- Michal Gondko (renaissance lute) performs Pavan "Heres Paternus" by Anthony Holborne.
Instrument: 8-course Renaissance lute (after Venere) by Martin Haycock.
Recorded in July 2010 in the Sastamala Old Church (Finland). With many thanks to Chris Thorpe.
Beautiful! Holborne is so under appreciated!
Very clean and expressive.
Superb playing!
Mr. Gondko is a master of the lute. His rendering of this piece is as good as it gets, IMO.
Beautiful composition, performance, and instrument.
He is a magician, he turned a renaissance lute into a romantic guitar!
Exceptionally smooth, and with rich tone! Congratulations and thank you for sharing!
Amazing music and tone and mastery of the instrument of this beautiful piece!
Magnifique son et interprétation, merci du partage.

Where can I find this sheets?
In my Holborne edition 😀
Wasn’t this originally written as a duet?
No - Holborne has not composed a single lute duet. The version for lute has survived in 4 sources. and, of course, there is a version for consort published in 1599.
