn I wish I could take my view back, I didn't know you were gonna just hate watch this. Very forced complaints, and ignorance of what is going on just so you can hate on it smh
It's clear that you've joined the trend of nitpicking about everything. If Lucas made an identical episode, he would scream with joy. It's a pity because I liked watching you.
Did he cry like that during his kenobi reactions aswell?
Torbin is the smartest character. He drank the poison to get the fuck out of this show
LOL!!!!
Factssssssss...
