I have a copy of the original book printed in 1964; found it in my grandma's collection over 10yrs ago. When I read it in high school it was ridiculously amusing- I must watch this film version
I saw that too amd couldn't quite believe it at first. It's now my headcannon that 'The Mouse that Roared' takes place in the 'Doctor Who' universe! LOL.
Would this ever work as a remake? I mean, sure the Cold War is over, but the basic premise could work. The Grand Dutchy of Fenwick close to bankruptcy goes to war with America, headed for New York, only to land in a deserted town instead, capturing some Police men, a general, the doctor (and his daughter) and of course the Q Bomb!
I'm guessing movies in ye-olden-days before the internet had to rely on creativity? That sounds really weird, you'd think with the internet people would roast movies that are dumb,& as such directors would be forced to be good in order to make money.
I just watched a news broadcast that said a man and friends started a 1 Acre Country of their own based on this movie And the leader calls himself his excellency baugh. And he is serious Not satire like this movie.
The trailer editor really outdid themselves, because the film itself is... I give it 2 stars. It has a great concept and script, with great moments here and there, but the performances are best left for the trailers.
Today, Brazilian "president" Jair Bolsonaro has given a speech threatening to declare war on on US ("to solve it with gunpowder", as he said) if Joe Biden goes on with his words on "economic consequences" for Brazil if Amazon is not safe from fire and deforestation. His speech and this film are the biggest "Same Energy" meme the World has ever seen.

Given the Referendum results today I believe that we are remaking this movie in real life!
I think not. The launch window for such a movie is gone.
It is a lampoon of the Marshall Plan, not the Cold War.
Who’s here cause the president of molossia mentioned this film in yes theory’s vid😂
1:36 spoiler alert. THEY PUT SPOILERS IN THE TRAILERS AND IT'S NOT RIGHT.
this movie is quite brilliant. Jack Arnold was the man.
