I love MJ. but the fact is MJ wasn’t turning up to a lot of sound check sessions and the director was going off of the album version of the beat, however MJ has a alternative sound for on stage performances. What the director was implying was that they need MJ to be present more often to give this feedback directly.
Michael does not have a different sound on stage, alot of performers do , the director suggests he might want it different on stage and Michael corrects him no I want it exactly as you hear on the record, that's what I want to hear on stage. The directors position is go onstage and we will tailor it to your needs. Michael's response is, I need it exactly how you hear it on the record, that is my specificity, so make it like that, then I'll check it's correct. The director... "we can give it more where you want it ect Machael...." haha, no thank you "

Michael is a perfectionist his music will live forever I don’t ever see the world getting tired of his music. My daughter is 15 and as a producer I have a huge vinyl collection. She got a hold of that Triller album and that’s all she’s been playing. It’s cool to see the younger generation becoming hip to Michael’s music that album was everything growing up. PYT is probably by favorite song from Michael and there is a lot lol.

There was no checking anyone here it was all respect. As a band you hardly get to work with the artist directly for a full length sound check. Sound checks are usually just for the artists mic levels. The MD was saying he needed MJ to be present for A FULL SET sound check because some artist listen for the Bass for transitions or in Mike’s case, Mike on this particular song wanted to hear a specific passing chord. But I most cases Mike listens for the drums he dances off of the drums because that how he writes. Mike beat boxes, then he sings a melody over that and then adds elements around it!

When i worked with MJ in the 90s (i was first call triangle player, musical director and personal confidant of MJ when I lived in L.A) I would have these types of conversations all the time with MJ. We respected each other, if anything he looked up to me because of what i had achieved in my triangle career. I dont know who this musical director is, never heard of him therfore i cant respect him. But the point is in a proffessional setting its important to talk openly in order to get best results. Anyway not as much call for triangle players these days, the scene has changed massively. Im now homeless PLEASE PLEASE give me a gig! I can play jazz, pop, rock, anything. Swallowing 🥜 on the street is killing me please give me a gig im musican first

When it comes to such serious rehearsals such as this one, the one thing that matters is that everyone can meet in the middle with what's needed. Without some sort of structure, the whole thing is going to fall apart come the day of the concert.
Basically: The way you wrote it... the way you wanna hear it, that's my job ! Such a education and professionalism between brilliant minds, the result is "THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL"

Can’t do that if the artist isn’t showing up for rehearsal. I can tell from both of their sass to each other that it’s a recurring issue. I see some saying just play it like the cd like MJ said, but it is almost impossible to be exactly like a recording session that had edits and multiple takes and the biggest factor….the artist being there! 😱 (full circle) I remember the events before this clip and mostly they were playing it too fast and MJ wanted the keys to staccato with a slight bounce, which can be frustrating when you have practiced and tried to copy the cd the best you could. That’s where the banter came from. MJ was changing things on the fly. The MD knew what was happening and that’s why he said in so many words “bring yo a** to rehearsal next time ninja!” 😂
