Nice video, but the battery voltage should be raised up to 14.4v, then maintained at 13.8v. This is why the circuit cut the current while the battery was still charging and only got 12.9v. With some adjustment, the project is a good one since we also get a power supply.

    • @MrElectron
      @MrElectron  Год назад +6

I was hoping that someone will state this. Actually one of my battery cells is dead because of which it can go only to a max of 12.6V which is still enough to power up my inverter so I am not discarding it.
So, even if i use an 18v direct charging or 20v ( which is not at all advised ), it will still stabilize at 12.6 or 12.7v which is its maximum because one of its cells is dead.

can you trust this guy? Does he really know electronics - or is he just screwing around?
First he says its using an ATX PSU but at the very end he says he is using a microwave transformer.
Then he puts two 10A bridge rectifiers in parallel BUT even a novice knows this does not work [because the Vd are different].
Then his Mickey Mouse controller uses a puny relay which can not handle the stated current.
He does not explain the cntroller but it seems to be a simple cut-off; the charging current is not controlled and can be DANGEROUS.

Seems like people are confusing Amps (A) with Ampere hour (Ah). Here 150 Ah or 450 Ah is the battery capacity and not the amperes that this powersupply is going to produce.
A 150Ah battery can charge at just 2 Amps so 3 such batteries will need a minimum of 6 Amps to charge but here the charger is producing much more than that. Hope this solves the confusion.
Note : Set the voltage a little higher than the desired battery charge voltage. It will work great for Lead Acid , inverter, car batteries.

Query: Can you really trust this guy? Does he really know electronics - or is he just screwing around - buried in ignorance?
First he says its using an ATX PSU but at the very end he says he is using a microwave transformer.
Then he puts two 10A bridge rectifiers in parallel BUT even a novice knows this does not work [because the Vd are different].
Then his Mickey Mouse controller uses a puny relay which can not handle the stated current.
He does not explain the cntroller but it seems to be a simple cut-off; the charging current is not controlled and can be DANGEROUS.
I have read 4 recommedations from battery makers and many articles from creditable battery experts and they ALL say current must be controlled.

I just read a comment by him saying the transfomer is rated at 40A !!!! LMAO But the diode bidge is 10A and that play-time relay can handle no more than 6A DC. This is a JOKE from bizarre start to laughable finish

Well. From what can be seen, only the case of a PC power supply was used. The rest of the elements were added. I want to believe that the title is misconceived. In any case it would have to be; "adapted battery charger in a pc power supply case".🤦‍♂

nice project but i think it's better to connect the relay to the mains voltage not to 12v output so it gets less heated even u can use smaller one.
seems like alot of people don't understand the difference between 150AH and 150A, AH ampere-hour is used for the capacity of the battery.
