      That’s where they come from but I might if the weather goes bad! Great idea. Ps: this is an addiction. It’s a fun revolver. Thanks

    I bought a Uberti Pocket Navy about 3 years ago from a local gun store. I shoot 15 gr. out of my '51 so l loaded that in the '62. I was shooting at 7 yds. (That's where everyone at the range was shooting) and tore the center out of the target with several cylinder fulls. As l recall, l was aiming at 6 'o'clock on the bullseye. That was with my own cast round ball. I have a Lee conical mold for the .36 and it shot those 6" high and 6" to the left. My '51 Navy loves those conicals. I love shooting the black powder revolvers, but hate cleaning them, that is why l only take one per shooting session. Takes me an hour to clean one because l take it completely apart. I know some don't, but l do.

      I’m gonna try 15. This shot well in the video. I load 18-20 gr in my 51 and 61 navies. I hear you on cleaning. I don’t tear all down everytime but only if I’m gonna shoot it again soon. If it’s going to sit a month I’ll tear it down every time. Thanks. The black powder shooting is fun indeed. But there’s a lot that goes with it.

    Slixshot nipples and Remington No10s are the bee's knees for the pocket models and then some, that's for sure. 👍

    For accurate and sure shot with NO cap jams on these 5 shots use 12 or 15 gr. Black with the cylinder filled rest of the way with corn grit from under the corn drier at the elevator , this works I have been doing this for years and is a re reliable way too load , this is pure good feelings for these favorites 😍 ❤

    I’ve been shooting BP revolvers for almost 40 years. I’ve found that stronger hammer springs on the Italian guns seems to stop cap jams. I measured several original colt BP revolvers and they have a heavier hammer spring than modern reproduction versions. The tapered and heavier spring helps eliminate blow back and keeps the cap in place until the cylinder rotates

      I agree with you. I’m actually thinking about two main springs. I have friends that’s worked for!

    Nice demo, I have the Uberti 1862 pocket police and also went through the cap jam issue a dni also swapped out the stock nipples with Slixshots and had to many failure to detonate the rounds, turns out they were .020 to short, so I ordered the Treso ampco nipples and they work great, it’s a fun little revolver

    • @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb
      @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb  6 месяцев назад

      I’ve never heard that with slix shot. That’s too bad. They fixed my pocket police and hopefully this one too. I’ve been tempted to try fresco so maybe I will soon. Thanks man. They are fun little shooters indeed.

    • @DeucesWildRC
      @DeucesWildRC 6 месяцев назад +1

      I might have got a bad batch of slixshots that time I guess, I took my calipers and measured the difference between the factory nipples and the Slixshot nipples and found out why the weren’t working as good as the stock ones, normally they’re the cure for cap jams, the slixshots I put on my 51 Navy work perfect though, I got the Treso/ampco nipples through Taylor’s & Company, they have a smaller touch hole and decreases the back pressure to the hammer face upon detonation, it also helps having a stronger hammer spring to keep the blow back in check

    • @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb
      @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb  6 месяцев назад

      @DeucesWildRC it sounds like a bad batch cause I’ve had good luck with them too. It the nipples don’t do it well enough I will maybe put on a second main spring. I buy parts from Taylor’s I’ll look at the nipples.

    • @DeucesWildRC
      @DeucesWildRC 6 месяцев назад +1

      I also tried the extra main spring like Mark Hobs from eras gone did, the only problem is it makes it uncomfortable to shoot after a while, kinda digs into your thumb but it’s still a sweet little 5 shot revolver

    Hey man I just found your channel and definitely like what I see, this video is of particular interest to me since I have an Urberti pocket navy and it quickly became my favorite revolver. I really don't know for sure why but now I have this almost overwhelming urge to add an 1849 pocket in 31 caliber, there is just something about that little short barreled model that I just can't resist!
    I see some of the other commenters have expressed an interest in a video covering the pistols behind you and I wholeheartedly agree that would be very interesting indeed.

      Hey! I’m glad you found me and like it so far. So here’s what’s funny..since I did that pocket video I added a 49 pocket in 31 cal! Shot it once so far and LOVE IT! Pretty darned accurate. I’ll be doing something on it soon but I’m liking the short barrels more and more! I’m going to do that vid on my collection very soon! Thanks brother!

    Great video J always a joy to watch you shooting. I also notice the high volume of cap jams with these pocket pistols, I have a 49 pocket and also the new model police, which I have switched out the nipples to slixshot nipples as well. Also, I got a second hammer spring and cut it down 2/3 the size and installed it underneath the original hammer spring and now cap jams on my new model police are just about nonexistent, and it did not make the hammer pull too hard. It’s actually perfect now. These pocket sized revolvers are a lot of fun to shoot aren’t they? 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
    Thank you for making another video………….

    So I own a 1849 pocket. I have to admit I like the 49, over the Remington 1863 pocket. It's not often that I say I prefer the replica colt over a replica Remington, however it is what it is. There is two Remingtons I want to add to my collection, and three colts. Colts are the 3rd model Dragoon, 1860 army, and the round barreled version which I believe is the 61 pocket. I own 10 Remingtons so what is left, the 1875, and the 1890.
    Did you by chance see the last two videos of my custom project?

      @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb  6 месяцев назад

      I’ve never shot the rem pocket but haven’t heard good about it. I think the round barrel colt you’re talking about is the 62 pocket police. It’s a shrunk 1860 army in 36 cal. Where do I find your videos? I’ll watch right away.

      @CapBallFanatic-gb3jb yes the colt I'm referring to does look like a small army. My channel is my icon.

    I used to bow hunt, and always hated the heaviness of compound bows. Then a guy let me shoot his bow which was a lot lighter than mine and I couldn’t hold it on target. It was like it just wanted to float all over the place.
    I can see where changing from full size c&b pistols to the pocket versions would have a similar affect
