I changed my alternator by watching this video. It didn't come out that easy, I had to pry it out and pry it back in. Yeay !!!!! Saved $600 . Thanks Jack.
Brilliant video Jack, just done mine today follow your very easy instructions! Only thing I struggled with was to slide the new alternator in but some grease sorted that out straight away
Hi Jack, Thank you heaps I watched your video several times, I have to say that I just fixed my Son's car after it had been off road for 2 weeks as he could not afford the $2000 bill the crooks at a shop in ACT Australia had quoted him. Our V40 had a Metric 14 mm nut to release the tension and my God that was tough to turn sufficiently to get the new belt on it took two people one with a bar on the spanner forcing with all might whilst I got under the car to loop the last part of belt on. The best part of your video was how to remove the Alternator after removing the water pump and loosening the Power steering, it was literally 30 Secs following how you did it All up the new Belt and Replacement alternator was $400 and my time to fit so you saved my boy $2000 it cost me 400 but what are Dad's for. Merry Christmas 2017
Thanks I just needed the bit to loosen the tensioner to put a new belt. Most other videos have the T bit socket but I have the bolt on the pulley. So obvious and yet Fkd my head up .
Thank you very much for sharing this helpful video-instruction to perform this job,but I have a question, where did you get the instructions?you showed some fotos of the instructions,is it a service manual or how did you get'em?because if it is a book I would like to get on of those;thank you!!
Apologies in advance but I didn't have audio or subs when I watched (and I admit, I watched in 2x speed). Do you **have** to remove the pulley parts to change just the alternator?
Hi mate, in an unrelated subject to the video above, would you by any chance know what is the Black Plastic container attached to the wiper tank is for? You can easly have a visiual on it if you remove the Driver side/Right side indicator front light. It is Cylindrical and has two rubber pipes attached to it on the top. One of those pipes in my Car were loose and it smelled petrol al over it. I am just wondering what does it do exactly. Thanks!
It's the evaporator carbon cannister. Part of the evap system. I believe it collects and filters fuel fumes from the oil sump and return them to the inlet manifold so the get burned again. It has to due to emission regulation.
can i ask where you got those instructions from? Is there a place i could print them myself.. I got a very bad sound coming from either the alternator or the servo pump so I will need to do this soon.
The instructions are from Alldatadiy.com This is a subscription site but well worth it. The main issues people have is getting the alternator out of the hole. This is where the video is helpful.
