Heather, it is not the length or difficulty of the hike that counts, it is the beauty you find along the way. Beauty surrounds us in nature regardless of if we are 100 yards from the car or 25 miles into the back country, Leslie and I enjoy photographing common everyday things in nature that most folks walk past and we then enjoy sharing those photos bringing a little "outside inside" to our friends and folks who cannot get out and do what we do. You and Phil are like Leslie and I, you share a common love for nature and a common appreciation for things that are beautiful. Enjoy your trip.
My work carried me to Edmonton, Canada back in the late 90’s. We were setting up Auto parts warehouses and stores for NAPA. I spent about 45 days there. On the weekends I traveled to this lake with one of my work associates. We rented a Canoe and went to the ice glacier then got out and walked out on the ice. On the way my work associate told me to be careful if I tipped the Canoe we would freeze to death before we reached the shore. I don’t know how cold the water was but it was about 17 degrees that morning. I have been watching all your Canada videos and we went to every place you have been to. We should talk sometime. I got pictures and some great stories about my trip. Your videos have given me some great memories. Thank you so much.
Thank you! If you had asked me three years ago, if I was ever going to go to the Canadian Rockies, I probably would have said no. I’m very excited that we got to go. Thanks for watching!
Wow, just wow - what a beautiful area. Thank you for sharing that wonder journey and beautiful area with us. My wife and I watched in the morning before I went out. Simply.... WOW.!! 🙏🤗💖
Went to RMNP last year to photograph elk, moose and bighorn. But was also enamored with those magpies and stellar jays! You just a take the birder out of me! Beautiful work Phil!
I saw one stellar’s J on the morning that I made this video but was unable to get a photograph of it. By the time I switched to my 100-500 it was gone. Thank you!
I just loved the end where Heather is videoing you taking pictures of the Magpies! You guys sound just like a married couple...lol. And I loved your puffy coats, I am going to have to look into getting something like one of those, they looked like they would help to keep you warm but would also pack down pretty small if you were traveling. Fun Video.
@@k26kv31 thank you! Every once in a while, Heather will just make a clip with her iPhone that is too good to not be included in whatever video it is I’m working on at the time. I always appreciate it when she does that. We were both wearing Patagonia “nano puff” jackets. I also have one of their “micro puff” jackets. I like both styles of jackets, but the micro puff pockets are a little high on the torso for my tastes. Both of them use man-made filling and not real down. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the rest of the Canadian Rockies series.
Great shots Phil, glad you enjoyed the trip north here. The mountains in your shots are Castle Mountain (your along the highway shot with the lightposts), and Mount Rundle (the sharper peaked one that is near Banff). Looking forward to more videos!
Beautiful shots! I prefer the warmer shot and love the photo with the boat house on Lake Louise. Nice photos of the magpies. I drove the Icefields Parkway October 2023 and definitely will plan a trip to go back to take more photos of such a beautiful place. Peyto Lake, Moraine Lake, and Lake Louise are all breathtaking!! Thanks for sharing videos and photos of your trip. Did you go to Athabasca Falls?
Lots of great memories for me there. Shocking to see how the crowds have grown, and " Parking Fees".....never. Times have changed, but the beauty of the place has not.
@@danwilliams5335 the crowds weren’t bad in most places, but at the two most famous lakes, it was a little excessive. Crowds don’t bother me much though so I was fine.
nice shots , i like to look at Tomas Heaton to , sinds Simon went to IJsland for polar bears , magpie,s live in my garden , for me thatch like a common bird , the mountain in the reflection on the lake is amazing 👍

@@ilesmic we are hoping to go back for our fifth anniversary. We did go to Moraine Lake and stayed at the lodge there for two nights. That will be my final video from our Canada trip. Stay tuned!
Got some nice shots there Phil. But the whole line up with a million other photographers thing? Well, you got a hell of a lot more patience than me 😂 The countryside there looks beautiful
Thank you! It’s not so bad. There’s really only two places where you have to deal with a lot of other photographers and of course I did both of those but at several of the places I made photographs, I was all by myself on this trip. Stay tuned!
Good video Phil. Those magpies must be a British requirement since Canada is still tied to the crown. Magpies are all over the place in the UK. There may be a few in the US but I’ve never seen one here. Now that I think about it I don’t think I’ve seen one in mainland Europe either. The English have a superstition about seeing a magpie. You are supposed to salute them or something. 🤷🏻♂️
