With this technology actors could just live forever on screen
No more pescy sallaries to pay for those arrogant actors. We'll just use the old faces for ever and ever .... (The faces will be property of corporations and agencies like the voices of Michael Jackson and other superstars are)
Yeah. And they could not blink forever too!
and we can also be the actors, change my face to Leonitis
They actually did this with Audrey Hepburn. Her face was in a Dove chocolate commercial. They had to receive permission from her family to use her face super imposed on a actress though
That’s crazy to think about
the ramification for this in the future is super interesting and scary- in my debate class we talked about how eventually its a possibility that celebrities could sell there face or likeness to do ads without even being in them- that's just one example but still so cool and scary

this tech really needs to be monitored, cause it could be really dangerous
This can do immense harm to the person they are deep faking, and can you imagine trying to prove you are not the person in a video where the person in the video is you!?!? I agree with you.. severe penalties for anyone doing this kind of thing.
As it is at the moment, there's not much to worry about. It takes weeks of work for an experienced special effects profesional to make very short clips look convincing using deepfake and CGI. It's only really practical for use in the movie and TV industry. You can do it at home on a fairly expensive gaming PC, but just superimposing a face doesn't look real at all. It takes huge amounts of time and work at get it looking even remotely real. You also need to have someone who has a similar face structure to the person you want to imitate if you want it to look realistic.
@@igonovabord1342 true, but in 5 years there will be an app that does this in 5 minutes using a cellphone if history teaches anything.
@@Will-if7wp Any apps would still rely on remote servers to process pre-prepared clips, no doubt using paid subscriptions and/or ads.
The future possibilities and implications of this tech is truly terrifying...
Yep, we should have never let the peasants learn to read.
There was this Swedish skit on TV a few years ago with "Barack Obama".
I knew it had to be fake, but I didn't know about deepfake tech back then.
The eventual ramifications kind of frightens me.
this has been implemented a decade ago. What's new 😂

The fact Tom Cruise is going to space to film a space movie alone should grant him as much publicity as possible.
I jump on couches because of Tommy Boi.
😕 that's it on couches
I love this comment!
You forgot about Rick James, he’s been jumping on couches since the 1980s prior.
Great job, very well done lads. The hysterical laugh he does intermittently is really funny. Tom cruise seems like a fairly legit guy and he does take a lot of time to talk with his fans etc and appears to have a good sense of humour.
Back in 1990 I worked with a guy from Cork that was the spitting image of Tom Cruise, it was uncanny how much he looked like him and his name was Tom as well (so is mine), we all told him to join one of those agencies that hire out 'Doubles' of movie stars but this guy was 6'4" so he wouldnt have fooled many Tom Cruise fans. We both worked on the building sites in London that summer to save money for College and it was great going for a beer with him cos the women would always come over and tell him how much he looked like Cruise, he wasnt great with the banter but the ladies loved the two of us (ironically he was a great 'wingman'), lol, two tall well built Irish lads... its a wonder we got any work done at all cos we were kept busy if ya know what I mean. Keep up the good work, peace from Ireland...
This guy is the ULTIMATE Tom Cruise! He is the height that the real Tom would like to be
I bet it was early deepfake.
That one where he does the coin trick is just amazing-all the deep fake vids are bonkers but that one I thought was especially good

Hey, what's the synth track playing from 2:07?
If TC ever decides to sue, oh there's no way those two guys can argue their way out.
what are the vfx programs that one can use?
Public figures should trade mark their likeness and sue the hell out of anyone who deep fakes them.
USA USA USA
This is terrifying and why books will ALWAYS be important in the age in the internet.
I wish Tom was more active on social media, then we would not need to create deep fakes to have more of him :)
He is, it is called some Church of something.
But maybe he doesn’t want to be more active on social media, so just let’s respect that.
When you have serious computer skills
guess someone could use this VFX deepfake to make an another fast and the furious with a Paul Walker deepfake
Imagine things that could be done with this, like the bad things 😕😳.. anyone can make any crime
The technology is great and all. But I really hate that someone's likeness is used and manipulated like this without their permission. It's just so creepy to me. And I dread to think what could be created if this was in the wrong hands.

The deep fake lacks some motion blur and softer edges. But very nice anyway
And the lighting looks off
Tom (The Reaql) is loving this because it humanizes him. He comes off as a great fun guy who is just like us. It's like we are all in on the joke.
Since Tom does all his own stunts, he’s probably thinking go ahead and do those fake videos of me doing boring stuff! 🤣

This is genius when used ethically. The problem occurs, when criminals use this technology for malicious purposes. For example, a cartel COULD pretend to kidnap a child of a POLITICIAN, when in reality the child is safe.
