Jesus, if that's not the epitome of "parts car", I don't know what is. Seeing as E46's are like lego, you could probably buy an estate and use all the M3 parts to make an M3 wagon. Providing it's done right, you might make some money, and would be an interesting watch. Would be a far easier than repairing all that bodywork, at least.
He’s literally saying that some of the parts like the bonnet and boot lid are in great condition and worth a shit tonne yet the won’t just strip it and sell it???? I like the idea of the series but it just doesn’t make sense
@@DaleSteel a lot of those parts go for more than 1k each used. The engine along could go for a least 5k if they did a rebuild. Not to mention the performance parts on the engine. I'd part it out, make some profit if those good parts are genuine, make a video out of it and move on to the next step with a new car. Makes perfect sense to me!

@@tpiski Yes I DO agree that watching someone strip a car for parts wouldn't be very entertaining. But yes I'm looking forward to watching them go crazy trying to fix this thing. And in the end are they adding the RUclips money to getting to the supercar??? This car is definitely not worth repairing😅 but seeing the bright side… if you strip it and sell it by parts you can regain the money spent, maybe even make some money, and you also get to do some cool videos😂

Great idea for a series! You can tell Richard was thinking “what’ve you gotten me into” 😂 Gonna be very interesting to watch a car that might normally be left for dead be brought back. Good luck! Maybe we can get the final super car vs the super killer Subie at the end of both series 🤔
Buy another E46 and swap all the good bits in :) it would also be a great learning experience, besides a good watch. Maybe you can even make some profit!
Probably not the best idea buying a car from copart unseen 😅 and probably best to sell the M3 for parts you’d get 15-20k!! might not be best content for the channel but I’m sure you guys will make it entertaining because it’s going to be hard to sell it for 20k when it’s recorded category-S
If that strut tower is 1.5mm out now just imagine how far out it is once you put a strut bar on it that isn't bent like a banana. Come on lads. I'm all for this but that thing is toast and really should be scrapped.
Given the structural issues and damage I'd reshell that. Find an m3 with a blown engine, transfer across the drivetrain, sell the high value bits like bonnet, boot and ITBs. I reckon that's the only way you come out of this in the black.
Yeahh, I just wish they posted an update on the project, there's a separate playlist for the 15k to supercar "series" and it never got an ep.2 @@Patriiiiick

I would scrap the shell and transfer the good bits onto another shell. Possibly a touring shell? Bits like the bootlid would be an easy sell in the case of you guys building an e 46 m3 touring.
I’d scrap it and re shell , but hey that would be too easy and make boating content . Sills on these are a horrible job and ye ol jacking point will have gone too . Pity it’s not a 36 as I’ve got 5 shells for bits 😇 . Always a pleasure to watch your content and I just subscribed 🇬🇧👍
Looking forward into the series, hope it builds up into getting a more modern supercar. Though the way I see it, it would probably be more profitable to just dismantle the parts and sell it.
As a young millennial I look forward to following this series until I retire...and then continuing to follow it. Part it out and start with some other weird car, there's easily 8-10k in parts in that wreck. Make some funny episodes of the issues you have selling parts to people, no one wants to watch this thing get rebuilt. Maybe trade it for some weird vehicle like a Lagonda. There's a reason people who do videos on in depth rebuilds involving bodywork and rust repair don't have a lot of views. It's painful, expensive, takes forever, and doesn't make good content. I'm looking forward to more subi vs supercar, the inevitable blown EJ, and more wrenches to the face when you swap another used EJ in.
Having just completed my subframe reinforcement and complete restoration from underneath, I have both the feeling of smugness and sympathy, because it’s a vile job 😂
S54 Engine - £5k Interior - £1k CSL boot lid - £2k ITB stacks - £800 You already have what you paid for it in just those 5 parts.. Part this thing out and move on to the next car.
Im sure this was binned on a trackday this summer? Personally id either break it, use it as a donor for another E46 to sell as a rep, or buy a kitcar/Westfield style thing to take all the parts.
Get a good E46 Touring for a base, swap the driveline and suspension into it. You have to replace a sill and quarter on this car anyway.. may as well just replace two quarters on the Wagon and make it cooler than this car. I bet it'll cost less too.
thats worth more in Part out then it is worth to fix and put back on the road. Engine and trans alone would fetch a hug fat price tag with all its mods on it. that Genuine trunk if it is so rare has to be worth a grand or more on its own even the shell if you gut everything out cut the damaged quarter panels off and made it ready to go for some one looking to build a Track car get a good price for that as well because of the Carbon roof. i hate to say it but that BMW is worth significantly more as a parts car vs a functioning car XD. thats all BMWs past 1997 pretty much XD
I think buying an e46 estate and swapping all the parts over would make far more sense. A nicely done "m3 touring" would be a lot more valuable than a salvaged chassis imo
Should definitely opt to part it out rather than rebuild it. Love the concept for the video but having the goal of selling the whole car in working order seems like a bit of a pipe dream in that condition.

All I’ve ever done with cars is change oil and air filter and rotate tires and I was also thinking they would use it as a parts car
