Midnight Bus
(John D. Loudermilk)
Australia 1961
John D. Loudermilk Quote--
In my hometown of Durham, the Midnight Bus, that's the way the kids used to elope. Now back before everybody had a car and those who either got pregnant or wanted to get married early, they just got on the bus and went down to South Carolina 'cause you could marry at 14 down there. So they'd get on the bus and get married and come back, the next day to tell all their friends, "Look, we're married, ha ha!" Видеоклипы
My primary school friend’s favourite song way back when. Memories ❤

a great australian classic
Knew Betty when i lived in Brisbane...Think she came from around the Nundah area...The late 1950s was about when i knew Betty...When i turned 20 i went to Melbourne, that would have been 1961...Met Betty at the Mordialloc Surf Club at the dance and also again at a hall in Mordialloc at another dance...Betty remembered me from Brisbane...Did Betty ever sing at the venues in Nundah...RIP..Betty....Paul L Romaine...Ex..Clayfield...Brisbane...Spent a lot of my time at the Ohio Cafe in Clayfield Tram Terminus...Used to watch on a weekend some scrawny kids with guitars get off the tram and walk down Sandgate Road...Yes they were the Bee Gees...
So many great Australian artists from the 60's & 70's have left us over recent years. Thanks to these vinyls they live on. Thanks for posting.

So sad to hear about Betty - the bus really has departed. A real loss. I saw her at Moorabbin Town Hall about seven years ago with the Allstars. Fantastic!

This was a great Loudermilk song - his version is great. But this is different and a fantastic production. It goes to show what great singing and production talent was around in Australia at the time.
this great ,unlike the typical stuff.
I remember this from when it came out.
Betty McQuade also did a nice cover of Wanda Jackson's 'Tongue Tied'
