I like this type of video, that bit more analytical. I’d also enjoy a video maybe breaking down the ucl probabilities based on our form, current standing and coefficient. I seen on uefa’s website that we have only a 3.2% chance of not qualifying in the playoff spots. Yer man Scottish coefficient would be a good guest to try get on for that.
Great Video once again Hamish, (at the start I was worried I couldn't follow a bunch of numbers being talked about) the graphs are a great explainer and you've put the visuals with your thoughts over the top very well.... thank you : ]
Really interesting and insightful video Hamish, I think there's a happy medium between spending and definitely saving for a rainy day, they will come. And as you put it, looked before COVID we were out of sight and very quickly things can change. Really interesting to see the comparison between us and last placed EPL too, madness really isn't it! All the cash in the bank maybe it's the exact time to look to drive revenue by building the main stand up and increasing season ticket rev. The main stand holds like 8000, the north stand holds 27,000. If we increased the main stand by 20k seats x the average Season ticket at 579 that's an additional 11.5 million a year. And rumour has it, The waiting list was closed at 20k, 20,000 more people buying food, drinks, merchandise ect... Heres hoping!
This is in the context of a new CL format kicking in this season, next financial results. Moreover, new FFP rules limit spending on players and wages to 70% of revenue. This means our expenditure on such things (without that new CL revenue) is projected to be capped at £87.5m before player sales, meaning the cap while extremely constraining to other sides is relatively non existent to us. We already work way within that cap.
Good content hamish I think the covid season was a blessing in disguise where would we be if lenny had won the league it's the kick up the backside the club needed
Love the objective side of your presentation skills - great wee update on all-things Celtic. Such a disgrace how much the EPL receives in TV monies... Thing is, I wouldn't advise any Celtic supporter to hold their breath waiting on those dunderheids @ the SFA (sweet Eff all?) and their embarassing lack of business acumen & their glaring deficiencies in 'selling' Scottish football to media companies... The sooner Celtic can 'escape' from the shackles of the SFPL: the better we'll be for it! Hail Hail! #COYBIG
personally i think we should keep a rainy day fund. we can never predict what’s gonna happen and it’s good to have a war chest we can use to back a rebuild (god forbid it ever gets to that point) would like to see upgrades to the facilities and general upkeep to celtic park to keep an old trafford situation at bay
Seems like a great time for stadium expansion. It'd only bake another £10m into our revenue directly but surely with some knock on marketing/reputational benefits. Make Celtic Park exceptionally big & impressive again, make us a ~top 5 european club in terms of attendances again.
I think I seen somewhere that an English team are paying up for they're stadium over so many years catalogue style if you wish haha wouldn't celtic be able to South stand like that therefore keep the nestegg in the bank ??
Im not on any socials but I think its cos X is owned by Musk, who allows it for a platform to spew racist sexist shite & abuse............... masked as 'free speech'
SO many looks to camera that give context, mibbie I'm just being very autistic, I don't get listening to this channel as the video makes it. The comedy is in Hamish's tone and body language and it's the main selling point for me (after the interviews with the likes of Scott McDonald and co-hosts Stevie and John). Hamish, you laid out the numbers making a great case the board are doing well, then you went full, blinded by passion, fan arguing against your numbers. You showed the massive revenue dip in non-UCL seasons then you argued, just before we go into a season where that revenue is NOT guaranteed, to throw caution to the wind. Guys, I'd love us to be more competitive (we're doing that OK now with a fiscally conservative approach) but you have to balance that with security for the club or you find yourself getting knocked out of qualification by Arsenal and before the domestic season kicks of fin anger you're having to offload Engels and CCV to make up the budget shortfall. Being too progressive in an environment, that you just illustrated with your graphs, can close that gap we have created against our domestic rivals very quickly. I want us rivaling our Lions history but as you saw with the league revenues, it's going be a very tough ask. At our spending bracket limitations, even spending all of that reserve on 1 player would not necessarily make the difference when you come up against the top teams in the most monied leagues, we need to VERY lucky and get massive bang for our buck in the transfer market but it is speculation, it has to be speculative in our price range, and it comes with risk and we don't have margins, because of that TV revenue, to lose. Rainy day funds are not sexy but they save us from going to the wall after a couple of UCL lean seasons, and if you have been watching since the late 1990s, as I have been, that's not unheard of. Onwards and upwards, but guys, heart is great, it's why we watch, the romance of the beautiful game, but head has to be in it when the TV revenue is a joke as it for us. That said, heart time: we need to get the left back situation sorted, test Barca's £3m release clause and tie up Taylor or get someone else in, and I'd like an Engels-style investment on the wings as the drop off from Maeda and Kuhn is staggering. Wouldn't say no to a striker too but I'm not sure if that might unsettle Kyogo and Idah. 2 is precarious and with Kyogo's injury and the multiplicity of ways a player can be unavailable, I don't like that we cannot cycle 3 first XI ready strikers to have them all match fit in case the full compliment is unavailable due to illness, injury, international commitments etc etc HH
@@marknugent9851 ah, got you. Agreed, need better calibre of wingers to fill the squad. Jamesy Forrest has been a cracking servant for this club, but his legs are gone, need some fresh young talent on both wings
We can turn our noses up at Belgium and Poland’s leagues and question their TV money vs ours but the population of Poland is 35million (over 6 times ours) and Belgium is 12 million, double ours, so our TV money isn’t wildly out of line.
Agree it would be nice to see us go back, but only for the very top players. Maybe there's more eyes on Japan now given their growth on the national stage. Maybe Rodgers doesn't have the same desire to sign players from there as Postecoglou.
Probably because twitter is an absolute cesspit of right wing shite, unfortunately it’s where I get my football news for the most part so still use it.

Back to Celtic after the international break what could be better ☘️
Punctuation.

Definitely can only see good things ahead for us, the future’s bright!
Great presentation, nice and easy on the brain 1st thing in the morning , keep it up 🍀👍
Excellent review, thanks, and putting our finances in perspective!
TV deals for the bottom team is disgusting!
Without the small teams we’re nothing, without the small teams we’d have no one to play and no league to play in , I definitely agree with you 🍀

Disparity in tv deal money is really wild

I get the analysis, but losing 10 in a row hurts!!
Anyone know the value of 100 ordinary shares in Celtic atm?

We need a new way forward with TV .revenue.
personally i think we should keep a rainy day fund. we can never predict what’s gonna happen and it’s good to have a war chest we can use to back a rebuild (god forbid it ever gets to that point) would like to see upgrades to the facilities and general upkeep to celtic park to keep an old trafford situation at bay
Agree that the stadium could do with some work

I'd love if they increased the standing section & the overall capacity by another 10k. Would be epic

Falloff from Kuhn? Are you ok? He’s not stopped flying since hitting form!
@craigmelvin6787 naw, misunderstanding. I meant after Kuhn and Maeda there is a drop. Kuhn has been awesome. Some find. HH

SPEND SPEND SPEND Have an open day giving free pies and bovril until the money runs out
With a population of 5 and a half million, we will never match the top leagues for revenue
We can turn our noses up at Belgium and Poland’s leagues and question their TV money vs ours but the population of Poland is 35million (over 6 times ours) and Belgium is 12 million, double ours, so our TV money isn’t wildly out of line.
I can't understand why we haven't been back to the Japanese market, players don't cost the earth
Agree it would be nice to see us go back, but only for the very top players. Maybe there's more eyes on Japan now given their growth on the national stage. Maybe Rodgers doesn't have the same desire to sign players from there as Postecoglou.
Wait ta ah grab the calculator
You keep on saying (made) when you should be saying total income, & remember Celtic like every other club have had expenses since we reported
Sack the board! 😂
R u 100% sure about needing a playoff 4 CL 🤔
Yup unfortunately.
