What everyone is missing is how the match up would be officiated. The 04’ Pistons were one of the last champions in the more physical era of basketball. If they are matching up and playing under the “old rules” so to speak, then I think the pistons were WAY too physical, both defensively and offensively, for the warriors. On the other hand, if we are playing under the new rules which don’t allow much physicality and gives the offensive player a clear advantage, then obviously the warriors would win that. Aside for that, it’s clear a lot of y’all just became fans of the NBA in like 2016. I respect Steph and the warriors but this new brand of basketball is essentially a 3pt shooting contest. What everyone will come to find is that, taking the defensive, mid range and some of the athleticism out of the game will make a weaker product long term.
If going by the old rules, the physicality goes both ways. Also the physicality is over exaggerated. In either rule set Warriors would smack Pistons due to being too potent on offense AND also being a great defensive team whereas Pistons couldn't even score 100 points
That’s the thing a lot of people miss. The Warriors were adept at scoring at all 3 levels. Klay was the only person who pretty much lived and died by the 3 but Steph got a ton of layups. KD and Livingston lived in the midrange and iggy attacked as well.
The rules wouldn’t even matter in this matchup, because how Detroit played during that championship run defensively, they also never played against a team that was so potent on offense it’s basically a pick your poison. How Detroit played defensively wouldn’t work against the 17’ Warriors due to how much spacing they create especially with Steph, Klay, and KD on the floor at the same time. Detroit played below the 3pt line defensively and you can’t play that way against the Warriors, if they do it’s gonna be open shots all day. Like Draymond eluded to, the Warriors made their defense style EXTINCT !

Also, McDyess was on those teams after 04 and he to me was their best bench player during that whole run from 2004-2008 with no disrespect to Lindsey Hunter or Mehmet Okur. The key difference was the coaching change. Flip Saunders is just simply not on Larry Brown’s level.
That Dubs roster was stacked and will never be duplicated...Us die hard Dubs fans that went to all those games enjoyed the hell out of it.. True story..
GS matches up with Detroit very well. I agree with Wallace that the series would be a tough series. And understand why he feels HIS team would win. But Green is correct GS would destroy Detroit. Now if we are Kerr. Why would we put 6’6 Green on a 6’11 Wallace who’s a known offensive force,mid-range,3’s,turn arounds, fades, dunks, the works. Even as our best defender. If Kerr is smart he places Green his best team defender along with Iggy on Ben Wallace and let them tough it out in the post, battling on defense. Saving his energy for controlling the tempo of the O as the guard-forward. Every other matchup in our estimation goes to GS, including Billups vs Curry which would also be a touch back and fourth matchup offensively. With the edge going to GS because of Curry’s skill and unlimited shooting range. It wouldn’t be easy, but lets get real. Those first 3 GS teams were incredible !! Including the ones with Harrison Barnes,Speights,David Lee,Bogut,Barbosa,Livingston,David West etc.
@@gabsanchez agree. when we say back and fourth. It won't be cookies and cream for curry having to guard Billups. Although Billups scored 17ppg. They lost because KD and Klay were injured, and now tell me was the 17 warriors that lost to the raptors? No it was the 19, and even that raptors team would win in 6 against the 04 pistons
man i love that 04 pistons team thats my team..but when dray said those final scores 78-69 74-62..that hits that spot..he spoke truth..that was the 04 pistons lacking..offensive firepower..and that 2017 warriors was loaded with that.

@@SickoRed722004 Pistons are allowed to handcheck with zone defense.. 2017 Warriors aren’t allowed to handcheck.. We saw how Curry struggled vs physicality

@@Cakebattered From a record standpoint that was technically their best team as they won 64 games. Also, McDyess was on those teams after 04 and he to me was their best bench player during that whole run from 2004-2008 with no disrespect to Lindsey Hunter or Mehmet Okur.
It won't be a back and forth between billups and curry. 04 billups was a 17ppg player. Curry's dropping 40 on billups
@@gabsanchez agree. when we say back and fourth. It won't be cookies and cream for curry having to guard Billups. Although Billups scored 17ppg. @ericshyaka nobody plays "one on one defense" but you don't have a choice when it comes to ISO plays. Like Draymond said in the video, they would pick on Sheed on defense because Draymond thinks he's too slow footed to keep up.

Sheed and Draymond both make credible points...You can't compare eras, it's always gonna be holes in both arguments. What you CAN judge is what a team did during it's era. The Warriors were more successful during their era.
Yes because they recruited a prime KD. Come on man 😂
My point still stands, you can't compare eras realistically. What happened is what happened for whatever reason. I agree with what you're saying, but it doesn't negate my point.
Honestly the reason why the Lakers lost that year was because of their internal fueding. Pistons took complete advantage of it. Kobe wanted to prove that it was his team n not Shaqs n Shaq didn't get the feeds he was supposed to...
