How sad & tragic. All the family went through, reminds me of these hard times and what we're going through with the pandemic of the Covid. But, it also r ed mind me of a book I read thoroughly, Charles Dickens' The Bleek House. All of his books and writings describe what Great Britain, and the rest of the UK went through. That Ms. Lennox is able to trace her ancestry and find documents and evidence of their existence is fascinating. Luv it! Luv her!! m.t.lopez 💋💋👍🥰🙂😍🤩😁😇😊
Well noted. It is common for us to view, and judge, history through contemporary eyes and sensibilities, even to the meanings of words or the retroactive application of current norms. Most do it without being aware. Some are aware but decide, "They should have known." Myopic hindsight, one might say.
Just for Anne ... I would say that a pauper doesn't necessarily have to be poor, however most papers would primarily not have a lot money. Probably the old English term of " deserving poor ' fits best. And probably the lightest definition for pauper would be ' Unfortunate ' . Or ' Incapability ' ...
You really shouldn't handle old documents or lean over them too closely, the ink tends to fade even faster. Aside from that, all these aspects are pretty much general knowledge if one has read any literature.
"general knowledge"...finding out about ancestors you are directly related to is not simply "general knowledge"...also you sound like Mrs Cruickshank, maybe she's direct ancestor of yours !!! she sounded like an old bat too
Ironically being related to the Frazers, Greigs, and specifically the Cruickshank line; sadly it is very possible that she not a very good egg....I am aware she born a Rose and was a Cruickshank by marriage only, however viewing her own brother's lack of care and responsibility for his daughter and grandchildren is sad and shows the family disavowed any acknowledgement Mary Rose and her children. In my Cruickshank line, there were stark contrasts in lifestyles and being wealthy or crofters/pauper class even between brothers in the same family, sadly this was very much a grim reality in Scotland, especially Banff.
I would like to know what Annie have learned in last 20 years about EPIGENETICS, and what influence it has done / might have to her life, and hers daughters ?
Love Annie Lennox as a musician, also comes across as a nice person.
The Dangler A very talented musician!
I've always loved Eurythmics, but I hadn't known anything about Annie for a couple of decades. She remained a beautiful lady.
You should check out her solo albums. Stunning talent.
Annie is a musical pioneer and a role model for women.
Crookshank is absolutely an Dickensian name. "You will be sent to Goody Crookshank until she has no further use for you."
Annie is such a kind person.

Jade12568 it’s not much but it gets us a wee bit further along.
Mrs. Crookshank didn’t write that , for all we know she may have kept her and raised her as her own.
I was just about to say that. She might have been a lovely woman. They have offered her the option, but it doesn't say she took advantage of it.

I see no implication the woman is 'mean" or cruel.
@Pelican1984 “Working a 10 y.o. until she has no use for her” sounds kind-hearted to you??
@@nylorij-Lori We have no idea what the child was doing, what the arrangements were. You are inventing a story that is not supported by the facts.
