I actually missed this videos few weeks ago. After watching more than 50 times before playing all the videos you posted on different websites about modern foot work, I definitly improve my game. I recently have back some troubles with my walking step. I noticed on court last time that my walking step was too lateral (it was more an open stance with one step added) . This video reminds me back that the modern footwrok is a penetrating concept.... thanks Yann. still waiting for you net play videos.
Hello Steve the walking step applies the same weight transfer concepts as our walk. If you are a right handed player, you would load your weight on your right foot and then as you hit take a recovery step with your left foot. The weight transfer comes from the stride momentum shift. Hope this helps and happy holidays.
Great request Andy, we will add this to our list of videos to film. and yes you will find yourself mixing the two steps quite a bit as it becomes more natural, your body will automatically pick the soundest step for each shot. Show your legs the options and your brain will take over. Cheers
My understanding is that during the forehand, the body weight should shift from the back foot to the front foot. The student in this video does not seem to have that concept. Are you trying to teach that the weight should shift from the back foot to the front foot during the walking step?

Anytime, keep up the good work
Serious question for Yann: why do you wear your socks like that? I am quite serious.
Because when you teach footwork, you want to bring attention to your feet. From all the comments about the socks, it obviously hit its mark.
