I have the Epson Surecolor F170 sublimation printer which also has an ecotank....I have had it for almost 8 months now. I love it...does a great job, has support and a warranty unlike a converted Epson Ecotank.
I don't know it this goes for the F170, I didn't know about the additional warranty until I bought the F570. I have the option within the first year to buy the additional yr warranty, I just have to do it before the first year is up. Like I said I don't know if it is the same for the F170, my dealer didn't tell me when I bought it. I like having that extra time to get it. I will buy the additional warranty before it expires. Love my F170 and now my F570. Having a great printer and the warranty was a no brainer when I was trying to figure what to buy. And the ink is so much cheaper than the competitors are.
I hate when people keep saying it is better than converting a regular epson. If you buy a new epson all you have to do is install normally just put sublimation ink in instead of the regular ink. We need a lower price point for wide printing., not just for sublimation but also for just regular printing. You do get a warranty with buying this one unlike converting a regular epson.
Although this isnt wide format per say it does print up to 14" and you can slice the image in canva and make an image 17x14 basically. I would love to know what projects are considered textile versus rigid.
@@kimdavis2123 when I do the long length its because I put multiple designs on it. Or when I was making garden flags. I spit the design down the middle and printed it 1.2 at a time and then put them together and pressed. It's better than splitting them in 4ths to get them long enough.
It comes with the ink and it works great. It also last a long time. The print heads are made for sublimation ink so you'll get better performance from it. I've had mine for about 2 yrs and no issues. Even when I leave it sitting for months. I also don't have to worry about color profiles. Just about all printers will void warranty if you use the wrong ink. Some will start putting lines through your design if you change to a different ink that what it is supposed to take.
I have the F-170 but could never figure out how to change the color profiles. Any help would be appreciated! Also you said that you have to install the printer drive on your phone to be able to print from it? Thanks!!!
you don't have to install them on your phone, install them on your pc so you can send designs to your printer. I use the auto color profile and I get great results.
So if you had a choice to use the new epson that's already made for sublimation or to get a reg epson and convert it, which one would be better? I have the reg epson eco-tank but haven't converted it yet,but I didn't want to if this one is better? I'll just use the other printer as a reg printer and not a sublimation printer.. ?
@@kimnewsome6049 I did alot of research before I bought my F170 and it brings so much more to the table for sublimation that it was an easy choice. I've never doubted my choice. To the point that this year I went up and got the F570.
So, the question at the end should be : what is the best sublimation printer recommanded ? If that one isn’t your favorite, which one buy ? in A4 and in A3 ? #mgl please ?
I just got an Epson ecotank 2803 I'm new to sublimation well be doin projects with my granddaughter this weekend she wants make ornaments any one has any tips for me Thanks 😊
Tanner, have you tried to contact Epson and explained the "need" for a wide format"? As a business, they might be interested in hearing from you. I would also send them this video. You are promoting the product. Just a thought.
I have Epson Surecolor F170 and also I have Epson ET-15000 converted to sublimation printer. I don't know what is the difference between these 2 printers. Actually, I like Et-15000 better than F170 :)
I have this printer and I need help!!!!! Your videos are great video but I'm having issue, it's either operator error AKA ME or the printer lol I have this exact printer and I've only made a practice shirt and it didn't turn out how it should. The 2 Issues I'm having is printing bright colors and getting my images to print mirrored. I tried several different things to get the image print mirrored. In Design space I flipped it b4 cutting (didn't work), I checked mirror image b4 I hit print (didn't work), In the printer settings I selected mirror (didn't work). I put the image in powerpoint and mirrored it and that didn't work. In powerpoint I mirrored the image and exported the image from powerpoint as a .jpg and imported it back in DS and it actually printed mirror!!! I've been trying get it to print mirrored this whole time and nothing is working. Is anyone having having this problem? Why is this happen? Anyone that can help is much appreciated! Finally, I went and pressed it onto a shirt just to see if the colors brightened up. After pressing the image onto a shirt it wasn't very vibrant in color. What am I doing wrong? I'm so frustrated!!!
Don’t know if you got your answer or not since it’s been 4 months but this printer already mirrors your image so you don’t want to hit mirror in whatever program you’re using like Cricut design space. It should print mirrored already for you.
Hello recently purchased the f170 printer can anyone help me to change document size to half a4 size for mugs I tried to change the document size by selecting user defined and writing measurements but it doesn't seem to fit and appears cut off and too big when I print preview . Only printing at A4 works without any problems

I just got this printer and have already subbed several things! Thanks in part to MGL sublimation course!
What size does it print please?
@@srdesigneredition6407 8 1/2 x 14, it can actually print 8 1/2 x 47, but idk why you'd need that long!

One thing not mentioned is if you choose to use another ink in the printer other than epson ink it voids the warranty.
Can I use a different ink for the Epson f170? Like Hiipoo ink
I am shopping now. I am hoping to take advantage of these holiday sales
Are you able to use Sublimation paper roll to get a wider print? What would you recommend for set up?
Thanks, can you use Hippo ink or do you have to use Epson ink to prevent voiding the warranty?

Where to get the sublimation ink for the 15000? Info if you don't mind. Beginner.
This review is missing a sample print. That would have been a nice addition to tie it in a bow. Otherwise great Vid.
