I have known Ron for many years and he still works like greased lightning. He has always got things done while most are still thinking where to start.
Surprised you flipped over onto the open side door 😳 Flipping it over certainly shook up the dirt & crap inside 👍
Absolutely in awe of Ron’s knowledge… of the Grant, Australian armour, and tank flipping! Mind you, the fact those wheels still turned after nearly 80 years is also amazing! Looking forward to more!
If only Mastermind was still on TV....his chosen area of specialty would have him a definite winner!
Only problem is that Ron would have to write the odd and obscure questions too.
Win win for Ron!
@@johnnewman366 haha, indeed
Another fantastic workshop Wednesday
Nice to see a reccy mech back at it in an ARV(M). Made for each other!
Living on the Mid North Coast of NSW, 1 day I was headed into Kempsey from home, and I saw one of the semi's on the Hwy heading North.
We were at the Tank Museum about 9 weeks ago and I chatted to Jason about it. He is a top guy.
The staff do an amazing job, we will be back.
Its amazing when you can see this stuff in person.... I passed a Chevy pickup truck ( around 2003) coming from lake Tahoe on my way to Reno... I saw the old black and yellow license plates that read BELLX1 on it but seeing Chuck Yeager driving it was a shock.....
I love this channel !!! The only problem is,it is over too fast…… I can’t wait until next week. See you then😊
I’ve now realise that the music is a problem. It means this week’s episode is about to finish. Don’t want each episode to end!! I do not look forward to the music!! 😮😢😅😊
Change the playback speed to 0.5 x
@@Rusty_Gold85 great idea!!!
I love watching people excelling at very niche knowledge or rare skills
Ron...love that guy. I'd enjoy watching all these old guys sit around drinking beers and telling sea stories. Thanks Ron for your hard work.
I believe Ron was in the army. Stories about the sea would be few. I cannot speak for the other gentlemen.
@@bebo4807 Yes. "Sea Stories" was meant as generic thing. I should have said "war stories" or "swap lies" lol
Terrific. I am lucky enough to have visited Ron and been for a ride in a couple of his Stuarts. 👍
I really started watching this channel because of this series of videos on the Barn Find. One time the RUclips algorithm did good.
Rons knowledge of the Grant tanks is extraordinary. Enjoyed watching masters at work. Ty for sharing
Geez, he knows his Grant tanks, another interesting video 👍
Ron's Grant knowledge is simply jaw dropping...
"Wonder whats livin in there?"😆 - Pretty serious question in Oz I guess....
Ya have to love it when a pro picks up a rusted chunk of something and tells you where it goes and what it's for.
Ron is the real McCoy ! Knows his stuff ! Good job, looking forward to this series
It's an absolute joy to watch Ron working .
That’s actually kind of gay…
Ron is a Grant guru brilliant episode
Right man, right tools ...
That is one CLEAN build!
I'm in the wrong career path, this stuff is so dang fascinating. Well done, Ron and team!
Fantastic barn find update. Loved all the info on the bits and pieces and, of course, the tank flip.
Recovery vehicle mechanic, that explains a lot. Great show as usual
What an episode! And the amazing finish!
Well that’s not something I get to see Every Day. Awesome!
Great episode gents. Really made me smile to see the passion that Ron has for the Grant. His knowledge needs to be “bottled” so others can learn from the Master. Looking forward to watching all of this.
Need some help? I’m bored and could use a working trip to AUS.
I can listen to Ron talking about random grant parts for hours. The amount of knowledge he possesses is insane!
Absolute legend, he's likely forgotten more than I know about tanks.
Incredible how Ron just picks up a rustified, crappy & dirty bit of bent or busted tank, & knows just what it is!
13 Grant tank builds? This guy is probly the most experienced Grant builder in the world! - Well, in Straya anyway! I'll grant him that! Hehehe!
Made short work of cuttin off the Aussie mods! That front bit of additional armour between the 2 final drives looks like a nifty & useful mod! - Better not throw THAT away huh?
Hey Ron! - Or to anyone else that may know - That anti-grenade mesh - did they put that on only in the field, & only on Grants? It looks like such a cool mod I'd like to scratchbuild that same mesh onto my M3. I'm building an Aussie Lee tank - "Bushape".
"Shut that bloody side entry door! Shut the dang door!" I yelled at the screen as the tank got flipped! Geez! I hope that door didn't get damaged!
Great video!
The man is a beast dressed up in that heat with a hot torch!
That was brilliant.
Flip it ! Yeah sure no problem !!! Love it !
Ron is a gem. You don't find to many that geek off to the point you can see he has. That guy goes to sleep thinking Grants. 😎🤙🌺
Hey from California, I always look forward to Workshop Wednesday. I amazed the quality of work being done and the quality of the video productions!
Damn!!! Can't it be next week!!!
Great job guys!!
Best Ausarmour yet
Outstanding video and presentation.
I love these videos. Keep them coming!
Ron certainly doesn't mess around! This is going to be an exciting restoration series.
How to clean grant tank tip upside down priceless
I love how Ron goes through the pile of what looks like scrap and identifies the various pieces. I find it amazing that it was not all rusted through. It must have been pretty dry where those tanks were left?
At the USMC Air Ground Museum we flipped and SU-76 on her side to sandblast the bottom of the hull. We had to use an old RT forklift and it was quit a job. I don't know how many hours I spent sandblasting the vehicle, inside and out, small parts to huge, but it was a bunch. I can't describe the satisfaction when the final coats of paint went on and I envy you all for the challenges and hard work ahead. If I lived "down under" rest assured I would be reporting for duty to share in the fun.
huh. did not think to see a tank flip on todays episode... nice. keep them coming! :)
Amazing he can name each of the parts and where they go. I'd be drawing a blank. The perfect man for the job.
Can also tell Ron visited when it was slighly cooler in Cairns haha
Love the contrast between the full on restoration and the patina restoration.
A fantastic episode! Show Ron a pile of rusty metal and he finds a tank inside! He has also introduced us to a new sport! Tank tipping! That did loosen up a lot of dirt and debris!
What a "beast", yet certainly effective.
This guy Grants 👍Top shelf bloke🥃
Truly a Mad Max prequel event.
That was cool!
More Ron please!!
Ron is such a Grant guy!
How does he know so much. It's amazing to watch
Great amount of Knowledge. If I every need to clean a tank might just flip it upside down, will get rid of majority of the dirt.
An M3 Grant painted as 23972 was sold at the Melbourne Tank Museum auction in 2006 to R&R services and went to the UK and is currently with Kevin Wheatcroft. So this must be the original 23972. Interesting.
Makes me want to live in Australia. the Lee/Grant is my favorite tank. You see a lot of M4 tanks here. lots of little small towns have them as display pieces...but I've never seen an M3, and I'm Two hours away from Detroit and an hour from Lima OH
When doing the torch work with all the appropriate safety gear he looks like a Star Wars character!!
Awesome !
A restored Grant tank troop ! Now that would be awesome.
I must admit I cringed both times it went over. All's well! She's a tough ol' girl to survive this long and in such beautiful shape. I'm very much looking forward to her being restored to her original condition. Super big hugs to the team!!!
Excellent project and episode! I'll look forward to following this one to the end!
Good stuff!! 👍
Lord how I love an expert ❤
It is always wonderful to encounter someone with the deep knowledge and obvious passion for any subject like Ron.
Thanks :)
wow, someone who has a lot of experience with grant tanks. Congratulations.
I hope to god someone is writing all this down because this knowledge is priceless!
I think you deserve a drink Ron!
Those Ozito rotary hammers were ridiculously good value for money.
Cool. More please.👍🇦🇺
Buy Ron as many beers as he wants when he works like this... another great video!
You guys never cease to amaze me. 👍👍
His knowledge is outstanding…
15.19 Ron chewing the guy out for standing in the pinch point. Good on him !!!!!!
That’s one way to clean the Grant.
😂
What a amazing amount of knowledge.
Great!
OOOOOOOOOOH YES the continuation , thank you
Protect this man what a legend!
I've only done one car and now I can usually tell where a part goes just by looking at it. The knowledge from 13 restorations, I can't imagine.
Ahha so that's where Ron gets his smock drills from, an ex ArmyvTankie. Good stuff Ron
Correction SCHMICK not smock...
Yeh, Workshop Wednesday
Eeey, Ron the legend is back!
I was nervous that those wheels would buckle under the weight of the tank when it was balancing there. Ron had it under control the whole time. Excited to see the rest of the series! Does the museum have a farmer-modified Grant exhibit?
Well, one cant have too many Grant Tanks....pretty cool.
greetings from the Netherlands
Ron is the man, no doubt!!!!,,,,,DUBS,,,
When flipping the tank over.
I think I would have locked up the side hatch and maybe take the small parts off of the top. Like the pariscope and a few other things so you don't have to go fixing them later.
Will this be a fully restored running tank? Thanks for all the love you show to the tanks of the past especially American tanks
great stuff - the grant was an ugly beast with additional parts that morphed into what we know today
quite an amazing machine, the progress on this will be challenging but epic - and it's the right call to turn it back into its original state as when built - i say this many times, with military vehicles, boats and planes, they were built and had a history from the day it was delivered to it's present day and tomorrow - pick a year and be authentic, but don't make it into something it wasn't - i have seen vehicles painted in sand, when either it or it's type was never used in that theatre - i did a De Havilland Hunter for a museum, in its Danish markings, apparently i did such an authentic job on it, it's actually better than one in the Danish museum - great work guys
Been here since the beginning. Awesome stuff
I’d love to see it getting its bath and then rolled back over and into the shed.
This man knows every screw of a Grant by first name. 🤭 - Fantastic
Great job, team 👍
This is so Grant.... I mean grand!
Camera upgrade? nice
When he said "Do you know what the easiest way to clean this would be?" my first thought was "FIRE"
