    Why does our country feel like a beggar nation when it comes to taxes? Recently, I've traveled to countries like Japan and Korea, and I noticed they have a high standard of living despite lower productivity and paying far less in taxes compared to us. All these corrupt American politicians need to be replaced, especially in Illinois.

    • @NubyPlaysGaming
      @NubyPlaysGaming Месяц назад

      Japan and South Korea don't have great standards of living when you account for work-life balance. The US is bad enough as far as that goes, but those two countries are notorious for their negative work cultures. And if you went there and noticed that your money was going further, it could be because the US dollar has been growing stronger vs their currencies (helps having a president that doesn't try to influence the Federal Reserve).

    • @Warrior11117
      @Warrior11117 Месяц назад

      @@NubyPlaysGaming The strong dollar has been beneficial in some ways, but that's just a small part of the issue. South Korea's GDP is about 1/16th of the United States', yet their healthcare, education, public safety, and cost of living are far superior. I happened to get a comprehensive medical checkup in Korea, and without insurance, I paid around $1,000 for tests that would have cost over $15,000 in the US. In the US, it would have taken over two months and visits to multiple locations to get all these tests done separately, but in Korea, I completed everything in just four hours at one place. Even though the US has eight times the population of South Korea, it has more than twice the amount of money. So where is all that money going? With nearly a $30 trillion GDP, the US needs to seriously reconsider its living standards, infrastructure, education, and public safety. Moreover, 97% of students in Korea go on to higher education. It has to starts with citizens like you and me.

    When property taxes go up and you’re a renter it effects you as well. The increase in expenses just gets passed onto tenants in the form of higher rents. Illinois needs to pass a statewide measure capping property taxes to 1% of assessed value like California does. To offset the loss in tax revenue the state should implement a progressive state income tax instead of a flat rate. The more you earn the more you pay. Also Illinois needs to control the spending especially towards the unfunded public pension liability. It’s mismanagement and corruption.
