I’m also a cowash type of girl. I’m very minimalistic with my curly hair routine.
I cowash, condition and leave some in and go over with a good gel on wet hair. My hair last 3-4 days so like you I wash my hair more than once a week. I also don’t use oils or butters and I stick to 1 brand (Briogeo) and they’re a quality haircare brand with no bad ingredients.
If I desire a deeper clean, I’ll use their curl shampoo maybe once a season.

oh my gosh, bless you for including the disclaimer that shampooing may be beneficial for some because that made me feel so relieved. I was starting to feel bad about shampooing my hair but it's only because I'm trying to resolve the scalp issues I've been having and the shampoo I have is tailored to address that. Still wanna work on balancing when I shampoo versus cowash but also wanna make sure I still get my scalp issues addressed when not shampooing

My current problem is how long my wash n gos last, so I've been considering co-washing mid week for a curl refresh but was a bit apprehensive about washing my hair more than once a week. You've sold me on at least 3 of the products, if not all of them! Thank you x

I like co-washes for a in the week refresh and for detangling mainly. I personally love shampoos! They are essential for me. I use products with oils and I layer different products onto my hair & it's pretty thick so I HAVE to have a clean slate. Clean hair is super important when trying new products and for getting the best out of deep conditioning as well! I so agree with not using silicones consistently, it makes it sooo much harder to keep your curls fresh.

The Rose Milk has no surfactant, which is a cleaning agent. I prefer the Citrus one (Norelli) it comes with white and orange packaging. It cleans very well and is quite softening to the hair. If I’m gonna use a cowash I still need it to cleanse. This one does it all, but it’s not as slippery as the Rose, but for me more importantly it cleanses as well as conditions, you may not even need a conditioner or deep conditioner afterwards, it’s that good. I just got my Curlsmith cowash, can’t wait to try it.

At the end of the day, if a method is working very well for you, keep doing it. Still, the whole idea that sulfate shampoos are bad because it's harsh makes no sense. That's the whole point of shampooing, lol. Besides you're going to be using conditioner right after, probably a deep conditioner. So there would be nothing wrong with using a clarifier from time to time, depending on your buildup from the products you use. Clarifying is very important too, having completely clean curls before you start applying products will actually help your hair curl more since nothing is slowing down water from moisturizing your hair properly.

Greetings...After watching your videos last week, I have ordered just about all the CurlSmith Blue line. I only have the orange Cowash. I've used the Detox treatment, absolutely amazing. My scalp has NEVER felt so clean and happy. I don't want to put anything on my scalp. I love the umm... I am relaxing on my patio watching your videos on my tablet and don't feel like going in to get the name of this product, but it's the one in the tube that you put on your hair prior to applying the Flexi Jelly. I have just about all the Blue Line products. I'm waiting for several items in the Orange line to be delivered. I do have the cowash.
I am so happy to have come across your videos. The Detox is amazing...amazing isn't strong enough to truly describe what it does to the scalp and hair.
What great products CurlSmith has developed. You can't go wrong with any of it. It's definitely worth the investment 😉😍💕

Great video! I love cowashing also and I wash my hair every 3-4 days. Shampoos dry out my hair sadly even the moisturizing ones but I use them occasionally to ensure I don't get buildup. My favorites are the matrix biolage cowash for curly hair now discontinued and the oyin gingermint cowash.

I've never tried a cowash. I like a deep cleanse, but I recently got the Camille Rose Naturals Neroli Blossom Cleansing Milk, because I find myself wanting/needing to wash my hair before 7 days (I can push it to about every 5 days). Now I can wash my hair twice a week and use the cows between shampooing.

Have you tried clay cleansers or Soultanicals butta shampoos? I feel like those are a great alternative because it’s nowhere near stripping and it’s moisturizing as well. The butta shampoos doesn’t have the same consistency as regular shampoos and actually feels like a cowash. I also recommend Chocolate Kinks and Kurls.

Omg I cowash as well with the as I am cowash and have been for like 5 months because I was tired of every shampoo matting my hair ( I have heat damage so I have different textures) and shampooing is the worst for me. I do prepoo with the Africans pride product instead and then go in with my cowash if I feel like I need to

  • @jordannalease6294
    @jordannalease6294 3 года назад +5

You can still damage your hair by washing it too much even if you're using cowash and no sulfates. You can get moisture overload and hygral fatigue and really ruin your hair. It can make your hair unbalanced and lack adequate protein. It really can harm your cuticle and make your hair lose elasticity and break off. I like co-washes when my hair doesn't have a lot of product, I want to switch my style during the week or need a moisture boost but I still make sure I clarify at least once a month because our hair can build up with products, pollutants from the environment, minerals from the water we use, etc. We can accumulate build-up without even noticing it. My fave cowashes are As I am original and the tea tree and olive one, as well as Oyin Ginger mint (:

Uncle Funky had a really good co wash. I wash weekly with a non sulfate shampoo and I co wash midweek (depending on how my hair is styled). Once a month (depending on my build up if any) I'll use a sulfate shampoo. Too much co washing makes my scalp itchy.

My hair is fairly thin and I’m contemplating doing the big chop and just starting over. Kinda scared 😟 of how my hair will look or if it will curl the same. I’ve seen people do the big chop and afterwards their hair looks more like an Afro rather than having curls. Any suggestions are appreciated ❣️

I want to know that too! I have been using henna, ayurvedic herbs, and tea rinses to combat that. Try a green tea rinse, that should really help with hair loss. Still curious about more washing equaling less breakage.

I co wash my hair everyday. I have low porosity 3c4a hair.. and I use to have so much breakage and hair shedding when I would wash my hair. But when I started cowashing daily.. my hair is never dry and always moisturized, i have no breakage at all and shedding is very very minimal. I still shampoo and deep condition my hair once a week.. but my hair needs moisture so water everyday along with the cowash gives it what it needs.
