Really good video. I am an active homebrewer here in Decatur, Ga. I have watched several of yours and really like the walk through of the process on this one. Good luck with your new system. Cheers!
After visiting a lot of breweries, i thought "Let me try to make beer! It seems doable!" .. this video, being my first search, tells me "nah son, just keep supporting the local craft spots".
My first IPA is now on tap and I'm extremely happy with the outcome. One of my best beers yet. Just prepare yourself for the long heat up times. I'm now going to start using my propane burner and backup kettle to get the water to temp and then transfer to this system. Everything runs super smooth and easy once up and running but the heat up times add about 1-2 hours (depending on mash schedule) to a brew day and that doesn't always work for me.
Johnny Vestal nope :( If you have the 240v system coming, I'm staying tuned for your thoughts on it. The 110v is great once up to temp but getting there takes a while.
There is a huge difference between 120v and 220v setups. I have the original system, and did a 220v conversion myself. Typical brew day went from about 6.5 to 7 hours on 120v to about 4.5 to 5. While I didn't provide a huge amount of detail, I outlined what I did so others could try to do the same: instagram.com/p/BjvlhtaFM61/?
I loved it when you couldn't find the scissors then stepped on the auto siphon. That pretty much describes my typical brew day. It's encouraging to know I'm fairly normal.
Hello. Thanks for the nice inspiring video. I noticed you cold crashed your beer in the plastic bucket with bubbler on, what's your trick to avoid suck back ? Thanks again
First you back a dump truck full of hops up to your garage door wondering how you are going to manage to fit all of that into your 10 gallon kettle. Lol. I really used to like the hoppy stuff years ago but eventually I found my way back to beer, and I don't miss the hop bombs (undrinkable swill) one bit.
What should I change in the brewing process if I’m planning on bottling and not kegging this beer? How long should it be in the fermentation bucket? When should i add the dry hops and for how long? Should i bottle immediately after taking out the dry hops? How long should it sit in the bottles at room temp? Nice video!
When hops are added to the chilled wort, is there a chance that the hops could infect the brew? Wild yeasts, bacteria, fungus? Perhaps the pellets are sterilized? Do hops themselves stop infections regardless? If I harvest hops from a friends old farm, can these cause infection? I see why most put hops in during at least some of the boil ;-)
i love this channel but can you please start using the international system too? please. can you say something like "we use xx pounds aka yy grams of something..."
@@buffytepper I understand, when I'm listening to somebody who is talking in all metric and celcius, it's kind of annoying to always have to look it up or do math in my head.
No harm in asking but! Conversion quick cheat guide: pounds to kilograms-divide by 2 (close enough, 1kg=2.2lbs), ounces to grams - multiply by 30 (close enough, 1oz=28.34g), now Fahrenheit to Celsius is a little tricky but for brewing mashing always happens around 66C which is 151F and every delta 1C is roughly delta 2F (close enough, delta 5C = delta 9F). This is what I do for a rough idea when listening to things.
Bailey Ellis it is used to keep the hop debris out of the final product. A whirlpool at the end of the boil does the same thing if you don’t have the basket.
Hey, I brewed a beer with pacific jade, which made my wort super acidic. So I adjusted with bicarbonate of sodium, but I exagerated, now it taste of sodium. What can I do to save that 5 gallons of beer? I need the suggestion of an expert. Please
What heating and cooling differential do you use on your temperature controller in your fermenter? Mine tends to wander quite a bit from setpoint and I can't seem to dial it in.
I only like my NEIPA style IPA's cloudy-- I like a nice clear IPA otherwise. That is the beauty of homebrewing-- no need to clear it up if that is not your thing.
IPAs should be clear unless you're specifically making a New England IPA. Even if you're making a neipa you'd still use whirfloc in the boil to help the trub drop to the bottom. It'll still be hazy with all the protein rich adjuncts in the grist.
Ours is generally 73% for low to medium ABV beers. It drops with bigger beers if we don't sparge, but we generally have to sparge when the grain bill approaches 20lbs. Yep, we splurged and bought a canner! We really like it. Oktober Designs is the brand.
I notice that you do not sparge in some of your videos. Do you typically not have to sparge with this type of system? I have yet to find any definitive literature that says sparging is/[is not] required with a brewing system that recirculates the wort during the mashing process. Thanks ahead of time.
so, are pelletized hops considered sanitized in the vacuum pack bags? I saw you StarSan the bag but was wondering if hops were ok to use straight for dry hopping?
Wow just discovered this channel!! Amazing videos! Thank you for info! I see you have all this PRO stuff... Is it possible to make this double IPA at home?
So there is no refermentation in bottles. The beer becomes ready to drink in short time. I don't understand this fact. My beer takes usually a month to develop the right flavors (in bottles). Someone can explain this to me?
Interesting video. But... with all the money you spent on the brewing equipment, maybe ferment in a stainless conical fermenter, instead of a brew bucket? Like, I'm assuming the payments on the Ferrari are up to date?
Buckets are cheap, easy to clean, easy to move, and the main thing is they easily fit into a temperature controlled fermentation chamber. We sell the brewing kit shown in the video. www.clawhammersupply.com/collections/all-products/products/digital-electric-120v-homebrew-beer-system

Marbles work really nice to make sure your hop bag sinks and all hops touch the beer during dry hoping.
Led free glass or stainless steel balls lol Great idea.
I truly love how low tech and unsophisticated this whole process is!
That's easier than I thought. If I had the money and space I would brew beer myself for sure. Maybe sometime.
Made this and it turned out awesome
Great brew day with an AWESOME looking beer at the end.Keep the great vids coming guys!
Excellent job mayne
Duuuude. Loved your vid! Beginner all grain /experienced extract brewer here and still learning every batch!
The best Double IPA
The 220 controller looks awesome! 🤘🍺
Very good!
You guys have really nice brewing videos !! Cheers "!
Another good video love IPA and the 240 system would suit us here in the UK as that's what everything here runs on
Great video, really good channel too! Love the system you guys have - awesome!

Can i add fruit alonge with the hops at boil To get fruit notes to the ipa? Please and thank.
Thanks for sharing btw, enjoy your videos and recipes! Nice boil! Lol.

Hello! Thank you for the video. Can I use of ordinary water which is treated with chlor?
Great video, what I don't get, is how do you measure how strong the ale is?
Wow that is an epic grain basket that rests on top! Where can we get one that clips on the side like that?
Yum!!!! Cheers 😁🍻
How long did you ferment the beer in the bucket? 10 days?
What ph of water do you suggest ? are you using tap
Made me LOL at the yeast part. Cool video!, looks like you need a larger brew pot?
How can you increase the ABV?
А для корбанизации что используете?
What is the purpose of the Hop Basket? Just discovered your channel and it's awesome!
Bailey Ellis it is used to keep the hop debris out of the final product. A whirlpool at the end of the boil does the same thing if you don’t have the basket.

Do you change the ph of your mash water off camera or not at all?
What kid of crush do you get on your grains for your BIAB mash? Does your supply shop offer a fine crush if so what mill gap spacing is used?
I'm new to this brewing stuff. I use to brew whiskey but when it comes to beer, how much sugar and yeast do you use in 5 or 10 gallons?
Seems like a bit of an issue that all the hop pellets are brown...whats up with that?
lets say you can all of that, how many cans can you get out of one batch ?
What heating and cooling differential do you use on your temperature controller in your fermenter? Mine tends to wander quite a bit from setpoint and I can't seem to dial it in.
That's a question for Emmet. Info@clawhammersupply.com
How long did you ferment?
What parts do you use for your sparge thing-a-ma-doo on your lid? It's pretty snazzy.
What grains did you use?
Is there actual fruit/fruit oil in the Citra hops?
Why do you want to clarify the IPA? It should stay a bit cloudy, especially double IPA.
I only like my NEIPA style IPA's cloudy-- I like a nice clear IPA otherwise. That is the beauty of homebrewing-- no need to clear it up if that is not your thing.

Curious as to your efficiency with the full volume no sparge method? I am doing the same but am only getting 65% Also i spy a canner in the corner!!!!
Ours is generally 73% for low to medium ABV beers. It drops with bigger beers if we don't sparge, but we generally have to sparge when the grain bill approaches 20lbs. Yep, we splurged and bought a canner! We really like it. Oktober Designs is the brand.

How can i choose the appropiate bottle if i want to brew any gasified beer?( Not necesary beer) i really would appreciate if someone can help me.
Ive heard (unlike PBW) hot water added to Star San decreases its sanitation effectiveness, am I misinformed?
so, are pelletized hops considered sanitized in the vacuum pack bags? I saw you StarSan the bag but was wondering if hops were ok to use straight for dry hopping?
Hops are anti-microbial.

What’s the song from the intro??
Love the addition of the 240v system. Any plans for a 10 gallon yield, 240v system?
We have a 20 gallon prototype kettle but definitely won't be offering it until late next year. We have our hands full with the current system!
Totally understandable, but I will be looking forward to that!
Are all your brews cloudy?
I find that the whirlfloc clogs the screen on the hop spider and doesn't let the wort flow through freely. Anyone else have the same Issue?
This beer is actually around 7.7 %. You have to use the alternate equation for beers of higher gravity.
7:55 why on earth would you have a Bud Light? Cannot unsee
It's probably because they did that dry hop experiment with it.
Bro, Budweiser is the KING of beer, didn't you know?
Hahahaha... We were trying to make it better by adding hops to it.
