- Finding out I was HIV+ was one of the scariest moments of my life, however, on the pat day, I decided that I was not going to let this diagnosis define me.

My dad made sure my husband got tested before we got married. I was a virgin. Its stories like this that make me see the importance of abstinence.

While I'm practicing abstinence as well & definitely know that it cuts the risk dramatically, there are unfortunately people's spouses that are infecting them as well. 😓 Some spouses are tragically worse than strangers, because they intimately know you, entered into covenant with you, and yet still do you dirty. Dirtier than sometimes even a stranger would, smh.

@KelahCash yes so true.. I actually heard a story from my friend.. she was taking care of a young lady in a nursing home because she got aids from her husband so I definitely agree. But by practising abstinence atleast if it happens we can say we didn't do anything wrong and not feel guilt or regret. Also it lowers chances of getting hpv etc

Thank the universe for protecting me amongst my ho days. Also when I was dating my ex for 4 years and who was on hard drugs and cheating on me. My new boyfriend and I get our bloodwork done ever year, not because we don’t trust each other but we do it for ourselves to stay healthy.
I had a friend who slept with anyone under the sun, bridge and alley. She ever caught it. Only by the grace of God for all of us. I had a friend who caught herpes from having sex with a man with multiple partners. My aunt caught it from her husband.
What is your blood type? I feel that some blood types protect people from hiv. My mother is O negative. She was with a guy for 2 years and one day got a call from the health department reporting that the guy she was with had tested positive for hiv. It turned out to be full-blown AIDS. She never tested positive. My sister and I both have negative blood types. We grew up having sex from the ages of 11 with men who took advantage of us. All through our teen years, it was sex, all unprotected. We were so dysfunctional. My brother, too. And none of us caught this. I'm wondering if blood type has something to do with it.

That makes me sad. Your so Beautiful and it's very hard out there and he should have been honest with you. There was a guy in Wisconsin that gave it to my sisters friends sister. Like 15 yrs or so ago. Now. By the Good Grace of God 🙏 there is medication for it. Now. None of us know, if we sleep with someone if they would be honest and tell a person they have HIV. You should do a day in the life of a woman with HIV. Or self care videos. How you eat any supplements you take to stay healthy and your skincare routine cause you have really great skin

That’s not true, HIV AIDs is a sexually transmitted disease. Anyone having sex is at risk for contracting the virus even if you abstain from sex until marriage. There’s no guarantee that in marriage partners will be faithful. Im a christian & know plenty of ppl in & outside the church who have had infidelity issues in their marriage. Abstinence doesn’t guarantee faithfulness in marriages, for Christ sake remember we’re all sinners, but by the grace God we’re saved and made anew. We’re human beings with flaws. It does teach great values in faith in God, self worth & self control though. But abstinence isn’t the only way to by itself. Choosing partners wisely, couples coaching and urging couples to get 6 months STD testing aids in the education of sexual health. The church needs to be more transparent and truthful when it comes to sex & sexual health; half the church is sleeping around with each other anyways. But that’s common with any large group of ppl in any organization, unfortunately that’s human nature.

It’s the fact that every time my status comes back negative for HIV. It makes me want to know the realization of what it’s like for someone else to have it. Teaching myself a lesson I’m thankful for these stories.

Former HIV case manager here… you can still get HIV in marriage. Plenty of married people cheat on each other and bring STDs into each others lives

@@keelahcovington4185 that’s the point about the medical tests of it being undetectable- undetectable it’s not active at a level it can be spread. You can be 99.999999% or more of not contracting it. I personally if I was faced with the choice would consider being intimate unprotected for having a child - I’d not have the peace of mind in other scenarios personally but there’s couples who’ve been safe for many years with regular tests and of course continuous retro viral therapy
Undetectable means it can’t be spread! Even HIV+ women who are undetectable can carry a baby without passing on the virus.

HIV1 most common and treatable. HIV 2 difficult to treat.
My little sister told me she was with a guy who told her after they had sex that he thinks he has HIV/AIDS and she freaked out, BUT never got tested. Now she’s seeing someone and I told her you need to get tested and she said she won’t. I kept telling her to, and she won’t listen to me. So right now I’m not talking to her and I feel like she needs to get tested to know her status and find out for sure. I asked her if she was going to call the cops on him and she said no. So he’s still out there and she keeps seeing guys. It’s ridiculous and horrible.

She should get tested but from what I hear it takes a few times to transfer.
That's crazy your sister should've want to the E.R and told them what the guy told her so she could've got medication , if she had taken the medication within 72 hours it would prevent HIV infection if the guy did happen to be HIV positive. Just wow and sad .

In South Africa, the first thing they do is a mandatory HIV test.

I just want to say that you're extremely beautiful and I'm really sorry that man put you through this. I appreciate you being bold and brave and showcasing how life doesn't end after a positive diagnosis! But most importantly I truly appreciate your honesty. The hardest thing for me has been getting mental health treatment and housing. I live in West Virginia and I’ve been homeless for over a year. I receive my treatment at the Ryan White center in Charleston and there’s supposed to be moneys allocated from the RWI to help me with expenses however getting the assistance is evidently a super secret undercover operation. lol hence my name… I rotate between couches of my last 2 close family members. It’s hell. I am 52 years old and retired from teaching kindergarten and have found myself in a place I never ever thought I would be. Alone, no vehicle, no place to call my own and running out of hope. I ask for your prayers please and any advice or information about resources that are impossible to obtain.

I don't even know if testing is always good enough because sometimes someone has and it doesn't show up on the test I think. Some sichos pull the condom off at the last second just to infect other people

I’m sorry for what happened to you and you are so brave to share your story…We need to go back to doing our own background check on a potential future spouses. Growing up in the late nineties early 2000s. I was getting tested religiously and anyone who declined was a Hell no! My motto because it was push in our young minds so much “Know your status” and anyone who did not practice the same you got to go. Now, I see that a lot of young people are so willing to take the chance without a second thought. 5 seconds of pleasure is not worth the rest of your life time being on medication!! Urgent care dors not take the place of Primary care. Primary care is where you should expect an HIV test. Urgent care is there to put a bandaid on the problem until yiu can follow up with your Primary care Physician.

It is wonderful that you share your story and I commend you 4 the openness. Your reaction after finding out he gave HIV is commendable. My reaction would have resulted in a prison sentence. No amount of love, care, concern or any other feelings could or would negate a man purposely giving me HIV. My only 2 feelings towards him would be hate and rage. But that's me so it's wonderful that you are so positive and forgiving.

I hate to be this person, but sometimes God allows this to happen so you can be saved. Sin rarely produces wholesome fruit. But what matters now is that you know better, and you can lead others down a better path with your story.
You could have called the Police and let them know he's positive for HIV and spreading it to other women and he could have gotten some kind of murder charge, and it depends on what state you live in!

This is so traumatic...I can't even imagine I would ever have the ability to love and trust another person again. I'd be so traumatized. Why is HIV such a big issue in America? Here in Southern Africa people have HIV and say it loud and no one makes a big issue out of it. There's no stigma anymore. People see HIV like any other disease.

You have taken the bull by its horns Bianca. South Africa built a strong HIV infrastructure over the years and HIV testing is so common that with every little symptom, one is advised to test. We have been ridiculed at as an HIV capital. It is possible that countries that claim to have lower infection rates have stigmatised the disease and operating in the dark. There is life after HIV. I think it's best to educate young people about the risk of STDs, it's best to have sex with a person you marry and know he is STD free.
Married people cheat! ⅓ of people on tinder are MARRIED!!! And that's just one platform, many other social media and dating apps where married people cheat, and the old fashioned cheating at work, someone they already know, hooking up at a bar, strip clubs, brothels in massage parlors, HIV, STDs when people cheat! The person who pays the price is the faithful partner unfortunately. I think only cheaters should pay the price and be in prison for life for giving hiv to someone else, knowingly.
Lesson learned that this BRAVE woman is speaking about, is to get tested and always use a condom, even with your husband or wife, because they cheat too
