This is exactly why i love him, he's so earnest but at the same time the boundaries he put is so distinct so people can still stay logical when idolising him. He's so real for that.
Again, I further understand why there are people who liken Ruze to Calli. Anyway, I feel Ruze's talk here as someone who recently further realized how pointless putting oneself down actually is and how different it is from being humble, which is what I really want to be this whole time, as difficult as it is to do. And while Ruze's style is not something I click with as much as, say, Axel's, moments like this one remind me that even so, he actually strives to make the mask that is his VTuber model and the accompanying lore and assets and such more than faddy formalities and predatory stepping stones. Truly, it is an honor to have Crimzon Ruze in hololive Production and VTubing.
I wish that more people had this kind of takeaway. There has been a very pervasive stigma against idols and their fans when vastly it's people on a journey of growth and positive feelings. It's something that Hololive in particular has had to fight a lot against, as you can really find no shortage of people trying to paint the talents as exploited, with shitty controlling fans, etc, when it's really just not the case.
I always come back to the Hologra episode "Help! We'll Be Fired!", where the takeaway is that each member has their own definition of what an idol is to them
I don’t blame ruze having this poison mentality on idol culture considering the stans and idol corps makes it toxic as hell from an outsiders or casual fan perspective
The only toxicity I find is from people "on the outside" patting each other on the back for calling out how bad idol culture is at every chance they get. Which includes bashing the "(fem/in)cel parasocial" fans, the "enabler predatory" talents and the "greasy exploitative" companies. On the inside, things are just how ruze and calli found out they were.
For someone who looks like a muscle-brained jock character, he has some very deep wisdom about life...

When you get down to it, an idol is someone you look up to and respect.
Amen!

Magni and Ves I'd argue already tried "breaking the status quo"
