- The kata CHINTO (Old style version) performed at the Okinawa Kôkôsei Taikai 2009, at the Okinawa Kenritsu Budokan. Visit www.karatebyjes... for more info, videos and the blog!
This is the most amazing Chinto I have seen. OMG! I won many national kata tournaments. This youngster is fierce. The pacing the precision. WOW!!!
This is Kyan lineage, you can tell that because she performs it on a 45 degree angle from her embusan. For sure a tournament kata, not done in the "Old Style" .....
I'm not a big fan of tournament performances, but her skill is incredible. I'd love to see a video of her simply doing the form.
I teach this version of Chinto but it flows a lot faster and has a bit more hip torque and rotation when moving. No posing or stopping, fun kata to perform.
This is the Tomari version of Chinto practiced in the Matsubayashi and Shobayashi branches of Shorin-Ryu as well as Shorinji-Ryu. It's the version practiced by lineages under Chotoku Kyan
great version of this kata, she performs it very well!!
That was inspirational, a true thing of beauty!
Great performance ,The kata is chinto ,I think it's tomari te version in the w.k.f style but not matsubayashi okinawa shorinryu .Still a good kata but i wish the w.k.f would stop changing the old kata's just for performance sake.Kara te is for so much more than the look of a kata. It's not the old verison at all.
If you look at Kobudo Kata, you will find that many do not begin and end in the same place. The work Kobudo, really doesn't mean weapons. Ko - old, bu - warrior, do- way. The old warrior ways. This is another link to the culture of Okinawa, which is important to understand.
Maravilhoso, o karate é lindo em todos os aspectos, parabéns...
This!! is so graceful
Noticed now that there was a secon part of your comment. I admit I know nothing about Kobudo, so you just teached me another thing.
Thank you again!
It is splendid and is very beautiful.
Very good Kata, its very close to the Isshin ryu verision!!
Beautifly done. Graceful and precise.
Lovely Kata, seeing some elements of my own style with lots of others there. One I would love to learn
What a nice kata!
I think that her teacher was Yoshinori Higa比嘉 良徳.
At that time, he had coached us at the Shuri high school Karate club.
Wonderful!
It is amazing to me that the karate at the Okinawan World Tournament no longer looks, .... Okinawan.
So low in her stance?
@@johnleonard3806 Nah... it's the rhythm and cadence the kata is performed with. The competition versions tend to have more defined stops and starts and fewer small movements overall. Just my take.
. Beautifully done
That's a very cool version of Chinto Kata.
Ive never seen it done this way but i see similarities. Definitely well executed.
Thank you for sharing!
I agree with babydru: in Shotokan it is Gankaku Sho. In Shorin-ryu Kyudokan we use the other version (search on RUclips : 'Makiko Midorikawa Chinto').
BTW: Jesse, thank you for a wonderful blog!
Nothing like the Chinto we have in Shorinji Rye Renshinkan Kempo, that is the original Kempostyle from Okinawa. Big changes after the sons started there own schools...
Awesome performance ! So powerful and beautiful ...
did you guys see that turn though
Great kata, thanks for sharing
thanks you for this video i learn a lot sir
Omg🏆
@jiggahippo You can disagree if you wish ,But this is not the way you would learn this kata in the dojo , Only if you are entering W.K.F comp's would you do this version , Nagamine sensei didn't show you this way in his dojo. Technique has been Modified for comp's,That's what i was pointing out, Thanks for your comment
Very nice!
Very good!!!
Awesome kata and execution!
Oss!
very smooth, brilliant! thanks for the video Jesse !
very precise !!
Surely embusen and practical fight have nothing to do ;)
I practice Shotokan, but I always try to look and understand other styles, so I was curious about this.
Thank you for the answer.
Thanks for the information. Regards
Ossu!
Thanks for the info
Jesse-san, is this the number 049 of official wkf kata list? Kyan no Chinto?
Very good kata
This definitely isn't the same version we are taught in our Shorin-Ryu dojo, but it is beautiful!
I think the kata is "old style" but the timing has been modernised for tournament. Sadly, when the timing is altered it can sometimes lead to a diffusion of the traditional bunkai meaning. Of course, there is nothing to stop the practitioner from developing bunkai appropriate to the new timing. This presentation,it has to be said, is very crisp, sharp, focussed. It looked good in that setting.
this is the shorin ryu chinto performed by a shito ryu athlete. great performance but there's nothing about "old style" karate.
Marco Conforti, 5° dan Matsubayashi shorin ryu karatedo
Mmmm I would say this is a modified version of the Mastubayashi style - just my two cents - it looks modernized to fit the tournament style.
No, it's only a "japanized" execution of Seibukan's Chinto.
This is nothing you can call old style, the rhythm is purely for Kata tournament show, stances are wrong for old style.
Woah, good leg work!
wow, just perfect, BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Actually this is the Kyan version of Chinto. We do a similar version in our dojo. (see suggestions on right (Kyan ha Chinto).
Also check out youtu(DOT)be/loCyQB8Eenk
The Chotoku Kyan version of Chinto. Originally from Kokasu Matsumura Tomari. Unique in the 45 degree embusen and techniques. Performed by Zenpo Shimabukuro of the Seibukan.
Who can beleive this is oldstyle... please!
Embusen does not have the same significance in Okinawan Karate as it does in Japanese karate, and NO relevance to practical fighting application. Embusen is a concept that was introduced when karate was becoming a part of the Japanese school system. It was a part of gym class, so coming back to you mark was important. Old Okinawan karate was not bound the same way.
briliant tzn..zajobocha:)
Very impressive is every incredible very unique you perform your karate techniques and also your powerful powerful most powerful kara very very well I just wish I could have been doing it in my original Karate class I could have had been better much much better 🥋☯️🙏😌🙏☯️🥋
I learnt shinto a few years ago, but th Shito Ryu version, and it´s very different than this one, but this one is amazing!
Standardized version of Matsubayashi-ryu Chinto. Sakumoto is classifying all of Okinawan Karate. Finally. making it Japanese, and making it Olympic. ;O)))))))
One Day. I want to look as good as her. My Sensei says i need to add different timings to my kata. I see what he means now :O!
❤
This is a beautiful kata. The oldest pattern of Chinto, but still modern in style. Definitely not koryu, however.
She's fucking fantastic.
Looks more like shotokan than original shorin ryu chinto to me, but very very good. Waza ki and kokoro in harmony.
Pretty cool to watch.
A little different from isshinryu.
The ending ouch for us goes to the groin. Can any one help me understand after her kick to punch how this is being used?
Not the Chinto kata I'm familiar with, but a nicely executed jumping snap kick.
old style is Matsumura seito, but is a nice performance.
This is not the Chinto I learned from Yuichi Kuda but it's close. Very impressive.
I practice shorinji ryu and we call this kata Yabu Chinto
i can actually see some similarities between wado ryu kata chinto!
:) those are beautiful movements
Nice chinto kata very similar of the version Jyoshinmon Shorin Ryu Chinto
Excellent performance! Thanks for posting.
BTW would you know what "style"/who her teacher is? Thanks.
この形は、泊チントウでしょうか?どなたかご教示頂けますか?
(糸東のチントーはまだ拝見したことがありません)
CAN we do this kata in an international competition ?
Surely
judging by the video tags, i'm guessing this is shorinji-ryu?
Definitely not old Okinawan Performance, it's just for show like mainland Japan Karate.
In this style there's any importance about embusen or is just a wrong impression? She ended meters away from where she started.
hmmm. with that nekoashi, it doesn't look like shorin. might be shito, but i'm not sure, as i've never seen the shito-ryu chinto
this version doesn't have the tsuru-ashi dachi crane kicks?
Muy diferente al "Gankaku" de Shotokan o al "Jin Do" Koreano
Very strong execution but this is not "old style". Too much posing. This is not done in old style. All karate has pauses but that's different from posing. It's influenced by the tournament mindset. She's great though.
Similar to Isshin Ryu but quite different at the same time.
It looks good...but...unfortunately the WKF character has taken root in Okinawan karate. In this kata there is also more theather than budo. ..
old style chinto? hardly. this is a modified shotokan Gankaku sho. it does not contain okinawan stances nor techniques. if you want to see the old style chinto you will only see it in Matsubayashi ryu. I would have ripped her for not stopping in the spot she started. Chinto kata is a straight line back and forth twice up twice back, ending in the exact stance and spot from which it originally began. I enjoyed her kata but it was NOT old chinto. sorry Jesse. you of all people should know that.
I’m sorry to say you are misinformed
Isn't this gankaku sho?
New style "old style" Chinto. 😁
Thank you for sharing Jesse, but the excessive breathing and slapping was very distracting...
I'm practicing the style Shorin-ryu kata shinshukan and this is not our style
not Matsubayashi ryu
Then she throws a pokeball
Her cat stance front foot is way to high to be traditional Okinawan, old Style Okinawan cat stance front foot is very low
This is a very close to the Shobayashi version. 松林? Oh, by the way, the bickering below shows how little exposure you have to life. The "this is/is not the way I learned it" argument is testimony to the ignorance of the recognition that the only constant in life is change. All these students of Kyan formed their own styles, but they all had the same Sensei!!!
So! The truth is that the only authentic style is tempered in the spirit. Otherwise, this is the banter of semantics that fuels war.
bronskibronek, I agree.
Old style? no, robotic tournement style!
You wrote OLD STYLE but in old and first katas in okinawa there was no tobi (flying) techinques as tobi mae geri or similar...but with time katas have changed....actually there was no leg kicks higher than hips..there are so many variations of many okinawan katas,so no one knows what is the original..katas should not be changed...okinawans made them to be like that for many reasons, who are we to change it?? Older=better=original, bcs of so many variations, we dont know what is the original
Her front kicks are ass
Bull.......
Very Nice!
