Glorious Verrans! Again, thank you for tuning into this months update! We are diligently working on preparing for Alpha Two! Commissions are your most basic quest in the world of Verra, and they are constantly changing to show the state of the dynamic world. These commissions feed every other quest system, and reflect your actions in real time! Leave us your thoughts on the preview as our wonderful Community Team will be compiling your feedback! We appreciate your thoughts greatly, and love that you spend time with us each month sharing your feedback to help improve Ashes of Creation!
Hope you guys sort out the audio issues, this time it was steven loud then quiet, you were quiet most of the time like last update, makes it really hard to watch, i was turning the volume up and down and getting blasted both times, please test and fix it, it has been fine until the recent couple of updates.
So I say this most streams, I'm very keen to join alpha 2, vie been in many beta tests and I find it as a very fun aspect of gaming, trying to find bugs and help the team squash them, but I just wasn't able to justify the $400 plus that it cost in Australian dollars to join alpha 2, if there is a cheaper way to get in id be happy to, I have no luck with give always so id need to purchase my way in, I just cant justify $400
I really hope we get to see more of these world focused systems in future updates. As cool as it is to see classes, what I really want to see is how I'm going to be interacting with the world on a day to day, week to week basis.
This was quite a pleasant surprise! I loved how the gameplay loop was shown with how commissions can lead you to finding events and story arcs you may not have known about! Plus they can get you familiar with the area so you know where the mobs spawn and so on.
The Carphin Light set is beautiful :O The pattern on the chest looks like a ribcage and the red strips hanging off look like sinew. Even the tiny pieces of thread holding the frayed robe together. I love the anatomy/bone/muscle motif. The concept artist and model are brilliant - I love storytelling through clothing.
If one day my dream of being a part of a game dev team as an artist comes true. I hope my team will have fun together like u guys do! IM so hyped for this game, u have no idea.
We are a passionate group of gamers doing our best to create a glorious MMO! We are hiring so take a look at our careers page. 😉 intrepidstudios.com/careers
Wow its been a minute since Ive updated myself on Ashes, its come such a long way. Im impressed with spell visuals, specifically Chain Lightning looks AMAZING and you FEEL powerful while casting it. "Unlimited POWER"
I didn't expect it but every video seems some improved graphics. I have not yet seen the weather looking that detailed and the caster animations! wow!!. Frost on the ground, lightning from the fingers. just amazing progress from many fronts. still super excited.
In regards to that persons question at 1:25:09 about low mob drop rates for quest items, I agree that it is really frustrating when you need to loot 5 quest items from mob kills but it takes 10 or more kills to get 1 quest item to drop. Maybe a good work around, which preserves the quests difficulty, could be to increase the amount of items needed to complete the quest by a lot (maybe to 50), and have every mob guarantee drop anywhere from 1-3 quest items? This could give players a sense of guaranteed progression with the added dopamine hit from occasionally looting multiple items from 1 kill. To me, in a low drop chance scenario, finally getting a drop feels more like a relief rather than a burst of excitement. I've always found high or guaranteed drop chance with high volume required for completion feeling much better.
killing 10 mobs for 5 items isn't frustrating. Killing 100 mobs for 20 items, is. i don't mind the not 100% droprate but if you need 700.000 items and they drop every 5 mobs it's no a quest. It's an EXP grind.
Much love for your Team Steven! You are doing such a nice work with your whole Team and the Progress with that amazing Game I would say WE ALL as a Community are fucking hyped. At least I am - LOL Keep it up like that!
In the past, IS said that they have built their Anti-cheat software from the ground-up and will have dedicated moderators for added security. With the ever-growing spread of AI enhanced cheating software that evade detection and are refined as soon as a solution is developed, can IS keep the cheaters to a minimum while not implementing software that has more access to my computer than my FBI agent?
the spell effects for mages are cool for starters, also the world looks very immersing, i look forward to hear the games fantasy music in the future it plays a big part in every first impression for mmos.
Greetings AoC team, this will be my first post in the community. I've really enjoyed tracking the progress of this game and am very grateful for how transparent you all are with development. Please keep up the great work- the game looks really nice and we cannot wait to try it. That being said, I have a question I would like to ask about combat: Will there be any kind of aggro tracking GUI? As a player of other MMOs, I really can appreciate the value that a simple aggro table can provide to me to let me know how many enemies I have on me, the health level of each one, etc. Thank you again for all that you are doing.
they've already said there wouldnt be, we are going to have to keep track of aggro based off how the enemies are acting(who they are moving towards and attacking)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the rain just a personal screen effect? It seems to have no impact on the ground or water. Also, it was raining while Steven was inside a cave. That would imply that I wouldn't be able to see a rainy territory from afar. It also seems odd that I could go inside a house, look out the window, and it's not raining, but the effect kicks in when I leave the house.
I would assume it would have to be both. The random lightning during the rain implies that the rain exists within a volumetric zone. the water splatter on the screen is likely clientside but surely there is some sort of shader or effect for the exterior of the volume.
If quests are all shareable (as of now) does this mean there are no chain quests? Or would attempting to share a later portion of a chain share the intro quest to the chain? Or just not be shareable?
We know that the normal death penalty incurs a myriad of penalties for the player, but we don’t know the numbers behind this penalty. For instance, what percentage of materials do players drop? What percentage of glint is dropped? How severe is the skill and stat dampening? What is the average time it will take a player to work off xp debt from one death?
I hope that quests will have similar or even better functions as, for example, events in GW2. I really liked how an area changed when an event started and you either made it and the situation in an area changed positively or when you didn't make it and it had a negative impact on an area .
Thank you for another great showcase. I do have a question. In the live stream Steven was shown looting his team mates items off his ashes. Do you ever gain corruption for looting another player's corpse? For instance if I'm walking down the road and see a dead player can I loot it all willy nilly? Are there any downsides? I feel like in other games if you see a player struggling with a mob you might help them. But in Ashes if you see that you might just let them die because you know you could loot the body without actually engaging in pvp.
The Idea with the Cross-Server-Competitions is GREAT! I particularly would like to see -> - Dungon Raidingspeed competition - Mount off :D - Transmog competition - Castle sieges - Arena Fights Pleas add your own Ideas as ResponsesMount off :D - Transmog competition
That was a very satisfying sound that played when you accepted the commission board quests. Don't scrap that kind of menu sound design consideration for the final product! I think the sound of spamming buttons or other UI elements is very important and plays a roll in generating that gamer serotonin.
An amazing showcase. Was mostly impressed with the difficulty of open world mobs. They had legitimate threat even in groups of 3 which encourages group play. Also noticed mana sustain and management seems to have impact and difficulty too! - Question: Can we have an update on current plans or progress for the summoner archetype? It’s been a while ♥️
I wonder how many others out there are like me. I was super excited for this game and bought into the aplha 2. This has just taken so damn long that my life has changed enough where i just no longer have time in my life to play this game and enjoy it. Feelsbad.
If I'm in a group and take a quest like such will it be shared to my party in order to increase the effectiveness of our actions as a group or would every single player have to pick up the quest to dig deeper in the story line attached to it?
For the server vs server events. Have Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual. Ascension events. Where we fight in divinity castles. Same as normal server castles, but reskinned to match a theme. Organized player save cut offs, so get your consumables on hand for the server reset during the cut off date. Then week or so down the line, during next server reset or during a planned game patch day, the Ascension events begin! Players queue in and ready for battle in a GM streamed event, meant to entertain players while the in game world is having it's major patch implemented. Perhaps add in rewards like server wide buffs for whichever team wins after patch is complete and event is over.
Now I am only worried that my Gigabyte G5 GD RTX 3050M laptop won't be up to Alpha 2 at 1080p. But I really liked Commisions, as it feels like a great way to play.
@@patrickobrienstrAt the very end of this video, they said that the specs had been updated on the website and to check it out. It says that the minimum GPU for 1080p is GTX 1070, and checking benchmarks, a mobile RTX 3050 4GB is not there. I don't want to upgrade this year.
58:01 Will there be commissions that contribute to node development in the sense of, "This commission will progress the blacksmith/building level." Or, "This commission will affect buy/sale rates, and taxes." As two examples. Or will they exclusively progress world development? I could see the rarity system becoming an issue if blue rarity increases blacksmith, but I want to increase lumbermill but it's white.
When it comes to the events will healers get just as much participation credit as those doing all the nob killing? Or are healers going to have to focus DPS just to be able to get decent rewards?
Question: Has Intrepid figured out what happens to people in a node when it levels up? Will people be ported out of the node when it levels or maybe something else? Awesome livestream btw =)
They have talked about this, i think they actually demonstrated at one point. When it levels up, if a character is somewhere that a new building will appear, they will be quickly moved out of the way. i believe just outside of the node walls if i remember correctly.
I actually quite like the idea of everyone being TP'd out together. Just imagining a massive blob of people running back through the front gates to view their newly upgraded node, like a reveal of a renovation on grand designs
Is the Objective Tracker re-organisable? Like when I have a bunch of quests listed, but I want to be able to rearrange them in the specific order I'd like to complete them in. Are the quests listed in the Objective Tracker able to drag/drop to different order?
Hello, I don´t know if you already are on it but can you fix so when we sit and eat and regain health/mana it will be more immersive if we take a mug or a piece of meat to the mouth instead of just looking into nowhere. Love your work and looking forward to the game.
Margaret, please mate, can you turn up your mic... those of us with hearing impairments can barely hear you and have to rely on reading captions (which can be very hit and miss). Steven... congrats on being the first person I have ever said "Wow that is loud" to. :)
@@rodzwart6360 funny, she is always quiet to me... that said, I did have jobs to do yesterday and once I returned (post the original comment) I did hear them discussing the issue regarding audio.
love the cards and quests board, and how it will evolve would be cool if there were bonus objectives within them aswell giving you extra bonuses if you chose to so or have time to do them or secret bonus tasks that you could find and add to more exploration and story building
ive been following and throwing money at this for what feels like almost a decade...shit looks good....lemme freaking play it hahahaha ... love the node level event!
10:27 in regards to esports and mmo’s why not give nodes arena customisation functions? Be it one node has a 1v1 tournament another 4v4 or yet another that does “mage quest trials” I think a lot of fantasy based anime’s have some solid concepts in them that could transfer to the mmo space that would work for spectators? Since from what I’ve seen of this game it leans into individual towns developing there own unique flavour, why not allow this to be enhanced in the pvp space? There’s even possibilities for cross node tournaments like a “tourism” boost to them? Just provide an arena customisation option for this space ?
Wish I would've seen this sooner- about gave me a heart attack at 1 in the morning.. I really hope they can finally figure out how to fix the audio issues before starting the stream!
i have really high hopes for this game! i would personally love to see some voice acting at least in the main quest because it really makes the immersion that much better
For E-Sport I'd like to see a colosseum arena that operates like wow's brawlers guild. Spectators and teams may come and congregate in the stands. When it's a teams turn they spawn out on the arena floor. People in the stands can spectate. Obviously this system would limit the volume of matches that could happen, which would need to be worked out. Maybe layer 60 people per one arena or something.
MMO's suck as e-sports, the only one that came close is WoW and even they canceled their esports side, i want ZERO effort and money from the devs spent on a useless waste of time aspect and all focus spent and things just for the game
Hello! I have a question. Will there be collecting items from monsters like in other mmo's? I didn't notice (maybe I missed) the moment of picking up the items. I mean inventory items, some vendor items, potions, etc. Regards!
I think it's great that leveling can also be a challenge. I don't like it when I just run through the qest without having to worry about my character dying. THANK YOU
Hey guys. When will we get a more precise date to alpha copmared to Q3? I'll request time off from work, but for one week, I need to request 1 month earlier, and for more i need to request even earlier. So basically, i'm not trying to rush, i'm trying to plan lol
1:26:47 I hope that doesn't mean that there's crazy mob density when traversing the world. One of the worst things to me in so many beautiful, open games is that they are positively bursting with hostile mobs. It makes traveling and exploring the landscape a slog when you can't walk 5 steps without getting pounced by a jaguar or a group of bandits - forget RP.
I enjoyed Ashes preview before, but this year they got next level exciting. I really start getting the MMORPG vibes, not just a puzzle pieces. Hope to see guild and naval content soon-ish
Please have a set of Story Tellers that drive storylines. I used to run 60 to 100 person LARPS of Vampire with 3 STs. It is amazing what a small group working together can do, prod here poke there. JUst want to see an MMO that has folks watching over things as well as the system stuff.
Hi! I have a quesiton: There are recipes that can be obtained through commissions, are there other ways to get them? Let me explain: if the commissions change every X amount of time and have factors such as the level of the node, time, etc. Could it be the case that you are rewarded with a recipe for a commission and then that mission does not appear again for that node? So that would make the recipe or reward for that mission only available to whoever made it at the time it could be done. Is it planned to repeat the commissions so that everyone can access their rewards?
I think this system could work well if. It would only be available to city residents above a certain level (lvl3). And the missions are constantly updated. It wants to be a competition between cities. But if you can do a mission in every city, I think it is very destructive to the community. In order to avoid going from city to city just for these missions, if you are thinking about a daily mission or want to put large CDs on it, it is available everywhere. And even if you put a big cd on the missions, my main problem is still the alt characters. (sorry if it's hard to understand, I'm writing with a translator)
With the massive success of other indie teams (Helldivers 2 and Last Epoch for example) and the network/connection issues that followed, what steps have the team taken in order to make sure players get in as easily as possible when A2 launches? Any lessons learned from A1? Can't wait for Q3 and the launch of A2!
Game looks great. Excited to test in Alpha 2! Please fix the outro music 1:34:10 it is catastrophically tacky to have two different music tracks in two different incompatible keys playing on top of each other and it makes me want to set myself on fire every month
26:33 this for me is great atention to what players want, i hate when mobs get out of their position range an immediately get their health back so seen how you are available to kill him when he is going back is aweasome, specially after a hard fight without mana.
I really hope AoC will have fully voiced NPC dialog. Not just the greeting when you click them. Nothing brings world alive than hearing NPCs talk. It's one of the few things that make FFXIV appear a tad dated. ESO is miles ahead on this front.
I have a question for the next stream. What races can we expect when we eventually gain access to the character creator Pre-Alpha 2? Also, will we be able to save those characters to load up when Alpha 2 begins?
how about the people who are not from USA and bought the access to the alpha 2, is that a problem ? I am from Brazil and like a lot of your content. Thank you
Is this game like vrising or valheim or something where u have to join a server and start building stuff and then gets server wipe or is it like albion online or runescape type of mmo where everyones just in 1 server
Ragnarok was my favourite mmorpg. Hope you do any of their success formula. Pretty Please -Freaking good BGM -Difficulty -Skills matter, are distinct and matter from the beggining -Rare Items from nearly any monster with huge impact on either cosmetic or Skill Basis
hey i rly believe in our game and would love go invis in bushes or sth. its a good way to play stealth more intuitiv specially in combination of line of sight i will start playing end of year with u!!!
it would be nice to have some environmental effects alla baldurs gate 3, for example, lightning and the mobs are on water ?, then it spreads to all nearby ....
You need to wait and see how Augments will work, maybe you can do an mixed heal/mage, augments will be an second class that will to influence your primary class but still work in progress
If rewards from open world events like these are valuable in endgame then it'll be hotspots for team pvp in open world. Interesting to see how that unfolds.

If im in a small group and we level up a node does the node level up for everyone or just those in our group
If I am out and run into say that Horde and I wipe and scatter them, and get to a Node, will it show I completed it already?
There's a typo in the Stormcaller's Axe recipe name
ive been following and throwing money at this for what feels like almost a decade...shit looks good....lemme freaking play it hahahaha ... love the node level event!

@@Saintphoenix86 You are so insightful. Next time I want to comment with an idea, I'll be sure to run it by you first.
@@sumasaum at least my reply had a point, yours is just you being a cunt
As someone who is planning to make their first character a Py'rai, I love the starting armor!
Hello! I have a question. Will there be collecting items from monsters like in other mmo's? I didn't notice (maybe I missed) the moment of picking up the items. I mean inventory items, some vendor items, potions, etc. Regards!
Have been following Ashes for half a decade. I will be playing Bard.

I hope that doesn't mean that there's crazy mob density when traversing the world.
One of the worst things to me in so many beautiful, open games is that they are positively bursting with hostile mobs. It makes traveling and exploring the landscape a slog when you can't walk 5 steps without getting pounced by a jaguar or a group of bandits - forget RP.
When taking the commission is it still available to other players? Or is it first come first serve
I enjoyed Ashes preview before, but this year they got next level exciting. I really start getting the MMORPG vibes, not just a puzzle pieces. Hope to see guild and naval content soon-ish
how do you apply for the content creator stuff?
I want to know about Itemization will we have lots of cool unique stats on gear or just boring stats just higher numbers in the end game
Question: Does weather affect player's stats?
With the massive success of other indie teams (Helldivers 2 and Last Epoch for example) and the network/connection issues that followed, what steps have the team taken in order to make sure players get in as easily as possible when A2 launches? Any lessons learned from A1? Can't wait for Q3 and the launch of A2!
the idea of unique quests is sick, reminds me of shanri la frontier anime
Дужа гарна ігра дякую вам
Та не то слово, чекаємо
Game looks great. Excited to test in Alpha 2! Please fix the outro music 1:34:10 it is catastrophically tacky to have two different music tracks in two different incompatible keys playing on top of each other and it makes me want to set myself on fire every month
26:33 this for me is great atention to what players want, i hate when mobs get out of their position range an immediately get their health back so seen how you are available to kill him when he is going back is aweasome, specially after a hard fight without mana.
when will we learn about summoner? i want to see necromancer gameplay.
On screen, wearing armor, the races don't appear distinguishable.
I really hope AoC will have fully voiced NPC dialog. Not just the greeting when you click them. Nothing brings world alive than hearing NPCs talk. It's one of the few things that make FFXIV appear a tad dated. ESO is miles ahead on this front.
If a node is destroyed, will player reputation reset for that node?
Steven is a clicker say it ain't so Great video as always, really hyped for Alpha 2. Much love
Is it still possible to get in on the alpha for this thing?
That is by far the BEST minotaur i think I've ever seen in an MMORPG! You could even see his chiseled ABS! 😅
Man this game looks phenomenal for pre alpha 2! I cannot wait to test it out myself.
I have a question for the next stream. What races can we expect when we eventually gain access to the character creator Pre-Alpha 2? Also, will we be able to save those characters to load up when Alpha 2 begins?
How long I’ll have to wait for this game? I’m preparing a new PC for it 😊
how about the people who are not from USA and bought the access to the alpha 2, is that a problem ? I am from Brazil and like a lot of your content. Thank you
commissions are basically quests from a board right?
It feels weird to me that the lanterns are lit in the daytime, Ashes of Creation can you set them to light at dusk and turn them off at dawn?
Loving how AoC is shaping
The game looks great. im excited again... let's gooo
Look great, I don't know if they already talked about it, but I hope they don't remove hair when using any head gear
Is this game like vrising or valheim or something where u have to join a server and start building stuff and then gets server wipe or is it like albion online or runescape type of mmo where everyones just in 1 server
Ragnarok was my favourite mmorpg. Hope you do any of their success formula. Pretty Please
-Freaking good BGM
-Difficulty
-Skills matter, are distinct and matter from the beggining
-Rare Items from nearly any monster with huge impact on either cosmetic or Skill Basis
hey
i rly believe in our game and would love go invis in bushes or sth. its a good way to play stealth more intuitiv specially in combination of line of sight
i will start playing end of year with u!!!
Magneto , Game is looking awesome.
it would be nice to have some environmental effects alla baldurs gate 3, for example, lightning and the mobs are on water ?, then it spreads to all nearby ....
I want to be a PvP Healer but that Mage looks fun!
Will it be feasible to have multiple characters at maximum capacity?
You need to wait and see how Augments will work, maybe you can do an mixed heal/mage, augments will be an second class that will to influence your primary class but still work in progress
There will be a comfortable number of character slots for alts.
If rewards from open world events like these are valuable in endgame then it'll be hotspots for team pvp in open world. Interesting to see how that unfolds.
Hi, you can add card games inside the game. Add pets so that gladiator fights between pets would be held. I think it will be interesting
When it’s raining the distant landscapes should be obscured with fog and rain etc
Would be cool if the Stormcaller actually got buffed when he gets hit by a lightning bolt would make more sense for the character.
Can't wait to watch my grand kids playing this game on 2040
When is the lighting update?
Who care’s the game isn’t even out yet, they’ve already addressed it what’s the use in bringing it up ?
@@Snack_Foods I was just excited about it. I will play this game no matter what it looks like lol :D
