    Thank you SpawnWave. I purchased a refurbished and upgraded 2011 office PC to serve as a modest but capable and affordable gaming rig, and soon came upon the lack of high speed input/output solutions for my Elgato HD 60 S capture card.
    I searched on RUclips and instantly found your video, in which you were discussing this problem, WITH THE EXACT SAME MODEL COMPUTER I HAVE.
    I purchased the part and made sure to use your affiliate link to make sure you got a cut.
    I haven't installed anything like this since I put an internal dial up modem into my old IBM PS/2 system in the 90's, but it was a breeze, though in my case, I had to deliberately bend part of the metal outer panel on the PCI card to make it fit properly, before that I spend a long time worried I was doing something wrong, but once I realized it was just a few MM off I was able to make it work. Power took some effort to plug in but it worked with some finessing.
    I installed using the included CD and the drives work!
    Thank you!
    I occasionally watched your gaming news coverage, but you really saved my bacon with this one.

It has the driver installed via the CD it came with. It IS detected by the PC and says it IS working properly. BUT when I plug anything in to any of the ports, it will read for a second then stop... then read again then stop. Sometimes just read then stop and thats it. What do I do???? Thanks.

    I'm curious, do all USB 3 PCIe cards need SATA power and data? I ask because I don't recall the same when I installed a USB 2 card in an old system yonks back. I thought the power and data were taken from the PCIe instead. Could be my bad memory of course.
    I'm wanting to install USB 3 in an old server from 2012 which only has USB 2. But I don't have any spare SATA power connectors and only one SATA port on the MB which I'm using for an SSD. Any ideas?

    Thanks for this! I am currently considering upgrading my PCIe USB 2·0 card (and the connecting cables, A to Mini-B) to a 3·0 card, for my 3 (soon to be 4) external hard drives. I did not anticipate there would be any conflict, but I wanted to be sure - cos with computers, you just never know what's gonna decide to be wonky and develop a conflict.
    I suppose however, I may have to also upgrade the enclosures, as my current ones are only 2·0 - I suppose I the mere card and cables will be enough to reap the speed benefits of the 3·0 until that is done?
    Can anyone confirm that?
    Thanks!

    I tried this on an old pc but didn't get usb 3 speeds at all.
    What no advertising or reviews on youtube mention is that yes the usb 3.0 card is pci express, if your motherboard has only pci express x1 to x16 slot but is actually pci express version 1 or version 1.1 then you can't get usb 3 speeds as the pci bus is too slow to reach usb 3 speeds.

    Heya Spawn, speaking of your budget builds.
    Monster Hunter World is coming in roughly 9-12 months, and my laptop can barely run Overwatch at minimum specs, so I don't really think it will be able to run MHW both somewhat pretty and without tanking FPS hard.
    Unfortunately, although I play a crap ton of PC games, my overall PC spec knowledge is rather lacking. Could you do a quick runthrough on what I should be looking for and avoid when (massive quotes here) "building" a PC? What do I need to be aware of while planning a buy, what are the specs that can minimally run current gen at medium set 1080p 30FPS, or even 60 if it stays in budget.
    I've seen many people complain that Capcom is "forcing" them to get a gaming rig to play the new installment of MH and I do think a solid consumer's guide on how to do this cheaply might sooth some people's rage.

    • @pro2gamer
      @pro2gamer 7 лет назад +1

      Yes I know that if I save money now, I can buy a better base and card in the same budget range when MHW comes out rather than right now.
      That's nearly basic common sense x)

    • @slenderjow647
      @slenderjow647 7 лет назад

      I wouldn't call myself an expert but if you want to play at 1080p 30-60 fps in mid to high then a pentium G4560 along with a 1050 or a 1050ti will work and either 4 gb of ram or 8gb of ram will be enough though remember you'll still need a case and a motherboard
      But if all you want to play is monster hunter then I suggest wait and see what the minimum specs are
      Alternatively you can do what spawn did and get a core i3 or i5 for cheap and put in a 1050 or 1050ti

    • @waruru9219
      @waruru9219 7 лет назад +1

      SlenderJow Don't get 1050 or ti. Get G4560 + RX 470. Not only is this amazing for 1080p 60fps in any modern game on at least high settings, it can also do some 4K. Great "budget" build and best bang for your buck. Also, get 8GB ram at least.
