3rd eye is one of those songs where it needs a few listens to really appreciate it, otherwise it could be alot of noise and confusion. It's one of my fav songs of all time.
I think I saw that. He cracked a little on the last one and looked so disappointed. Edit: ruclips.net/video/ri2lVA1k5-Q/видео.html it was this performance for those interested.
My favorite RUclips couple listening to a Tool graduates’s song - not for beginners. Definitely a mind trip of note. Guys, please listen to Ticks and Leeches for the best Tool drumming song ever.
Love the line when Maynard screams “Prying open my third eye” over and over again. But the Bill Hicks samples in the intro. Set the mood. “Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather.”
This song is a drug to me! When I listen to it I close my eyes and no matter how the song pans or where the sound is coming from I drive the sound towards where I perceive my Third Eye to be. When the song is over I feel like I've come back from somewhere otherworldly. I don't listen to it to often, but when I do........wow.✌🤘🤘
Haha listen to Rosetta Stoned again and you might re-think is it the best. I am not sure I could say it's better but it's definitely amazing. They have too many epic tracks, so hard to choose.
Third Eye and Rosetta Stoned are strong contenders for their best work (I say, without having listened to any of Fear Innoculum, because I'm waiting for the perfect time to experience it). I think Rosetta Stoned is more overwhelming, but Third Eye is a bigger trip. When I first started listening to Tool, I took to RS much quicker than TE; I had to listen to the latter a couple times to truly appreciate it. Which is why I guess people say that Third Eye is the "final boss" of Tool. It's just on another level. I can't even describe it.
I kind of agree that this is the greatest Tool song. I wouldn't say it's my all time favorite Tool song but there's just something about it that sets it apart from any of their other songs.
Man, my favorite thing to watch outta all things there are to watch is you two listening to Tool. Mrs. Passenger...your body literally melting into the music at 8:43 is gold :)
There hasn’t been a day that’s passed that I have not listened to this song at least once since the 1st listen and STILL this remains my favorite part at 8:43 🙌 ☺️
It's okay to say this is the greatest Tool track ever... Because they ALL ARE! The greatest Tool song is ALWAYS the one you just listened to. Every. Single. Time.
First time I saw them play this live in Oakland CA I was dosed on white blotter, I literally stood there with my mouth on the floor being tossed about by the crowd but I was so striken with this song. The visuals were the tits. Top three trips ever. I peaked at the break where it's spoken word so my inner self was like bursting out of my skin as he swooned and bellowed out "so good to see you once again...." fucking gnarly
You guys are the best!!! I haven’t listened to this song in a minute. Just ate gummy that is probably way too strong on top of a few beers! Enjoying the ride for sure!!!
You are by FAR my favourite RUclipsr, your Tool, APC and Puscifer reactions bring me so much joy 🤍, watching and re-watching your videos have helped me out of a very dark place recently.. Thank you so much 🖤
Seeing you guys react to this song is a blast. that third eye part at the end is like a punch in the face... you have to hold your head to make sure it doesn't explode.
9:20 "Is that it?" Yeah, kind of. It's the end of the intro of the most toolish Tool song there is. LMAO. And no ass kicking from me for sure. #1, I'm too weak and #2 it's my top Tool song. Many others tied for second place.
should show your girl Lost Key Rosetta Stoned next, loved your reaction to that one. I heard it wanting to play after you two were finished with this one lol
This is absolutely one of the best tracks off of ÆNIMA, outstanding song one of my personal favorites. Great to see you revisit this song with erica, another amazing reaction you guy's, keep on rockin 🤘😤
I'd really like to thank you for just honest reactions. Not over thought, just how you feel. Means a lot in this day and age of cynicism. Everyone could use some pure joy in their lives, and if that's not possible, watching someone else's will have to do. Figured she'd dig this one given her other reactions to the band.
YESSSSSS!!! I've been waiting on you two to revisit the Tool stuff you've already covered in your car. LOL. I'd watch you and your wife react to old Tool stuff a dozen times over. Keep it up! This shit is possibly Tool's most abstract song. There are others that can be considered but, at the time, this style of music was novel, a first.
I’ve given up trying to decide my favorite tool song. It’s like that cartoon where bugs bunny sticks his finger in in hole of the dam and another spout starts as soon as he plugs another hole.... just futile.
8:46 at this moment in time you can see you and your wife just melt in the chairs. thaf transition changed my brain before and i got chills all down my body with y'all 😅
Only watched your Tool posts. You give off good energy. Everyone should be able to see that. It flows to those watching. A Tool song I haven't seen suggested is Opiate. Early Tool. Different but still good.
Awesome job as usual. Incredibly complex and emotional song. Interesting thing is that it shares a couple musical traits with Rule of Nines by Spiritbox even though they're very different songs. It's also apropos that you'd post this tonight, as the United States is getting its third eye pried WIDE open tonight, in terms of current events. In any case, stay safe and healthy.
Tool reacts oddly with shrooms, it takes you really deep, this track on top ! You're the best guys ! keep it up ;) Btw you should react to the third eye salival ;)
This is their best song in my opinion too. So good to see you guys, I've missed you so much. No pun intended, just getting back to your channel after some time, keep rocking!
It’s great to reminisce on your car days reactions, all great reactions. It is evident that each member loves the music they create and ‘Third Eye’ is a prime example. They are never afraid to explore their craft and being such well rounded individuals adds to their ability to manipulate such avant-garde, advanced sounds throughout their process of creation and realization of such music. Peace🙃
Those cookies and gummies worked! LoL You also are correct... definitely some of their greatest work imo. As much as I'd love to see you guys listen to every Tool song I have my one suggestion that I hope you do....."Flood" Thanks for the laughs and jam 🤘 🌀
7.34 - Dear wife ( sorry I don't know your name ) I love how you always feel the music, and I do believe you just placed the back of your hand over your Third Eye! It ain't even been opened yet :)
Got the notification for this while I was at work doing a 12 hour night shift over here in England and the first thing I did when I got home was put this reaction straight on! You 2 are the best couple doing reactions! This song is unreal! Stay safe you guys!
how can you be physically alive after this??? Third Eye is a total trip!!!! And like many other Tool songs it requires to be listened many times in order to get all the layers. It's fuckin' beautiful, raw and powerful!
Car days revisited... This will be an EXCELLENT series!! I hope you do all of them!! Great stuff. I've been here for a while and TOOL is what brought me here. @: 0:39 I got really stoked lol
Dylan, I saw TOOL in 1997 and I kept saying they're not gunna play 3rd Eye. They're not gunna play 3rd Eye. They opened with 3rd Eye. Mind blown right out of my helmet. Hope you and yours are well
I love you guys. More car days plz. And listening on edibles is definitely a plus. Can’t wait for the next one. I’m pretty sure I can speak for everyone when I ask you if you can do the whole opiate EP, all in one sitting, it’s like 30 minutes, thank you.
This has always been my favorite Tool track. Has movements like a classically composed orchestral masterwork. Hear new nuances with every listen. Tool at their progressive best. Doesn’t get any better for me. I’ve never tripped on acid but I imagine this song encompasses that journey perfectly.
I have said the same in other comment sections. It is almost classical in it's writing style. In terms of the sound quality and journey-like quality, it reminds me of progressive rock's answer to Igor Stravinsky. There are some moments that are reminiscent of the Rite of Spring for me, particularly with the use of the whole-tone scale and the general atonality/bi-tonality. Those dirty cluster chords that come in with the distortion on the guitar remind me very much of the 'augur' chord from Rite of Spring.
Dude you have to give your wife the gift that is Tools 2 part song 10,000 Days and Wings for Marie. I remember you weeping openly when you first reacted to it because it's about his mom that passed and it's such a beautiful opus. Your wife would love it I'm sure.
This is the greatest tool song ever - period. Not for everyone and definitely took some time to grow on me but I was only 13 at the time - over time, and among all the others, this still stands out as the most Tool of all the Tool
Seeing them play this song a few times has been the highlight of my musical experience. Especially the first time. Acid was hitting hard and I literally just stood there with my jaw on the floor and all three eyes wide open. Amazing. As great as the record version is, when they play Third Eye live... It's off the fucking charts insanity.
So glad you finally revisited. Woke up this morning to see you revisited this with your lady. I remember telling you on IG to do this and another. So now it's time to do the other, either version, or both. PuSHIT
My personal opinion of what this song is about is a person ingesting buttons, aka Peyote and losing their mind and during the course of the trip he is lost and seeing all these visions and slowly his 3rd eye is prying open and he finds his mind, or sanity towards the end and the crescendo is him fully prying open his 3rd eye and seeing the world in a different way. So good to see you, I missed you so much... I think it's the person talking about finding his mind again.
I graduated high school in 2001 from Berkeley high school in Berkeley California ...the community theater was attached to my school ...anyways I saw tool preform it was also my first time doing acid ...this song broke and rebuilt me
I love every Tool song ever. Buuuut only two of them have ever consistently moved me to tears every time I hear them. One is Descending from the Fear Inoculum album. The other is Third Eye. I have never heard their equal in ANY genre.
That’s sick that you said that man. Only a true deep metal listener could make a statement like that. “Greatest tool song” this definitely one of the best tool songs ever. I know every tool song every word lol hard to pick a best tool song but this wins the psychedelic award forsure. Beautiful mind fuck lol What a journey. One of my favs, this vid was clutch for me lol got to hear it almost got the first time.
I’m late for this one, but God was it worth it!!What an amazing song! Gotta be honest, I listen to Tool a lot, but I guess I never gave this song a chance before now! And I love it! Love you guys reaction too 🤘🏻 You gotta do The Pot
Her slapping bit is EXACTLY what I was saying just as that part of the song approached - I literally said aloud that 'you are about to be slapped upside of your face...backhanded too' lol
"my favorite tool song". don't worry about being killed in comments. Their is no wrong answer for " my favorite tool song". There are dozens of right answers.
You guys should definitely react to The Patient, it's from the same album as Lateralus and you've never reacted to it before. Needless to say it's phenomenal. EDIT: Rosetta Stoned is the "sequel" to this song, y'all should check that out too if you love Third Eye
"This is the greatest Tool song" -Me every time I listen to Tool
Hahaha that’s so true!
for me, Vicarious, The Pot, Lateralus, forty six and 2, sober and the grudge are on the top for sure
So true!!!
Mine to!
That profile pic though lol
This is easily in my top 5 tool songs!I love the turbulence and chaos of it! It’s very overlooked but I think it’s amazing!
Tool - The Grudge
YES PLEASE
Oh yes
He did that one and it blew him away, want to see them both do it though and hoping he forgot most of it too!!
This. The grudge is an absolute must.
They've done it
This is in my opinion the best song Tool has ever written. It's a freaking monument of a song
Me too. Lateralus is a close second.
It’s a close second to Reflection for me with Lateralus coming third
Jai Mahakal
Every time I think that I remember Jimmy…
This is one if their most transcendental songs. Truly a masterpiece
The live version from Salival is incredible too!
Cannot agree more Matthew
Proud heretic the live version is amazing but the studio stays my favorite cause of the crazy guitar layering adam does towards the middle of the song
This live version and the Live version of Holy Trinity.
3rd eye is one of those songs where it needs a few listens to really appreciate it, otherwise it could be alot of noise and confusion. It's one of my fav songs of all time.
I feel like that's the case with most TOOL songs.
Agreed, I’ve had revolving Tool songs as my personal favorites and this has only in the last little while been my new favourite and for awhile now too
My favorite Tool song ever.
And what a tribute to Bill Hicks.
They mastered their dynamics in this song. That very quiet section is pure ecstasy and Danny’s quiet drum rolls are so sweet.
He did all 10 "Prying open my third eye"s at a live show once, was something to behold.
He did do a vid 2 years ago but would love to see them both revisit it. Epic song. Wouldn't mind Right in Two as well
Yep ticks and leeches bang
Ticks and leeches are half destruction half calm before the storm
@@jason-7956 they did Right In Two
Tool - Pushit (live Salival)
You won’t regret!!! This is incredible
Your just like most Tool fans. "This has to be there best song" then the next one plays.

When the song is over I feel like I've come back from somewhere otherworldly. I don't listen to it to often, but when I do........wow.✌🤘🤘
I got same feeling from guitar near the begining. Adam might be experimenting with frequencies, chakra-wise. :)
Haha listen to Rosetta Stoned again and you might re-think is it the best. I am not sure I could say it's better but it's definitely amazing. They have too many epic tracks, so hard to choose.
To me is it the best as well. Just by complexity and depth of the meaning
The last part with Dany and Justin raping their instruments was the best eargasm ever.
It's the intensity versus serenity juxtaposition that makes this such an emotional rollercoaster. 11/10
(Shakespeare + Bill Hicks) Alchemized into music
im a Big Tool fan, and in my opinion, this is one of the best Tool songs. this is psychedelic, this is amazing
I kind of agree that this is the greatest Tool song. I wouldn't say it's my all time favorite Tool song but there's just something about it that sets it apart from any of their other songs.
Disposition Reflection Triad, Lost keys/Rosetta Stoned, Third eye, Pneuma and Descending are my top 5 favorites...today. They change on a daily basis
Third Eye, Right In Two, and Lateralus. The perfect trifecta
Man, my favorite thing to watch outta all things there are to watch is you two listening to Tool. Mrs. Passenger...your body literally melting into the music at 8:43 is gold :)
There hasn’t been a day that’s passed that I have not listened to this song at least once since the 1st listen and STILL this remains my favorite part at 8:43 🙌 ☺️
I just made the same comment they just melted after that transition 😂
One dislike?!! That’s one too many. legit reaction, They’re ALL “greatest tool song” ALL tool fans say that to every tool song. Thumbs up.
It's okay to say this is the greatest Tool track ever... Because they ALL ARE! The greatest Tool song is ALWAYS the one you just listened to. Every. Single. Time.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who laughs hysterically at music I really dig. 😂
First time I saw them play this live in Oakland CA I was dosed on white blotter, I literally stood there with my mouth on the floor being tossed about by the crowd but I was so striken with this song. The visuals were the tits. Top three trips ever. I agree man, this song is something else, even for Tool. Probably my favorite of theirs, truly amazing
Have you ever seen them live ? Its a total different experience, a trip...magical life defining moment...greatest musical artists ever of all time
Hell yeah car days baby. Love this song.
👁👁👁🤯🤯🤯🌀🌀🌀🤘🤘🤘
How you gonna go a year without listening to this banger
Oh yes, the car days. Glad you going back, it's sweet seeing her next to you now. Tears.. I'm a tool fan girl, so shh.
You guys are the best!!! I haven’t listened to this song in a minute. Just ate gummy that is probably way too strong on top of a few beers! Enjoying the ride for sure!!!
More TOOL! I loved your reactions to these!
Hey man the live version of this from the Salival album is just as good if not better than the studio version. I prefer the live!!!
hell yes!
Also Push it
ABSOLUTELY! Salival version of Third Eye is 100 times better, better sound quality and mixing, plus it's an almost perfect rendition fucking live!
@@medhead964 yes!
There's some crazy live stuff on there. My favorite version of pushit and third eye
The old adage is the best Tool song is the one I’m currently listening to 😁✌️
Hahahahaha, YASSSSSSSSS 😁
How have you NOT heard this song since then?!
Must have been in a coma, thankfully he pre-recorded a year's worth of vids to keep the channel going!
You are by FAR my favourite RUclipsr, your Tool, APC and Puscifer reactions bring me so much joy 🤍, watching and re-watching your videos have helped me out of a very dark place recently.. Thank you so much 🖤

YES! Wings and the Trilogy... they’ll absolutely lose their shit.
"Your favorite Tool song is the one you're currently listening to."
Correct
Welcome back down the rabbit hole. Love you guys
I agree. Even today, it’s still my favorite. Still get the same feeling hearing it now as I did 25 years ago.
Tool is a band/tribe that anyone who listens to them will change your life to a point view that only exists on another plane.
Might be my favorite Tool song. Great reaction!
This made my day! Been watching you since the car days. When it slowed down and calmed down you wanted to hug her. That was the best!!!
I love how excited she gets lmao, giddy with every part that comes.
Seeing you guys react to this song is a blast. that third eye part at the end is like a punch in the face... you have to hold your head to make sure it doesn't explode.
9:20 "Is that it?"
Yeah, kind of. It's the end of the intro of the most toolish Tool song there is. LMAO. And no ass kicking from me for sure. #1, I'm too weak and #2 it's my top Tool song. Many others tied for second place.

This is absolutely one of the best tracks off of ÆNIMA, outstanding song one of my personal favorites. Great to see you revisit this song with erica, another amazing reaction you guy's, keep on rockin 🤘😤

You never did Tool - You lied (LIVE) , people always forget this song
One of my favorite songs. You never see people reacting to it.
Funny’s lot of people don’t realize it’s a Cover of the Peach Song- You lied

I love your reactions to Tool. It always takes me back to the first time I heard the song. Love this song but Lateralus is my all time favorite.
My favourite of theirs, in a discography full of masterpieces.
The thing with tool is that they don't relese a song if all 4 members agree and it has to be "Perfect", high quality control.

Dude you know you gotta revisit tool now with your awesome partner. The rabbit hole is deep
Thank you so much for doing this!!!
