@@lux6961 Yes, there is. This is it. Things like shock collars make your dog more stressed and less likely to listen to you. If you hurt your dog while training them, all you're doing is making them scared of you and more likely to act out. Harsh punishments are cruel and unnecessary when things like clickers and treats exist. Dogs are smart. They know when they've done something right when dogs are given treats and toys, and when they've done something wrong when all they get is told off.
Chelsie Claire We use a shock collar only when we have company over, and we never actually use the shock button. We kept the shock at a very low rate and pressed it to let him know that there was a slight vibration when it beeped, so now all we have to do it let the remote make the sound without vibrating and he calms down. We only use it when company’s around because he can get way way too excited. Other than doing this, a shock collar shouldn’t be used regularly or for all training
Marley and Me tramatized me as kid when Marley was put down I didn't know why he fell asleep my dad had to explain it to me ( I was 8 years old when it came out )
My parents thought Marley and Me was going to be a cute dog movie, so we watched it three days after we had to put our year old lab Rockie down due to health issues (my dad found her abandoned when she was about three months old). Yeah, very bad mistake! My brother and I bawled our eyes out (I was 14 and he was 11 at the time).
Robert Schlesinger I just got a puppy a few weeks ago and have been heavily training commands. My pup is 12 weeks and knows sit, down, stay, leave it, “off”, and spin and is only getting better! Isn’t it amazing how convincing dogs’ eyes are? They pierce the soul and I can’t resist. I don’t feel the same power when an adult or child actor try... lol
I’ve watched the Animal Actors show at Universal so many times but it still blows me away seeing the tricks they can do. I can’t even get my dog to come on command.
All our dogs were trained to follow hand signals, we started them with both vocal and hand commands but by the time they were fully trained you could make a certain hand sign and they would know what action to do and then do it. Dogs are incredibly smart and can learn tons of different words, signs and commands

Clicker training is really efficient if done correctly and your timing is right on. I trained my Sheltie to fetch and sniff scent articles using clicker training and clicker shaping. It is operant training (think Pavlov's dog), and is scientifically-based.

They deserve all those treatos for being good boys and girls!

It depends, you can train a dog through different ways. Food, play, etc. my puppy learns faster through playing instead of treats.
