a lot of haikyuu fans like to say "there are no villains, only rivals," since even the most 'antagonistic' characters are just high schoolers playing volleyball. can't wait to watch these!
also about the animation being different in openings 6 and 7, it's because the show changed directors between seasons 3 and 4 (and there was a FOUR YEAR HIATUS between those seasons)

Actually in shonen jump, Tanjiro, Deku, Emma from TPN and Hinata are actually called as the "Sunshine Squad" as they have the same bright personality and same drive to do what they wanted to do. If u love one of those characters, you'll love Hinata too.

Yes! YES!! YESSS!! Please watch Haikyuu! Personally, I don’t like volleyball but Haikyuu is an absolutely amazing, breathtaking anime that quickly became my favorite. The storyline, the characters, the animation, the OST, it’s all a absolutely amazing. I’d definitely recommend it.
I’ll 100% be diving into it more! Only 10 ep in and I’ve already cried LOL! Can’t wait for everyone to see the reactions

I can understand wanting to watch on separate channels but this is the series you need to watch with Colette. It's super hype and wholesome.
It’s a really fun series. When I started Haikyuu, I’d never seen a sports anime before, and knew absolutely nothing about volleyball! I honestly thought the same as you, “it’s just volleyball? How can they fill 4 seasons with just volleyball games?” But they manage to make volleyball epic. And they do a lot of work with the different characters, developing them. It’s now one of my favourite anime. 9.5/10!
Also, the visuals in the openings you watched were edited a bit to avoid copyright. So if you thought the visuals were a tad choppy, that’s why!

Haikyuu has everything you want from a great shounen anime, whithout needing any tropes you previously thought to be essential for shounen. The easiest way to describe Haikyuu is: exciting, uplifting and wholesome
Haikyu is really good and yes them hitting a ball in episodes and episodes is really worth watching
you gotta watch them to understand what this is about, i never thought i would like volleyball but this show just made me like it a lot, the animation is just really nice

Honestly Haikyu taught me about volleyball WAY MORE than our PE teachers. I had no idea something like positions (setter, for example) exists and I didn't know you are supposed to serve and not to throw the ball... I never understood our "volleyball" games..
10 out of 10. It´s very similar to MHA and has the same composer so the OST are amazing.
And just checked the Patreon and viola Haikyu episode 1 is there. So guessing the Openings hooked him,

For whatever reason, I assume to avoid copyright, the video you have for the openings has the scenes out of order. I found it very distracting, but I guess since you've never seen the show before it wouldn't have been something you would notice.
Either way, Haikyuu is pretty good. I have it from a 7-8/10, depending on the season, and it's a very good gateway into the world of sports anime. Done right, it can be even more hype than battle shounen like Demon Slayer or My Hero Academia or what have you.

More than anything, sports anime are about character and growth and haikyuu has a wealth of well-written, great characters. I have never been so invested in so many characters from SO MANY DIFFERENT TEAMS ever. They introduce you to a new team and you come out loving at least one of the members.
Sports animanga is my favorite genre because of the character development. And you would be surprised how interesting and exciting it is to watch high school boys hitting balls

The openings are edited and rearranged at most parts, so dont compare these visuals with the actual anime, its a lot better
And yeah there's really no bad guy here honestly. That doesn't happen in sports anime

The fact that you're analyzing the ops from a music standpoint is definitely something I rarely see reactors do, and I am so glad you did. I already loved op 5, but realizing details like that falsetto and the punchiness of the guitar just made me fall in love with the song even more. I can't wait to see more op reaction videos like this!
Don't worry about not knowing anything about volleyball because this anime will teach you about it. It is really great anime bruh. You won't notice that you're already shouting just because the ball is still on the air or alive lol.

I definitely prefer the music talk over theory talk when blind reacting to anime openings. Most of the time, they’re so completely wrong, but they’ll talk about it for like 20 minutes while ignoring the music and animation. So, I liked this video a lot!

Well, if you think about it, the only thing that really changes in a battle shounen is that the stakes are generally higher than in a sport one, but that depends on how much you care and when the main cast is good and the writing is done right you find yourself caring, A LOT,

haikyuu is probably top 5 for me in personal favorites. I didn't expect to become as much of a fan as i am. but i got the merch, i got the posters, i got the hoodies and the shirts. To me, this is the Friday Night Lights of anime. romanticizing every aspect about this sport. Bruh, I even bought a volleyball. You can ask plenty of reactors who caught the Haikyuu bug too, who would either state they never cared about sports before watching this, or didn't think they'd care as much in the beginning and then end up giving standing ovations after certain episodes. there's something beautiful about it that just makes you feel something special when watching it. Even the first opening monolog had me feeling emotional, I wasn't ready. You aren't going to be either.
Will you react to the OPs of MHA after season 5? That's because I never saw it (or you might be skipping it on purpose) in the episodes. You might be approaching it in a similar way with other anime reaction RUclipsrs.

imo, Hikari Are (op5) and the last two are my favorite. :) people like Tobe Fly but.. it's weird it's good IMO (there is one opening from MHA which gives me HUUGEE Tobe Fly vibes.. op 3 it is :D :)

i can only recommend this show, im not a sports anime fan, i dont even get why people whats realy sport in tv so why watch fake people do sports on tv xD but the matches are so intense they had me on the edge of my seat all the time and its so character driven. i fell in love instantly in ep1

As a ex volleyball player i was really skeptical going into this show but it is just incredible. Amazing characters, amazing animation and amazing on how it can really get u to like the sport.
I have a friend who didn't know anything about volleyball, we watched the show together and i didn't have to keep explaining things to her because the show does a great job in getting u to understand and like the sport.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!

oh you should definitely start haikyuu. Why? haikyuu is famous for not only the hype but the character development and the narrative, it's so well done, people that's not into sports anime at all have watched haikyuu and they have fallen in love with it. And it's natural, cuz you get to learn a lot of things not only about volleyball, but also life lessons, player's insights, team work, you get great imagery, and analogies, and explanations. You get AMAZING character growth, you get to love ALL the freaking characters, not only just from the main team you're gonna like everyone...eventually, you can't just focus on the main team while watching haikyuu bc even tho it is a sports anime and kind of a shonen anime as well, it is also a slice of life anime, and it's that part that keeps it grounded and realistic, so like in real life, there are not antagonist teams or enemy teams, there're are just teams, every team has its own backgroung story, it's own goals, ideals, struggles, perspectives. But in real life you don't see a main team, you just see teams playing against each other...so the series willl make you realize that through the narrative. Please don't start the series with the expectation that the other teams are gonna be enemies or the bad guys. that's a terrible mistake from many reactors.

Haikyu is in my top 3 of all animes i've watch, is just too good that you don't want it to end, also you will love all the characters, even if you dislike some at first(i think everyone knows who im talking about lol), so yeah, you must watch it, give it a try for a couple of episodes
The Season 3 opening (op 5) can literally give chills or goosebumps. It actually made me accidentally tear up.
I love the fact that you're the music nerd! I've noticed it earlier since you always pay attention to the music playing in the background of the scenes in MHA for example. Love your opening reaction, would definitely watch more!|
Also, the "Hikari are" opening with the high falsetto convinced me to watch the anime even though, I've never watched sports anime either.

As for my opinion on Haikyuu, man I'm such a big fan. My first sports anime was Prince of Tennis and this one is such a refreshing and realistic take on a sport. I didn't do any sport and I'm in my late 20s now, but here I am, loving the genuine growth and development of all of the volleyball teams showcased in the show. Def would recommend.
The story you tries to figure out at 4:11 [spoiler alert!!!] is that the orange haired boy (No. 10) saw the team in the tv, and when he is old enough, he joins this team. He is really fast, but isn't a good player yet. The black haired boy (No. 9) is a really good player, but no one can spike his sets because they are too fast for the others. Thoose two meet as rivals first, and promised that they will beat each other. Somehow they both ended up in the same team. AAAAND.... The orange boy could spike the black boy's fast spike so they became an unstoppable duo. And they are the main characters obviously.
And if you watch them more close, you can see that their hair is matching with their jersey (orange-black) ;)
is anime incapable of creating stories that have no love interest, where ALL of the female characters serve the narrative and are responsible for teaching and learning the lessons the feature presents?
cz that's so pathetically sad. trying to arbitrarily find a "love interest" or "hot chicks" in a sports anime is so wasteful, it makes me feel petulant and to claim "I don't want you to like my anime. you don't have the capacity to get it".
thank f for Furudate-san. when I watch Haikyuu i forget my own gender and the character's grnders. they're just people and I'm a person. lack of emphasis on s*x and love and frivolity of relationships makes this anime superior to any other popular anime.
like when reactors are like "Kuroo is hot", us Haikyuu fabs are like "no! Kuroo is a middle blocker specializing in defense and read blocking". like it takes a few to get that they're talking about attraction and romance.
How can people watch episodes of just them hitting balls.
Same reason people can watch 100s of episodes of just throwing fists in a battle Shonen, or dozens of awkwardly tension in a romance. That's a cynical and hypocritical way to write off an entire genre.
For me, Haikyu’s chill openings are like the perfect musical representation of volleyball training periods, meanwhile their more high energy and cool guitar openings represent perfectly the hype long volleyball rallies (once you finish a season for example you will be able to picture all the volleyball actions and nostalgic characters’ histories from just re-listening the openings, endings and in general any soundtrack pieces of the anime even without necessarily wtching the graphics/animations).
Also, like you pointed out, I enjoy how the old rock vibes like in OP 3 which kind of feel from the early 2000’s are on a middle ground that is appropiate to fit with not only the young audiences (shounen) but also still appropiate to certain adult audiences. Since the time period where Haikyu takes places is around the 90’s if I remember correctly, the manga started to be publised on 2011 and the first anime season aired on 2014 and still plans to be cotinued, the way Haikyu was excetuted for its tv serialisation was, to say at least, very effective and solid in all main areas : character devolpment & design, decent animation (for a game that IS NOT easy to recreate), storyline, and music.
Extra: It was well received by the japanese audience and even sparked motivation for the young male middle-high school volleyball japanese boys and promising atheletes by increasing the number of male youngsters engaged in volleyball compared to the decades before like in the 70s and 80s where male volleyball competition in Japan didn’t spark much interest like now (back then mainly the japanese female volleyball competitions where the talk of the town)
I'm sure it's the wrong animation, which makes the opening kinda nonsense. Try watching the original openings ^^

Man you should watch Haikyuu, we all got surprised starting this show fr.
libero usually in volleyball the player in the different colored uniform, a player who is free to move around the court on the back line as a defensive player.
They have to wear different colored uniforms for the refree's to spot them so they can enforce the rules for their poisiton correctly if they break them. They have their own set of rules for volleyball, and from what i understand is a relatively new poistion compared to the sport itself.
setters usually have the same uniform as the original lines but their shirts will be a differrent color. They have a certain set of rules they must follow as well.
The openings 4, 5 and 6 are played by the band Burnout Sindromes.
Sport animes are so good haikyu and kurokos basketball are my favorites

I do not understand the logic behind watching all the opening and ending songs for an anime before finishing their respective seasons. Opening and Ending songs usually contain a lot of spoilers in them.
