Love seeing the trails I visit so often featured in a Salomon video! For those questioning the timing of the attempt, from my understanding, Francois has to be at his vineyards in France until late September so this was the window they had for the attempt. I have done big stretches of the trail north of Rainy Pass with no issues in mid to late October and my first time doing Section J was in mid-November of 2016. But I have also been shutdown in late September due to snow. You hope for the best and see what Nature deals you. Still a huge accomplishment to travel from Harts Pass to Cathedral Pass in those conditions!
It’s like seeing a good buddy featured in a Salomon video “Hey! I know that spot!” Or like seeing the NW legend Stuke in the comments section of RUclips 😀
This is awesome. So glad you made this video, even though it didn't work out like you planned. I live in Washington and this exact route has been one of my goals for years! Thanks for inspiring.
This is a hard enough challenge in the Summer for an FKT. Great attitudes and humility. The Cascades do not have favorites and will absolutely lose the trail in that snow. Walmsley in Salomon video. Not sure how Hoka feels about that.
mid-late September is probably the best time for an FKT attempt in the Pacific North West. Snow is almost a given in the first week or two of October but sometimes you get lucky. Sad you didn't but great effort though!
As a native of the Cascades who grew up in the backcountry, this one falls hard into the *WTF* category. Every PNW hiker and adventure-type knows full well that the WA leg of the PCT -- especially the North Cascades -- VERY quickly become impassible once the snow flies. Perhaps these gents should have considered a few quick comms with any number of different local resources to sanity check the idea *before* they headed west. (Mountaineers, WAC, etc.) It would have saved both their time and (Salomon's) money.
Love it, love it, love it!!! As a Mainland Chinese, thrilled to know Salomon is now owned by Anta of China #MadeInChina2025 #BeltAndRoad #BeijingOlympics2022 #OccupyMars2024
They're crazy trying to do that with little safety net that late in the year, it rains/snows a bunch in the fall in Washington state, I know I live there.
Great attempt, great video! Most of these are so long it puts a lot of people off watching. You captured the challenge and camaraderie they experienced, and hopefully it'll turn more runners on to ultra running!
this should have been in a documentary format and made more engaging. less titillation and more substance. should have been at least 1 hour of footage....
@@irunovermountains nah, it's more about titillation. plenty of footage to make this really engaging. with Francoise it could have easily been over an hour, easily.
@@torceridaho My point was more that this trip was cut short and didn't go to plan, so likely the reason the film isn't to the same depth as previous FD films, such as the GR20
Why do they wear the slab ultra 2 rather than the 3 ? Imo a few vulgar worlds that could’ve been avoided.. super nice video and project !! Thanks a lot
I love seeing videos like this at I time that I'm unable to travel as much. It's food for the soul.

its okay to just do it and not spray it all over RUclips brah. just do it.

jim’s accent was perfect
😂
"One day-i of avy rain, one day-i of avy snow."
:))
Vous avez le plus pur accent français possible je pense.
Toujours cool de vous suivre et très belle performance :)
Do you know who the Backpacking guy from the UK was? And whether he makes it?
I’m also British, his attitude to the situation was so British, made me smile.
@@leemussell8377 I thought the same too. Also me being a Brit.
This is awesome! Love it. Also hilarious when you go from showing shots of Mt Rainer to all of the sudden you're at the WA/OR border.

He’s a beast!! We should all buy some wine from him too!
Thank you for sharing Pacific crest trail
Great video, great team, great François, cool to see Jim with them.
Great to see Jim with you!!
Salomon + Hoka = ❤️
This was much needed food to fuel winter trail running!
We hear ya! 👌

@@Kevin-sy8uf :')
lol that was clever editing
I am too old to run like that anymore but I would have gone south to north, hitting Washington in late Aug. Yes, the northwest is amazing!
What a great video! Thank you 😊
we need a Salomon Trail documentary !!
Sublime and breathtaking!
Glad you liked it! 😁
beautiful video, music is perfect
ah, just seen it's Max Romey, love that guy :)

Clearly amazing physical ability and balls-of-steel can't make up for just a bit of research and humility. Bevenue a America mon freres!

I don’t think you can enjoy All that nature has to offer us this way... but my respects
Bonjour. Ce serait vraiment cool de savoir quel fut son equipement tout au long de la traversée 😉
Does anyone know the exact start and end dates?
Great attempt, great video! Most of these are so long it puts a lot of people off watching. You captured the challenge and camaraderie they experienced, and hopefully it'll turn more runners on to ultra running!
13 minutes is long?
September is the best month for WA PCT.
you know its way too crowded when Solomon starts pimping the long trails on RUclips.
😅
Awesome!
😂 Jim at 10:43
Keep featherin' it brother
Please name music 0.30
What first layer francois used ? thanks @salomon
Природа и люди замечательные на треке ..
Soweit ich weiß, heißt das Pacific Crest Trail und nicht "Brest" :-)
a bit sad. it is too short and less engaging. but Jim in Salomon footage!
How is it that EVERY ultra runner is among the nicest people in the world?!
I'd like to join the community just to join the community :)
I thought there are bears?
Strong start: 1:52 “it’s a fucking long way” 😂👍

The trip was cut short, otherwise it was likely the plan to do this to the standard of their previous films.

No because they got snowed out and had not much more to show.
More footage, less interviews
Got it. 😉

The automatic pot postoperatively whisper because peace conservatively remember afore a motionless letter. cloudy, acid eye
he's rôti because françois is a whinemaker
So you start the movie with "they are fucked" ? It must be an awesome movie, but no thanks. I gave it "thumbs down"
