In fact, the Ismailis seem to have been a particular target of his wrath, since Mahmud (and his nominal overlord, the Abbasid caliph) considered them heretics. Mahmud of Ghazni plundered the Hindu temple towns because a lot of wealth was stored in the temples. He took away the booty from the temples to build a magnificent capital in Ghazni.

First he raided the plains like a thief then after the loss of rajput kingdom he established strong foothold here. But did u know what he did to ur forefathers here read that too. His army took your grandmother's as a price for victory forced converted them and now after generations ur born. So islam may not permit all these but these kings were full of deceit and they would modify islam as per their needs! Also remember ghori was the biggest cheater in his whole life.
